The steak was like shoe leather (dried, tough to cut and separate);, the scrambled eggs were pressed into a patty of dried, crispy, and some burnt edges, the tortillas were pieces of such cut and covered in a sauce that was tasteless, and finally the side of onion, cheese, and sour cream was minuscule at best. Great little Tex Mex restaurant - the best I've found so far in Western Colorado! It's super clean, has friendly staff, hot food, great prices and Tejano music is playing through the speakers. 3rd visit within the last 2 weeks. While I will admit the 50% off full menu (including drinks) brought me in initially, I was hoping to find a great Mexican food place that I could call home. This visit was unlike the first two. This time, food was salty (and I like salt) and my beans were ice cold (like almost out of the fridge cold). I didn't complain, I ate my meal, enjoyed my peach margarita. What also was a disappointment, and I tip well, when the waiter picked up my check, he asked if I wanted change. I said yes please. I understand that sometimes places run short on cash, but it is a restaurant. This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Delta!! When you drive through Main Street it doesn't looks very big from the outside but inside is just wow! It feels like you are in Mexico when you walk into the restaurant. The tables and chairs are all custom made it seems and the lighting is perfect. We come here as often as we are in town. This is our favorite Mexican restaurant. My favorite dish is the grilled chicken breast dinner. It is a huge portion. My boys get the chimichangas. This is a solid choice for food if you're in the area. I went twice and had service that was very friendly once then kind of meh the second time so I can see where the mixed reviews come from. You'll get the standard Mexican American restaurant experience from the decor to the chips and salsa. Full bar with good selection of Tequila and Mexican beers. I didn't have much expectation when we came here, but boy was I wrong. The host/waiter Chava was extremely friendly, and fast. He got us chips and salsa right away and was patient with us. He had great service from beginning to end. The chips and salsa were delicious definitely authentic Mexican. My wife and I both got red enchiladas and they were stuffed with flavorful chicken. The plate was filled with beans and rice which was good too. This place definitely met my expectations and more ! I would highly recommend it if you are coming to into town. read more

Used to love it here. Last time I ordered the mar y Tierra and my ribeye was so rare I'd say blue. I asked for medium rare. Decided to give them another chance today. Maybe ribeye was too complicated for them. Carne asada tacos. Bland and undercooked. My girlfriend also had carne asada tacos tonight. They were well done and RIDICULOUSLY SALTY. How does that work? That is not the first time that has happened to her either. I don't know what is going on with them, but they lost my business. Fine dining comes to Delta! The food is excellent, just like at the Grand Junction and Fruita locations. I noticed they don't have cabeza tacos, one of my favorites, which is my only negative. I went with the carnitas platter for $8.95 and it was wonderful. It comes with tortillas, rice, beans, a tiny salad, a fried jalapeno and a generous helping of carnitas. Be sure to ask for a squeeze bottle of their insanely good taco sauce, it's not on the table and they didn't bring it with the meal. These guys really know how to do carne asada right. We were greeted and seated within seconds of entering. The decor is very similar to the Fruita location; inviting and clean. I especially like the vintage tin ceilings. My girlfriend and I stopped in here for dinner. I saw they had seafood on the menu and Mexican seafood is one of my favorite things to get back home. I ordered the Camerones Diablo and WOW! I didn't expect it to be so good but it beats my local big-city Mexican seafood restaurants hands down! Sauce was pretty spicy but not overkill spicy and just a hint of sweetness. They gave me a huge plate and I couldn't stop eating. Actually ate till it hurt. Chips and salsa/queso were also great and they have a cool bar in the back. Terrible food, major ripoff! I paid $10.25 for guacamole dip, which was 75% flavorless green tomatoes and a little bit of avocado. I ate a little bit and didn't bother taking the rest home. I paid $17.25 for what was advertised as crab enchiladas in a creamy sauce but was actually a tomato and onion enchilada with tiny specks of what was presumably crab in a tomato sauce. Terrible meal, major ripoff. My friend paid $19.25 for shrimp cocktail, which had a few large shrimp and the rest were tiny. He didn't like it ate less than half of it. My husband and I stopped in on a scenic drive through western Colorado. We were greeted and seated immediately. Clean restrooms--wahoo! Food prices a little high for portion but maybe that is to be expected in small town. Chips were great--fresh and crisp. Salsa was wonderful. We are always nervous when traveling and asking for a good time place to eat. Everyone has different tastes. So we were referred to this place and oh my yummy it was delicious. They had a margarita special and sometimes with those "specials" the margarita can be a bit watered down. Not this one! My husband ordered the three enchiladas platter. All had different sauces so the sampling was great. I ordered a 2 combo with a chili reliability and shredded beef chimichanga. Seriously the best rellano I've ever had. I try to stay gluten free & I don't know if the mole has gluten or not, but I eat it anyway & it does not bother me. They are generous with chips & salsa refills. El Tapatio used to be a favorite of ours whenever we made a trip to Delta. However, we have noticed the quality of the food slipping. Today I was served a hard shelled taco that had been fried in very rancid oil making it totally inedible. The tortilla that the relleno was wrapped in also tasted off--not fresh. I love Mexican food and eat it often. I was on a long road-trip visiting many national parks with my significant other and most commonly when we stop in a town, we look for the Mexican restaurant and try it out. Most of what we find is fairly mediocre, but El Tapatio does not fit that mold. To put it simply, we had the best veggie enchilada and mole sauce dish (Mole Chimichanga) we have ever had in our lives. The margaritas and chips&salsa were amazing as well.
