My mother raved about how great the relatively new Lost Mesa Grill is and we decided to stop by on our way out of town. I'm vegan due to health reasons and eating out is always a chore for me. We were quite thrilled to see there were several vegan options on their rather extensive menu. We opted for the mushroom, black bean and corn tacos with a side of refried beans. The ingredients were fresh and absolutely delicious! Other items on the menu looked delicious as well, ranging from comfort food such as chicken fried steak to ribeyes to a southwest steak salad or roasted beet salad. (Marinated tofu could be substituted for meat.) Brandon, our server, was wonderful, and being a fellow vegan, he had great recommendations. And to top it off, the owner had a box of vegetable from his overflowing garden free for the taking! This restaurant is a fabulous little gem for any community, much less such a small town and it easily meets the dietary needs of all clientele. (They even have gluten free buns for their burgers.) If you're going through Cedaredge or even if you want to make a detour off Hwy 50, you'll be happy you stopped at the Lost Mesa Grill for a fabulous meal!

My 6'5" husband asked politely for a larger table. The waitress gave us a heavy sigh, swooped up the menus, and walked over to a larger table, dropped the menus on the table and walked away! Your dinner entry soup or salad and every meal comes with a great free dessert. A small piece of cake, a scoop of ice cream and some cool whip with a drizzle of caramel. But for me, this visit was about much more than just a good meal. I used to come here more than 30 years ago with my sister. She and my brother-in-law are both gone now, and I wanted to come back and revisit a place that held some wonderful memories for me. I had the opportunity to meet the owner, and to my surprise, he remembered my sister and brother-in-law. He shared some wonderful things about them, and that made walking through the door worth more to me than I can really put into words. I'm extremely glad I stopped. They serve great traditional American food as well as absolutely amazing Mexican food. The service, cleanliness, food, and genuine small-town hospitality made this a very special experience. After a few minutes she gave me my biscuit and I told her she should really not talk bad about her customers when they are within an area where they can hear you. She apologized and tried to reassure me the reason why she was trying to get me to go with the other menu option. I told here I looked over the whole menu and that is what I wanted and how I wanted it. She understood and walked away. After a while my food came and it was all that I ordered except.....the chile. Not writing things down with usually result in a mistake of forgetting something. My waitress came by to fill up my coffee, more creamer and never said anything about forgetting my side of chile. After I was done she got me my ticket and then let me know she appreciated me saying something to her and setting her straight. A male food-prep worker with short, dark hair was preparing a salad in the restaurant kitchen…read more While making the salad, he deliberately SPIT into it, knowingly contaminating the food. Despite what he had done, he continued preparing the dish as though nothing had happened. After finishing the salad, the food-prep worker handed it to a waitress without telling her what he had done. The waitress, unaware that the food had been contaminated, proceeded to take the salad out to the dining area to be served to customers. This was an extremely serious violation of food-safety standards and could have put customers at risk of becoming ill. Food should always be prepared hygienically and handled responsibly, and intentionally contaminating food is unacceptable in a restaurant setting.

We had a platter of fried potstickers served with a platter of shrimp cocktail and a platter of Caprese skewers. Fresh baked bread and butter was also served immediately after the Hors d'oeuvres. The evening consisted of a price fix menu and I got the clam chowder which was just okay. Too many potatoes and corn for my liking and it was too thick. My entree was filet mignon with their version of mashed potatoes and steamed green beans with carrots. OH. MY. GOSH!! The beef was absolutely mind blowing good! The potatoes were stellar and the veggies were crisp and tasty. I did not include a photo of their fresh baked rolls, but those were absolutely amazing as well I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
