We've had other things on the menu before and it's always been good this time we tried the chicken fried steak and I have never had a bad chicken fried steak till this time. The gravy was very bland and the breading was soggy and not good. It's definitely the place the locals go, we could tell as we watched the servers interact with their regular customers, calling them by name and asking about their regular orders. I had the breakfast burrito in green sauce. It was huge and very good. My husband had a Delta omelet, which was also delicious! I ordered the house salad, a side of fries and Navajo Taco. The house salad and fries were the highlight of the meal as I was really disappointed with the Navajo Taco. It was not exactly "fried bread", but bread itself. So much to where I couldn't eat the bread part. My friend got the chicken fried steak which she said was a bit tough. I give this 3 starts because the waitress kindly gave me their homemade tortilla chips to eat the beans of the Navajo Taco with when I asked (thanks!). So good, I've been going here since I was a kid and every time I drive through delta I stop for the chicken crispitos

First thing first. Juan, the. Owner is extremely nice and always wants customers to have a great dinning experience. He is very outgoing and friendly. His employees are very nice and helpful also. Our Waitress was so friendly and helpful. She treated us so well that we will never forget the nice experience we had. We have been back since and will continue to do so. The food was very good. Breakfast burrito was so good with the green chili sauce. The Chefs salads and hamburger steak dinners are great and the homemade soups .You cannot go wrong and the made from homemade biscuits and yeast rolls are great also. Stopped in after a drive over Grand Mesa enjoying fall aspen leaves colors. This is a real local cafe. Owners cook and work all parts of the business. Saw one of them busing tables. Very friendly place. Homemade breads and generous portions are hallmarks here. Veggie soup was homemade with lots of veggies. Fries are cut in house from whole Idaho potatoes and are fried to a crispy but tender finish. Navajo Fry Bread had a tasty chili topping over a massive fry bread. Tip -- order the large size to get more chili topping. The fry bread is the same for both serving sizes. Also saw a tasty BLT and a very well made Patty Melt. We love this place! Small town feel with a home cooked meal! I had the chimichanga special with rice and beans and I normally don't eat that much but I ate it all because it was so good. We left with a cinnamon roll which I ate when we got home and continued to eat the next morning! The owner walked around and asked us how our meal was. Doesn't get better than that! I read the other reviews on here and am sad to say that my mom and I, who were on our way back from Moab to Idaho Springs, had a totally different experience than everyone else seems to have had at this local cafe. I agree that the service was not lacking at all...prompt, attentive and friendly. The restaurant was clean, although does need some updating; however, decor is not what makes or breaks a place, in my humble opinion. We ordered the burrito, which the menu describes as HUGE and had plans to share it. The menu was accurate...it was HUGE! The problem is that it was not good at all...I took one bite of the rice and refried beans - baby food immediately came to mind. The rice was over-cooked so it had the same consistency as the beans and neither had any flavor at all. In an effort to give it a chance, though, I took several more bites and even thought that the saving grace would be the red sauce and the green chili that were served with it. There was no redemption, however. The waitress had warned us that the green chili had been "Americanized" and was gravy-like. I think they actually put gravy IN it, though. It had a very odd texture and, again, no flavor at all. The one thing that had flavor was the red sauce...IT WAS SPAGHETTI SAUCE! I have never had spaghetti sauce with a burrito and have to say that it's not my cup of tea. After several more bites and an effort to will ourselves to enjoy the meal, we gave up. We politely told the waitress that we didn't like the meal, left and went elsewhere. She was very gracious and we felt terrible leaving, but we didn't have hope that anything else on the menu would be any better. read more

A really good, if predictable Chef's salad! Added feature that I liked were the mild white onions and dill pickles. The dressing was deceptive as it appeared to have pepper corns. Buy nay nay! We had a wonderful breakfast. The pancakes are HUGE. The egg and bacon were cooked to perfection. In fact, I think the egg I had was the freshest, hottest, best cooked egg I've ever had in a restaurant. It's a down home, friendly cafe. Two things kept it from being 5 stars: 1. The place is desperately in need of updating. 2. I had to argue more than necessary about my service dog being there. After we got past that, though, the server was friendly and pleasant which says a lot about her maturity and basic kindness. read more

On Vacation in Colorado last week. While driving through Delta on the way back to Kansas City we stopped and had Mexican food at the reastarant. It was without a doubt the best Mexican food I've ever had. I would highly recommend C and J café to anyone traveling through Delta or to anyone who lives nearby who hasn't eaten there. My husband and I are locals and C&J's is our favorite place for a meal. I love Mexican food but my husband can't eat at the Mexican restaurants. This cafe is a great alternative. Juan's Mexican food is delicious. The menu is so varied too that my husband can choose anything from a burger to pasta or a salad.
