What an amazing experience at C&J Cafe! This is exactly what you hope to find in a small-town restaurant--a place where people genuinely take pride in what they do. The restaurant was immaculately clean, my drink was never empty, and my waitress was informative, funny, friendly, and simply great at her job. And the food was beyond great! But for me, this visit was about much more than just a good meal. I used to come here more than 30 years ago with my sister. She and my brother-in-law are both gone now, and I wanted to come back and revisit a place that held some wonderful memories for me. I had the opportunity to meet the owner, and to my surprise, he remembered my sister and brother-in-law. He shared some wonderful things about them, and that made walking through the door worth more to me than I can really put into words. I'm extremely glad I stopped. They serve great traditional American food as well as absolutely amazing Mexican food. The service, cleanliness, food, and genuine small-town hospitality made this a very special experience. If you're passing through Delta, Colorado, I highly, highly recommend stopping at C&J Cafe. There is parking out front and plenty of additional parking in the back. Some restaurants give you a great meal. Every once in a while, you find one that gives you a great meal and brings back a few wonderful memories at the same time. C&J Cafe did exactly that for me. Absolutely worth the stop! read more

I don't live in Delta but C and J's is a must-stop every single time I'm in town. They have THE BEST hamburger & fries I have ever had!! Their prices haven't gone through the roof like many other places. Waiters are always friendly & attentive! Fantastic service, nice atmosphere- small town diner feel! read more

CJ's Café is definitely one of our local favorite go to! We've had other things on the menu before and it's always been good this time we tried the chicken fried steak and I have never had a bad chicken fried steak till this time. The gravy was very bland and the breading was soggy and not good. The whole thing was just all wrong if you wanna make a good standard for chicken fried steak! the guys in charge of the cooking needs to go back to the drawing board on this one. read more

Everything about this cafe is great! The owner Juan and staff are amazing and very friendly! They made us feel very welcomed. It's not too often that an owner will stop by every table to welcome everyone and thank them for stopping in. Now let's talk about the food.... It's delicious!!!! Big portions that you're sure to leave some on the plate. I highly recommend this cafe read more

Green chili on the breakfast burrito didn't have any flavor. Use some hatch or Pueblo chilies.

Passing through, stopped by for lunch on a Monday. Had the Mexican plate with a smothered chimichanga and two crispy chicken tacos. My wife got the special, which was a half chili burger and she had the soup. Everything was delicious, and we had some apple pie for dessert, which was also great. read more

Nope - sad food, sad service, sad atmosphere, sad, broken and torn interior. It's a huge restaurant that has a cold feel. It was t busy when we went for dinner. We were so hungry, so we stayed. My husky ordered the roast beef dinner and I ordered a tostada. I totally had order envy until the food arrived. His meat looked weird and leathery, all of his food was cold. Mine was edible, but we both left hungry. read more

Local hangout for the community. Very friendly vibe. I believe the owner was doing double duty- greeting patrons and cleaning tables all the while with a smile. Breakfast burrito was very tasty. I like mine a bit spicier but it was flavorful. Cinnamon roll to go was amazing!!! Will go again next time we are in the area. read more

Stopped for breakfast based on other yelp recommendations and was not disappointed. It's definitely the place the locals go, we could tell as we watched the servers interact with their regular customers, calling them by name and asking about their regular orders. I had the breakfast burrito in green sauce. It was huge and very good. My husband had a Delta omelet, which was also delicious! Hash browns were crispy and well seasoned, and he opted for a "small" pancake, which covered the entire plate! We'll definitely be back! read more

While visiting from California, some locals recommended we give this place a try, and I'm glad they did. Food was excellent, the people were extremely welcoming, and the interior was comfortable, all at a great value. I will be coming back if I'm in Delta again. Thanks for having us read more

Used to love this place for breakfast! That ended with the condescending waitress that rolled her eyes and shook her head when I questioned the 5 dollar glass of watered down apple juice!! You know who you are!! I feel bad for the owner that has to settle for mediocre employees. read more

This is where the locals eat and the food is down home good!! A wide variety of food and the service is great. Thank you for making our day and feeling right at home. We will definitely return to this downtown cafe!!! read more

I ordered the house salad, a side of fries and Navajo Taco. The house salad and fries were the highlight of the meal as I was really disappointed with the Navajo Taco. It was not exactly "fried bread", but bread itself. So much to where I couldn't eat the bread part. My friend got the chicken fried steak which she said was a bit tough. I give this 3 starts because the waitress kindly gave me their homemade tortilla chips to eat the beans of the Navajo Taco with when I asked (thanks!). Remember to pay at the register (we were waiting for 10 minutes for the waitress to pick up our payment when we realized we needed to pay at the register). read more

First thing first. Juan, the. Owner is extremely nice and always wants customers to have a great dinning experience. He is very outgoing and friendly. His employees are very nice and helpful also. Our Waitress was so friendly and helpful. She treated us so well that we will never forget the nice experience we had. We have been back since and will continue to do so. The food was very good. Breakfast burrito was so good with the green chili sauce. The Chefs salads and hamburger steak dinners are great and the homemade soups .You cannot go wrong and the made from homemade biscuits and yeast rolls are great also. They know what homemade food is all about. read more

A restaurant for the locals. The service by Michelle was fast and friendly. The food was good and very cheap. We had a nice side salad (lettuce, not iceberg), a cheeseburger and chicken & cheese crispitos. For dessert we shared a slice of cherry pie which was good. For the prices, you get very good value here. #sbroadtrip2013 read more

Stopped in after a drive over Grand Mesa enjoying fall aspen leaves colors. This is a real local cafe. Owners cook and work all parts of the business. Saw one of them busing tables. Very friendly place. Homemade breads and generous portions are hallmarks here. Veggie soup was homemade with lots of veggies. Fries are cut in house from whole Idaho potatoes and are fried to a crispy but tender finish. Navajo Fry Bread had a tasty chili topping over a massive fry bread. Tip -- order the large size to get more chili topping. The fry bread is the same for both serving sizes. Also saw a tasty BLT and a very well made Patty Melt. Definitely worth a stop when you are in the area. read more

Hey folks nothing fancy here just good countrified food. So if you eat here check your California Foodie Conscience at the door. The staff was very friendly however when we walked in we got our big mixed-couple-once-over from some patrons. No problems just lookie-loos. Our wait person was very attentive. We'll come back cause we gotta wear the local gentry down. read more

The place looks like a really nice diner. Staff was very welcoming. Our waitress was a sweetheart, friendly and nice. The good service couldn't make up for the food. Had hamburger with mashed potatoes and gravy, it tasted just like it looked. Bland, artificial, just like out of the can. Don't want to assume it was out of the can, the place has so many good reviews, but I have a hard time believing you could come up with such tasteless food when it's homemade. Meat was underwhelming. One of the saddest meals I ever had outside a hospital or school kitchen. read more

Excellent Restaurant!!! read more

We love this place! Small town feel with a home cooked meal! I had the chimichanga special with rice and beans and I normally don't eat that much but I ate it all because it was so good. We left with a cinnamon roll which I ate when we got home and continued to eat the next morning! The owner walked around and asked us how our meal was. Doesn't get better than that! We will definitely go back to try the other items on the menu!! read more

I read the other reviews on here and am sad to say that my mom and I, who were on our way back from Moab to Idaho Springs, had a totally different experience than everyone else seems to have had at this local cafe. I agree that the service was not lacking at all...prompt, attentive and friendly. The restaurant was clean, although does need some updating; however, decor is not what makes or breaks a place, in my humble opinion. We ordered the burrito, which the menu describes as HUGE and had plans to share it. The menu was accurate...it was HUGE! The problem is that it was not good at all...I took one bite of the rice and refried beans - baby food immediately came to mind. The rice was over-cooked so it had the same consistency as the beans and neither had any flavor at all. In an effort to give it a chance, though, I took several more bites and even thought that the saving grace would be the red sauce and the green chili that were served with it. There was no redemption, however. The waitress had warned us that the green chili had been "Americanized" and was gravy-like. I think they actually put gravy IN it, though. It had a very odd texture and, again, no flavor at all. The one thing that had flavor was the red sauce...IT WAS SPAGHETTI SAUCE! I have never had spaghetti sauce with a burrito and have to say that it's not my cup of tea. After several more bites and an effort to will ourselves to enjoy the meal, we gave up. We politely told the waitress that we didn't like the meal, left and went elsewhere. She was very gracious and we felt terrible leaving, but we didn't have hope that anything else on the menu would be any better. read more

My family and I were on a road trip from Montrose to Moab, UT. This was a nice stop for lunch. We refuse to stop at "chain" or fast food restaurants and always try to dine local. The decor could use a little updating but the food was yummy (far from healthy tho) and price was right! Service was great and portions huge! Go hungry and enjoy! read more

A really good, if predictable Chef's salad! Added feature that I liked were the mild white onions and dill pickles. The dressing was deceptive as it appeared to have pepper corns. Buy nay nay! Those were small pieces of blue cheese. Delicious. One drawback, processed American and Swiss cheeses were used. Still a good offering. read more

A friendly, clean, local family owned and run restaurant. Had an excellent breakfast, the food was very tasty. Hot water for the tea was not as hot as I like, but it worked. The owner is a very hard working guy. Lots of locals, which is a very good indicator of quality. read more

My husband and I are locals and C&J's is our favorite place for a meal. I love Mexican food but my husband can't eat at the Mexican restaurants. This cafe is a great alternative. Juan's Mexican food is delicious. The menu is so varied too that my husband can choose anything from a burger to pasta or a salad. We love the local people who work here and feel right at home. read more

Stopped in with a friend for breakfast. Food was good and so was the service.

Good traditional home cooked type food. Friendly staff. Locally owned.

We had a wonderful breakfast. The pancakes are HUGE. The egg and bacon were cooked to perfection. In fact, I think the egg I had was the freshest, hottest, best cooked egg I've ever had in a restaurant. It's a down home, friendly cafe. Two things kept it from being 5 stars: 1. The place is desperately in need of updating. 2. I had to argue more than necessary about my service dog being there. After we got past that, though, the server was friendly and pleasant which says a lot about her maturity and basic kindness. read more
