All of my coworkers rave about this restaurant, but.... The food is terrible! I don't know if something changed recently, or what. Their beans are obviously straight out of a can, their rice is flavored with chicken broth (and nothing else, as far as I can tell). I ordered a chorizo, egg and cheese burrito with rice and beans. The entire contents of the burrito were exactly the same shade of dark red (food coloring?). It upset my stomach (Red food dye will do that in high doses) If you know Mexican food, you know the beans aren't supposed to be dark brown and clumpy. And there's no mistaking the "canned" taste. The people who work there are very nice and the service was fast. It seems like a nice place to, but after eating there twice (I got different things both times) I'm ready to say I will not be going back. Clearly everyone raves about this place being amazing authentic Mexican, so maybe I came in expecting the excellence I've had at places in California/Texas. I went on a Tuesday and had 4 tacos. I got the Asasa, pollo, al pastor and barbacoa. All of the tacos were OK. Somewhat bland tasting and even though they were fresh (I saw them make them) they tasted on the dry side and somewhat lukewarm. I guess I was expecting them to taste fresher and more flavorful. Up and coming, we stopped to try this place out - from the outside it looks like a newly opened food joint that is just starting.
