FABULOUS FOOD FOR ALL DIETARY CHOICES. My parents moved to Cedaredge several years ago. It's a charming community, but restaurant options have been limited. My mother raved about how great the relatively new Lost Mesa Grill is and we decided to stop by on our way out of town. I'm vegan due to health reasons and eating out is always a chore for me. We were quite thrilled to see there were several vegan options on their rather extensive menu. We opted for the mushroom, black bean and corn tacos with a side of refried beans. The ingredients were fresh and absolutely delicious! Other items on the menu looked delicious as well, ranging from comfort food such as chicken fried steak to ribeyes to a southwest steak salad or roasted beet salad. (Marinated tofu could be substituted for meat.) Brandon, our server, was wonderful, and being a fellow vegan, he had great recommendations. And to top it off, the owner had a box of vegetable from his overflowing garden free for the taking! This restaurant is a fabulous little gem for any community, much less such a small town and it easily meets the dietary needs of all clientele. (They even have gluten free buns for their burgers.) Over priced food and rude staff. Will not be back Walked in and a waitress started to seat us at a VERY small table mashed against a corner wall. My 6'5" husband asked politely for a larger table. The waitress gave us a heavy sigh, swooped up the menus, and walked over to a larger table, dropped the menus on the table and walked away! We ALMOST left! Took 35 minutes to get our food. Food (hamburger and fries) was ridiculously expensive considering they weren't all that tasty. Between rude staff, over inflated prices, and very average food, we won't be back! read more

Service was very bad! We had a pick up order that sat on the counter the whole time we waited to be recognized.Completely ignored, no greeting by any one. Greeted and seat customer who came in after us, continued to ignore us. We stood at register for approximately 15 minutes. read more

Save your money. Stopped for lunch and ordered french onion soup and wife ordered plain hamburger with tater tots. French onion soup was made with undercooked onions and the broth was weak and almost tasteless. Cheese was not standard Swiss, tasted more like Jack or Mozzarella. Big gloppy piece of bread on top. Wife's tater tots were completely underwhelming and tasted like breaded pieces of bread. Onions on the hamburger were limp and looked like they were sliced three days prior. lovely and well designed restaurant in an unexpected place. All four of us were extremely pleased with our food. My goat cheese and chicken salad was delicious. Our friend's green chili burger was also a hit! The pork bbq sandwich and the classic burger also got rave reviews. Definitely worth a trip off the beaten path! read more

I ordered the southwest salad with tofu, which I was very happy to see here in a small town and it tasted great- but I think there was something off in it. Within an hour and a half it all came back up. I have no idea if it was the tofu or the lettuce (which is usually the culprit) but my husband had the same veggies I did and felt fine all night. Giving two stars because the service was great and it did taste good! The fries were outstanding. I would probably come here again for fries and beer/drinks but I'm not sure how I feel about the rest of the food lol read more

My wife and I love Lost Mesa Grill. However, I know I shouldn't order Mexican food from a non-Mexican restaurant. That being said, the burrito I ordered had waaay too much white rice in it and it wasn't smothered and not much flavor, except rice, refried beans and a little pork with alot of fat. We will always let people know that L.M.G. is the best restaurant in town and that we highly recommend it for it's friendly staff and great food! read more

This is my favorite spot to grab some food after a long hike up in the Mesa. Every time I've gone by the service and food have both been exceptional. They have really fresh salads. Both the beet and the apple salads were great. Also had the prime rib special and it was out of this world. They have ample seating inside as well as outside. Food was all fresh so it isn't speedy but it comes out quick enough. Craft beers too and they make sure to keep em coming. read more

My wife and I have been eating here for a long time. They never disappoint. The owner/chef is formally trained, and there are always a few pleasant surprises on the menu. Also, the staff is attentive and friendly staff in a comfortable small-town ambiance. The owner wants to hear about any dissatisfaction so he can make it good. the service was pretty good and I know there was little the server could do for the things that were just lacking.... for $19 you get two small tacos and some stale tortilla chips, the slaw was not fresh and the meal left us disappointed. A slice of chocolate cake was $11 (no price on menu) which was a surprise for an unremarkable slice of cake that seemed to have been frozen. we would have been better off just keeping it simple with burgers, I hear they are decent here. read more

Hands-down the best hamburger french fries and steak I have ever eaten. And I come from Texas the land of beef. This puts every single steak I have ever eaten to shame which is sad because I paid $80 for a steak. Not here everything is good cost good quality and the servers are awesome. I stopped in for lunch on a quiet Thursday while I was staying in the area for some work I was conducting in Hotchkiss. This is one of the highest rated establishments in the area, and has mostly positive reviews. I ordered a side salad with blue cheese dressing ($3.50 although listed in the menu as $5) and the Blue Mesa Burger (blue cheese and bacon) with tater tots ($12.50) along with a water with lemon. Service was prompt and friendly without being overbearing. My server was handling several tables at once with no problem, and it was apparent most of the folks dining in were locals. Side salad came out promptly - mixed greens, sliced mushrooms, a few chopped tomatos, croutons, and some red onion slices. Onions on salad and burger were a little "gamey" like they had been cut the day before and saved overnight, but not so strong they couldn't be eaten. The salad was a little on the small side, but well dressed and fresh. I'd happily pay the $5 for a slightly large bowl with a handful more greens. My burger arrived about 20 minutes later, topped with lots of melty blue cheese, red onions, pickle chips, more spring mix (there's my greens!) and a kinda sad looking pink tomato slice (not in season so its understandable). Burger was ordered Medium but arrived Well Done. Bun was a little dry and over toasted, but it worked well with the tangy blue cheese. The tater tots were cooked perfectly crispy and there was a mountain of them. I greedily ate every single last one of them. Water was refilled as needed, my server checked in to make sure the food was good (I didn't point out above issues as it did not affect my overall enjoyment of the meal), and the food was tasty and decent. If I was in the area I would definitely eat another meal at this restaurant - the fish and chips seem to be well reviewed, but I was trying to avoid another all-fried-food meal while I'm out on the road (a terrible habit). 4.0/5 Good Eats! read more

I went to this restaurant to enjoy a quiet dinner. The place was quiet and very clean. The staff was friendly and eager to help. The food was good but very expensive for what you received. My experience was ruined by four rude women who entered, sat down and made so much noise they disturbed everyone in the place. This behavior belongs in the bar not in a nice restaurant. When I told the waitress they were bothering us she told me they were just having fun. My parents would roll over in their graves if I ever acted like that in a restaurant. We have been going to Lost Mesa Grill for 2 years now. NOT ONCE have we ever had a bad meal. Everything Chef Evan creates is exceptional. We have been eating here since they opened and it only gets better. Recently had our 9th wedding anniversary here on New Years Eve. We eat here at least twice a month. More in summer when we stock the Fritchman Orchard store with our hot sauces and more. Where to start...Prime Rib is amazing. Tender and flavorful. My husband's favorite. French onion soup is the best after cutting down our Christmas tree on Grand Mesa on a snowy day. The burgers are the best in town (well seasoned) with crispy/creamy fries. Fish and chips are my favorite. Perfectly cooked and battered with homemade tartar sauce. In the summer they have a number of fresh vegetable dishes that the owners (Travis and Annie) grow themselves. Fried zucchini sticks, beet salad and more. Service is the best. The number 1 reason we come. The servers make the place 5 stars. Nellie and Nina are our favorites but Nathan and Dana are rock stars too! I want to see other reviews but not able to. I dont see review i made a year or two ago , then recently add to it. Food is good. All the servers except for 1 are wonderful. I have not cared to learn her name & i dont know what i did for her to treat me like crap . I often go in alone & just sit in the corner . Table for 2. I relly dont care how long i sit there because im only in the 2 person table & pay my bill . I also tip. Not great but i do. I have been there with other people also. She was all nice & smjles . Even with the tables around us . As soon as my friends left , so did her smiles & laughter & even service to me. The scowel & ignoreing of me returned. In a business where most people rely on tips , thats not good behavior. Because of her & only her, i will not intentionally darken their door step ever again. I was in Cedaredge for work and one of my coworkers told me about this place, and actually wound up going there two days in a row! Day 1 - Had a Chicken Caesar Wrap and a cup of French Onion. Wrap- lots of bacon, chicken, lettuce and the right amount of dressing- however it fell apart when I picked it up French Onion - Lots of CHEESE!!! The soup was good, but not great. it tasted a little bland. I wouldn't let this stop me from getting it again though- just add a little salt to it! :) Day 2 - Crab Cakes- cooked really, really well. A little too much aioli on top, but over all really good especially considering the fact I'm in a small town in a landlocked state. I was leery about trying LMG having eaten there when it was a different restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised. It has been completely remodeled and cleaned up. It's a bright comfortable atmosphere. The food was amazing! My order was a bit complicated, the wonderful waitress & marvelous cook were on top of it!! I have very high standards and I only have one suggestion....serve the fish tacos in flour tortillas or throw the corn tortillas in the fryer for 3 seconds so they don't fall apart when you eat them. Made reservations for 3 for 5:30 so we'd be able to get to a concert 50 yards down the street. Arrived at 5:25 and were seated immediately. Ordered food within 15 min. Food never arrived and we finally gave up and left for the concert at 6:40. Very disappointed! We've eaten & enjoyed it many times but will think twice before returning.
