I have been going to and enjoying Daveto's for about 40 years. Never had a bad experience..food was always wonderful. Since they moved to Delta I don't frequent it as much but always made sure to stop in or order to-go when we're passing through. I placed an order for pick-up of my favorite hot Italian sub. For the first time in 40ish years I was very disappointed. Ordered our subs just the way I like it without onions and a side of creamy Italian dressing. Since we don't live in delta we decided to stop at one of the parks in town to enjoy our lunch before getting back on the road. subs had onions and no creamy Italian dressing and to top it off the bread was the size of a hotdog bun. I hope this was a one time mistake and not a sign of things to come. read more

If you are familiar with Delta, you know the choices are slim. This food was great even for a city that would have a number of options. I visited this Italian restaurant for the first time yesterday as we were on vacation in the area this week. The location was convenient right on Main St. (Rt. 50) right in downtown Delta, CO, the outside of the restaurant was nicely decorated, I was not greeted when I entered the nearly full restaurant (at 5:00pm), but waited at the front/greeter desk for several minutes without being acknowledged, was seated at a nice, clean table (booth) near the front window (awesome!), a friendly server came in a minute and asked what beverage I wanted, delivered it in a minute, then came in a couple minutes and took my order, their menu had a variety of Italian-related food choices in different categories, my meal (lasagna with a meatball and sausage and 3 pieces of french bread) was delivered steaming hot in just about 10 minutes and was sooooo delicious!, the huge dining room was clean and tidy, their free WiFi worked well (I got the password from my server), and no music was playing. read more

Management is very much lacking in this restaurant. The crap food now and crap service would NEVER have been allowed or tolerated under the original reign. My wife and I went to Daveto's for our 31st anniversary. We had by far the worst server and food we've had in recent memory. Our server acted like we were a burden to wait on. My and I wife weren't very happy having her order taken by an uppity server with a crappy attitude. There was no smiles or welcoming, just a scowl on her face. When we got our food, she more or less just dropped the plates of food on the table and walked away without a word. We didn't see her again until after I asked the server for the table next to us for a togo container. Then suddenly our long lost server pops up with a big smile and a togo box in her hand. Acting like she had waited on us hand and foot. She never came back to check on us for the entire meal. Both of us had needed a refill of our drinks as well as issues with the food Had she bothered to check on us, we might have had a slightly better time and meal. And lucky us, she was the one to ring us up at the register. She still had not asked how we liked the food, so I told her how it was. I had the spaghetti and meatballs. The meat balls were dry and very dense. As far as the the pasta.....well the spaghetti was so overcooked it was almost mush. It had 0 texture and ruined the dinner. My wife had the Alfrado tortellini. It was cold and the pasta was undercooked. I told this the server, who's reply was "I'm sorry" that was it. nothing more. I'm a retired chef with 30+ years behind me. The one thing that was impressed on me during my training was "Never let a customer leave unhappy" An offer of 1/2 off of a meal for the next time or offering free desserts...just anything would have made a difference That concept has been lost at Daveto's. They just don't care and it showed with the service and quality of the food. If you decide to go to Daveto's go at your own risk! Personally we will never go back. read more

We had a great meal here! We had our dog with us so needed a place with outdoor dining, and this was perfect. Even though the restaurant was busy with people waiting to be seated, we were able to be seated immediately outside and had fast and very attentive service with Deanne. Food was great... Had Toasted Ravioli appetizer, Cowboy Calzone, Portabello Stuffed Ravioli, Lava Cake with ice cream and Tiramisu. All very good. Would definitely return. read more

Meh. Nothing here is truly bad but nothing really stands out either. Just don't think too much about the dishes being Americanized Italian food and you'll be reasonably happy with it. The salads and soups are probably the best part; the mains are uninspired but tasty, and they all utilize the exact same marinara sauce. SYSCO must love supplying this place because it's not homemade. Service is quite good; prompt and attentive. It's always full early evenings (by 6pm) and empty by about 7:30 - farmer-rancher hours. If you live in Delta you'll see someone you know - it's popular. Ambiance is friendly, clean and bustling during peak hours. My husband and I found this place on yelp with very few reviews or pictures. We decided to go for it. Wow so happy we did. The place was packed with a short wait. The service was fantastic and fast. Even giving some very good advice on food choices. I had the spinach stuffed manicotti and it was the best I have had. So much flavor and you can tell the marinara sauce is homemade. The spot itself is your standard mom and pop restaurant. Nothing fancy inside and friendly service. Very average spot in terms of Italian food. The salad and pasta were both not bad but not great. While in town last Thursday I ordered a large pizza to go. Now, even though we live in Montrose, any time we are nearby we do this because we like their pizza so much. Well... all that has changed. The pizza we brought home was not up to snuff. In fact, it resembled a cheap frozen pizza from a discount store. Framkly, I make better pizza than that, so I will save my 28 dollars and do just that. Or I will buy a take and bake from their competitor, the pizza was THAT bad. So sad to see a good place compromise their product to save a few pennies. They just lost a customer. read more

Probably the best lasagna I've ever had. The wait by 5:30 on a Thursday was about half an hour, but it was worth it.

Arrived early, so as to watch the local Holiday Parade of Lights. Coming early, the table we requested, was open and we were seated immediately. I actually knew the original family/ owerns of Davetos and have literally been coming here for decades and was looking forward to our evening. Upon getting seated, after ordering our drinks, the very nice gal who seated us, came back out and told us we'd have to move at 5:45, as they "had a reservation". However, upon our previous request to make a reservation, we were told the restaurant "doesn't make reservations". When questioning the policy (which clearly wasn't a "policy" at all), we were told it was for "friend of Amanda"... I presume, Amanda was the owner. When I asked if "Amanda" was there... apparently she was, but was unable to step out and explain it to us. So, the sent another young gal with a very terrible dispostition and seated us in antoher location (which they could have also seated "Amanda's friends"). Stressing our dis-belief at their behaviour, the second gal said, "What do you want ME to do about it"? At this point is would have bee a GREAT idea for the owner to make a freakn' appearance, offer to comp us a glass of win and explain the reson someone else was granted a RSVP and we weren't. Then have a short little training session with the rude young lady. (I've also had quite a bit of experience in the service industry and have forgotten more than that young lady will ever learn). We decided to go elsewhere and had a fabulous dinner. I'll order a frozen pizza before I ever step foot in Davetos, for a $30 pizza ever again. No thanks! read more

Tried to make a reservation for 5pm to cut down wait time for a table since we have a todler. Last visit we waited 45 minutes to be seated. Their policy is only reservations for 5 or more people. Needless to say we opted to eat elsewhere. Daveto's loss. We tried to support their business but were met with an unwilling staff to consider all patrons needs. read more

I went to Daveto's for lunch while I was in town for work. We had the pizza sticks for an appetizer, and they were very, very good. For my entrée I had the special, which was the chicken Parmesan. It was also tasty. The Alfredo sauce was probably some of the best I've ever had. I will remember to stop by if I'm ever in the area again. read more

As far as restaurants go, Daveto's (pronounced Day - Vee - Toze) is the pride and joy of Delta, and for good reason. For many years they have been a local mainstay, enjoying strong local support in it's tight quarters. Then came a much-needed expansion. Shortly after that, this quaint little kitchen changed hands, ushering in a new look and feel. While they are not to be considered "Fine Dining', they do a great job filling their niche as a step above mid-level family Italian (and Mexican). You will find the dining room decore to provide far more than simply down-home diner feel, yet there are some lingering elements of the older ways. The walls are a rich wine color, accented nicely with congruent hangings, murals, relics, and lighting. The musical selection was thoughtfully chosen to exclude the common, vulgar, and over-used pieces of classic rock and Blues that litter and homogenize nearly every other establishment in the region. Rather your digestions is aided by instrumental Italian classics. Their service is always attentive, friendly and professional. That said, it's wise to consider that, during the lunch and dinner rush, you are not the only patron, so a refill of your iced tea may take longer than otherwise expected. While I haven't come close to trying everything on their menu, everything I have tried is above average. The salads are very fresh, though not anything out of the ordinary; their pastas and sauce satisfy any cravings for Italiano, their sandwiches rival anything else in town, and their Mexican items are what you would expect at any one of the other 3 south-of-the-boarder restaurants within walking distance. Great Italian restaurant in a small town! We were traveling through Delta on our way home to Grand Junction and wanted to stop for a bite to eat. Craving pizza we stumbled across this place and we were not disappointed. We ordered the Pizza Feast, which has a little bit of everything, and a side house salad. The pizza crust was perfectly cooked and well balanced with the toppings. The side salad was simple but good with pepperoni added which was a nice addition. They have a full menu that includes appetizers, pasta, calzones and more. Can't wait to go back and try other items on the menu. read more

Wow! Haven't been here in years and today we were in town and thought why not give it a try again. I will say when I ate it years ago it was amazing and having it today they have not skipped a beat. The fried ravioli was so tasty and the marinara was spot on. We ordered a sausage and jalapeño pizza and it was one of the best I've ever had.
