El Bandito was fantastic from start to finish! The food was absolutely delicious, the service was incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere was fun and welcoming. We ordered the carne asada tacos, pastor pork tacos, a cup of tortilla soup, fresh homemade chips with salsa and queso, and the Mexican street corn. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and served in generous portions. The tortilla soup was hands down some of the best I've ever had rich, comforting, and packed with flavor! The homemade chips were fresh and crispy, and the queso was a perfect complement. The hot sauce had a wonderfully roasted flavor that was unique and delicious. The Mexican street corn was a little different than what I'm used to it seemed to be made with Miracle Whip instead of mayonnaise but it was still tasty. The tacos were huge and loaded with meat, making for an incredibly satisfying and very filling meal. Overall, we had wonderful, friendly service and enjoyed every bite. If you're looking for flavorful food, generous portions, and a great dining experience in Silverton, El Bandito is absolutely worth a visit. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town! read more

Love everything about this restaurant!!! The atmosphere is professional yet incredibly friendly! We were met with smiles and an eagerness to go above and beyond and they did! From bringing treats for our dog to serving up the most delicious food! Try the limeade; so good! Ask for some refried beans with a little queso for your chips! Finally the barbacoa street tacos and the carne asada burrito smothered with salsa verse was the bomb! We ate every bite and then had to try a churro. Wow! This place is over the top in customer service and quality of food. If you are in Silverton, you need to be sure to visit! They are also called the Bent Elbow. So happy we found this place! read more

Great service. Chips and salsa worth the buy. Mushroom burrito bowl was decent but not mind blowing. Large portion and felt very fresh, which I appreciated. California burrito with queso apparently tasted more like a cheeseburger burrito with the yellow queso. Good quality food, just not really what we were expecting. read more

It's hard to explain how incredible the street tacos are here. As we eat Mexican food and street tacos all over America, including some of the best food trucks there are we were completely shocked when we ate these tacos. We are excited to come back very soon and enjoy the food and service. Thank you! read more

We ordered two burgers and found them enjoyable. Good buns and fixings. About $50 with tax and tip. See notes below. A little too much salt on the fries for my personal taste. I normally tip 20%, but today, I just left a five dollar tip. No big deal but I needed to get water for the table myself and the coffee we ordered didn't come. Perhaps they were just slammed with too many tables to service, Everyone was super nice here. Recommended. read more

Food was very salty especially the shrimp that was served in a bowl. The carne asada was really good however. Rice was plain rice, not Mexican rice but tasted good. Service was good. read more

Carne Asada Burritos Smothered in Chile Verde were delicious. My wife and I stopped in Silverton on our way to Ouray. It was lunch time, so we landed at El Bandito. We will definitely hit this place again next time we are in Silverton. We started with House Margaritas, Chips and Salsa. All of which were very good. Then we had the Carne Asada Burritos Smothered in Chile Verde. I regrettably finished mine. It was delicious, but huge. I was stuffed. My wife took half of hers to go. We would highly recommend this place. read more

Very nice local business featuring authentic Mexican cuisine and drinks. My wife and I had quesadillas and liked them. Friendly service and when a large party got their order in ahead of ours, the owner gave us a nice discount to compensate. The indoor ambiance is perfect for this excellent eating establishment in Silverton, Colorado. Highly recommended. read more

I came here at the recommendation of my coach driver from Durango. He said he hadn't been here himself, but he heard lots of good things. I sat at the bar and had a great experience. Mario is one of the owners and he waited on me. The chips were huge and very good! I also enjoyed the meal and watermelon margaritas that I got. Yummy! read more

Great service and best food I've had in town. Carne asada bowl with pimiento rice was great. Cool mountain vibes.

The El pork pastor tacos are the best I've ever had in my life! They have amazing salsa and everything is made from scratch. This is my favorite restaurant in silverton by far. I was here a week and ate everywhere and wished I ate here every day. Mario is so personal and nice too! He had a palisade peach margarita special for the day and it was done better than anything in Palasade! read more

This place had potential. Marg was solid, nachos decent. Unfortunately, they were setting up for an event and decided to throw customer service out the window. Nobody greeted me when I came in. Took at least 5 minutes for the bartender to bring me a menu even though I was one of two people at the bar. The band was doing the loudest and most horrible sound check, constant screeching and feedback, for 30 whole minutes. The manager and bartender decided to set down cases of lime juice and boxes of liquor in front of my seat at the bar so they could prepare their batch drink for the event. I know these guys were busy doing lots of stuff, but a "hello" and "how's your meal?" go a long way. I'm just bummed that all their efforts were going to their music event and that they left me feeling like an afterthought. read more

Ribeye Tacos were amazing! Family enjoyed their meals as well. Service was excellent! Cool little restaurant.

I am giving this place a five star review with a BIG CAVEAT, do not go here if you are taking the Silverton train back. We visited as a family of five. I have three kids who are ten and under. Two are neurodivergent and one is two. We waited about an hour for food after ordering. With only about an hour and thirty minutes in Silverton, this was unacceptable. I needed time to explore the city to get my kids' energy out. Basically, all we did was eat and use the restroom. Kinda stank. My suggestion to them is to warn guest of the time to get food before they sit down to order OR take take-out orders where they text guest when they are ready. This allows train riders to explore the city. My husband and I ended up taking turns walking our kids around while waiting for food. I am giving it five stars because the food was solid. We are from the west. This is good Mexican food. The waiter was also nice, but the wait was out of his control. I was obviously annoyed, but it was annoying. read more

The food here is great but I think there's only like 3 people working there. No one brought me a drink or silverware at any point. I was by myself so.... I don't know. read more

With My first bite of the chips and salsa, I knew a Mexican was responsible for the amazingly fresh homemade flavors. I was right and not only that I met the young man who owns the place, "un guerito" from Monterrey. They use his family's recipes for this tasty, authentic food. ¡Buen provecho, amigos!" Todo rico. read more

My wife and I both had the carne asada bowl. Very tasty tender steak surrounded with lettuce, guacamole, pico, pinto beans, and moist rice. Generous portions too! We could have done without the tortilla strips, but they were easily pushed aside. A great value! read more

El Bandito - Chips and queso. Margarita, ranch water - Tacos Near Me - Silverton, Colorado

We didn't realize that a lot of the restaurants in Silverton are closed on Saturday nights, so ended up here as a last resort but were thoroughly and pleasantly surprised. The food was great! The salsa was incredible. Chicken burrito smothered in salsa verde was really good. Pastor tacos were great. We travel a lot and have eaten at subpar Mexican restaurants all across the West. This is not one of those. The food was amazing. Felt like it was a family effort with skill and care put behind it. We hope word gets out! read more

Amazing food!! The best chips and salsa, guacamole was delicious. I had Carne asada tacos meat was tender and perfectly seasoned.

We ate her twice during our stay. My husband loved it - he loves spicy food. The kids and did not. The first time I got the tacos with the pork and pineapple, they were great. The second time I got a bowl with carnitas, very spicy. I couldn't eat it. The salsa was good, but too spicy for the kids. Service was great but definitely a slower paced meal. read more

Amazing chips and salsa and Mushroom tacos! Server was knowledgeable about food ingredients and able to help make sure we got vegetarian and vegan options. Our kids had Mac and cheese and French fries and I took a taste of both and they were also delicious! For the vegans out there....the mushroom tacos are a vegan option if eaten without cheese, and chips and salsa of course! Pinto beans are vegan. Refried beans vegetarian (no lard, but they have butter). Come try it out. Let's give them lots of business!! read more

Sat down to get some tacos and the waitress suggested the guacamole and chips. When she brought it she recommended mixing it with the pico de gallo and the special house hot sauce. Holy cow! Probably the best guac I've ever had. The hot sauce really makes it. Tortillas are house-made and delicious, taco fillings were high quality and full of flavor. Hard to believe after living in California for 40 years and traveling extensively throughout the Southwest, but El Bandito might be the best taqueria I've ever been to. read more
