A legendary spot on the western slope. I enjoy walking in and seeing everyone stop eating and look at me and then go back to their business. This is a serious locals joint. Everything is good but the pies are exceptional. Don't miss out on this place. 4.1.

When you dream of BBQ-this the place-at least in the North Fork Valley of Colorado. Having visited earlier in the day for breakfast - also delicious, noticed a brick structure in the middle of the building that was warm and then discovered it was the smoker. The aroma of smoke outside was fantastic! Have learned they use applewood. Made a must stop for last dinner of this visit. Ordered the pork ribs and from the moment I saw the plate - there was no talking and the serious eating began. Partner got ham (we Southerners do not take that seriously but it was very good.) Now about those ribs - how do you describe perfection? They were moist, flavorful, meaty and the applewood made them head and shoulders above usual BBQ ribs. Paired with a vinegar slaw and potato salad, the meal was great. A large snowflake roll accompanied the meal in case you needed to make a sandwich of the boneless meats. Then we get to the pies. We went with one of the best pecan pies I have ever tasted. The staff was attentive, helpful and afterwards (I probably attracted attention as I purred over the ribs) the owner Dave stopped by to check on us. Zack's is worth a trip to Hotchkiss even if you are not in the area. It joins Woodpecker's in Florida and the Germantown Commissary near Memphis as my three favorite BBQ spots in the US. Cannot wait for my next visit!

Bbq is great, but the ham is absolutely incredibly awesome. The best ham and pies anywhere.

Not that there are other dining options in this town of 70-80 year round residents :) We were in Marble on the weekend of their "Marble Fest", a multi-day music festival. Friday night we were so so hungry after a Jeep tour up to the Crystal Mill. The tour guides highly recommended Slow Groovin', and even told us what things to order. They did not lead us astray. The restaurant was SLAMMED. Hundreds of people were there for dinner and live music (a kick off to the festival). We had a large group of 9, but they got us seated inside within a few minutes. The food was ridiculous and priced super fairly. Good beer and full-bar menu as well. Fried okra was great. Mac-n-cheese was delicious and "yuge". Fries were house made and topnotch. The Manic Mayor Sandwich, had burnt ends and potato salad on Texas toast... DANG! Only thing that could have been better: the inside of the restaurant was ungodly hot. If they had roll up doors or windows that opened it would have been perfect. Don't miss out! Make Slow Groovin' BBQ a destination.

The perfect place to kick back with some good food and fresh mountain air. I ordered the brisket platter, and it did not disappoint. The brisket was tender, smoky, and packed with flavor. Everything is smoked in house and served with house made sides--I had the tangy coleslaw and hearty baked beans, both solid. I started with the fried okra, which came out in a massive portion, piping hot and incredibly crispy. Totally addictive, especially dipped in their delicious homemade ranch. To drink, I had a spicy Paloma and enjoyed everything out on their patio. Between the food, the setting, and the vibe, this place is well worth the drive. Highly recommend if you're anywhere near Marble.

The occasion: viewing the incredible "Keith Haring: Grace House Mural" exhibition at MCA Denver back in 2021. Towards the end of my visit, I went upstairs to the rooftop and purchased a bottle of Big B's organic lemonade. Organic ingredients include lemon juice, cane sugar, whole lemons and apple juice, along with filtered water and natural flavor. What I loved about this lemonade is the citrus essence was great, it was not cloyingly sweet (more moderately sweet), and the apple juice gave it a welcome, totally different taste not found in most lemonades. Drinking this delicious lemonade was a great way to cap off an enjoyable visit to the museum. On a different note, I didn't realize Hotchkiss, Colorado is actually closer to Utah than Denver. It's about 236 miles away from Denver. But if I'm ever taking a road trip, I would like to visit Big B's Delicious Orchards.

I don't like these because you are under pressure to decide what you want as well as those with you as a line forms behind you. Sit down with menu lets you review the options so you get what you want. The food? It was a medium "OK". Do not get the Mac N Cheese. It has something added that takes away any cheese flavor. It is over priced for what it is. And it is served in a jar! Three meals totaled well over $77 with drinks and a slice of bland cheese cake. Also tipping should be added AFTER the meal. Not at the register prior to getting the meal. You don't know what you are getting and the tip should be able reflect that. Have cash to tip and make your decision on how much. After the lowest amount of tip selected it came out to $96 for the three meals. That was the cost to find out I will never be going back. BBQ should have flavor. This missed the mark. Again, avoid the Mac N Cheese. Kraft Cheese and shells would have been an improvement. Just letting you know before you shell out your money. Staff was friendly.

As a single gal traveling it can be awkward sitting at the bar by yourself and I especially felt that here. People are polite and courteous but no one talks to you. We enjoy finding and supporting local establishments, but this time it failed us. If we hadn't been so hungry and needing a break we would have moved on shortly after arriving. It wasn't super clear where to enter, then no staff in the main restaurant and despite the sign saying go to the bar it wasn't clear where to get to the bar. I ended up asking a customer what to do when he said the only wait staff person was coming out of porch area. We needed to sit outside with our dog, but as we sat outside we had to deal with non-stop flies everywhere which we didn't expect. We had to swat flies while eating. It was very upsetting that a customer thought it best to come from the bar to smoke on the patio where everyone was eating instead of easily going to the parking lot. Our server definitely had a pleasant personality, but lacked experienced server skills. We had to initiate the conversation to get seated, where to bring in the dog since there wasn't outside porch access and also had to get our own utensils from the main dining room. The food was good enough, but expected more flavor from the menu descriptions We had the grilled chicken sandwich, BBQ Ham & Swiss, Ruben (the substitute for the Chicago-Style Italian Beef we all really wanted) and we had 2 orders of the Sweet Potato Fries & Coleslaw. The BBQ Ham & Swiss on the Pretzel bun was the surprise winner along with the and the Sweet Potato Fries were the favorites amongst the four of us. Again, I'll finish with that we probably were not the type of customers today to appreciate the establishment given our long day of driving with much more to go. However, we are glad the community has a place to come together for food, drink and as we left they had live music.
