The fish was overcooked with no seasoning however it wasn't fish so with a little salt and lemon it was quite good (I love the flavor of mahi and don't need much on it). The pasta had a light buttery lemon sauce which was good, asparagus also quite good. The others in my party got edamame, a club sandwich and the light portion of fried cod and liked it a lot. The tea was really good and strong. Service was good and we didn't wait very long for our food. The added a 2% fee for splitting the bill two ways. Solid choice.

But for me, this visit was about much more than just a good meal. I used to come here more than 30 years ago with my sister. She and my brother-in-law are both gone now, and I wanted to come back and revisit a place that held some wonderful memories for me. I had the opportunity to meet the owner, and to my surprise, he remembered my sister and brother-in-law. He shared some wonderful things about them, and that made walking through the door worth more to me than I can really put into words. I'm extremely glad I stopped. They serve great traditional American food as well as absolutely amazing Mexican food. The service, cleanliness, food, and genuine small-town hospitality made this a very special experience. If you're passing through Delta, Colorado, I highly, highly recommend stopping at C&J Cafe. There is parking out front and plenty of additional parking in the back. Some restaurants give you a great meal. Every once in a while, you find one that gives you a great meal and brings back a few wonderful memories at the same time. C&J Cafe did exactly that for me. Despite what he had done, he continued preparing the dish as though nothing had happened. After finishing the salad, the food-prep worker handed it to a waitress without telling her what he had done. The waitress, unaware that the food had been contaminated, proceeded to take the salad out to the dining area to be served to customers. This was an extremely serious violation of food-safety standards and could have put customers at risk of becoming ill. Food should always be prepared hygienically and handled responsibly, and intentionally contaminating food is unacceptable in a restaurant setting.
