We are not trying to be harsh with our rating, but we are being realistic of our experience for those Not from the area. We enjoy finding and supporting local establishments, but this time it failed us. If we hadn't been so hungry and needing a break we would have moved on shortly after arriving. It wasn't super clear where to enter, then no staff in the main restaurant and despite the sign saying go to the bar it wasn't clear where to get to the bar. I ended up asking a customer what to do when he said the only wait staff person was coming out of porch area. We needed to sit outside with our dog, but as we sat outside we had to deal with non-stop flies everywhere which we didn't expect. We had to swat flies while eating. It was very upsetting that a customer thought it best to come from the bar to smoke on the patio where everyone was eating instead of easily going to the parking lot. Our server definitely had a pleasant personality, but lacked experienced server skills. We had to initiate the conversation to get seated, where to bring in the dog since there wasn't outside porch access and also had to get our own utensils from the main dining room. The food was good enough, but expected more flavor from the menu descriptions We had the grilled chicken sandwich, BBQ Ham & Swiss, Ruben (the substitute for the Chicago-Style Italian Beef we all really wanted) and we had 2 orders of the Sweet Potato Fries & Coleslaw. The BBQ Ham & Swiss on the Pretzel bun was the surprise winner along with the and the Sweet Potato Fries were the favorites amongst the four of us. Again, I'll finish with that we probably were not the type of customers today to appreciate the establishment given our long day of driving with much more to go. However, we are glad the community has a place to come together for food, drink and as we left they had live music.

This was the only restaurant in Crawford that was open till 8 pm for dinner. There's plenty seating indoor, on the deck and at the bar area. It was open mick that evening. We got the boardwalk black and blue burger with fries and coleslaw along with a couple beers. It was delicious! We got the Apple strudel to go, yumm.

My beautiful wife singing that night. Met some new friends too. The Reeds! God bless you all and thanks so much for the fun.

July 18, 2026 - Montrose, CO…read more The dog-friendly outdoor patio first caught our eye, and then the name--Horsefly Brewing Company--along with its great reviews convinced us to stop for lunch. We're so glad we did! The patio is spacious and comfortable, with several seating areas that give it a relaxed atmosphere. Our server was friendly and attentive, and his recommendation of the Flatlander Chicken Sandwich ($15.99) was spot on. Since my husband and I often split meals, we ordered one sandwich to share. To our surprise, it arrived already divided onto two separate plates--a thoughtful touch that's becoming all too rare. That kind of service definitely earns extra points. The sandwich was delicious, with grilled chicken breast, guacamole, bacon, pepper jack cheese, and chipotle mayo, served with perfectly cooked crispy fries. I ordered an iced tea but couldn't resist trying a sample of their seasonal Peach Ale. It was so good that I ended up ordering a small glass. I'm not usually much of a beer drinker, but this one was outstanding. I only wish they sold it in cans so I could have taken some home! Before we left, my husband picked up a couple of cans of his favorite beers and a Horsefly T-shirt. Great food, excellent service, tasty beer, and a welcoming dog-friendly patio made this a memorable stop. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in the area.

Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience at High Alpine Brewing…read more We chose this brewery because we thought it was pet friendly, especially since they have a large outdoor upstairs patio. When we arrived, we were initially told dogs weren't allowed. I explained that our dog is extremely well-behaved and simply lays quietly under the table. The hostess said that was fine and seated us at a table right next to the outdoor area. After we sat down, three different employees approached us asking whether our dog was a service animal, even though another staff member had already approved her being there. By that point, we felt singled out and uncomfortable. The final employee was particularly rude and suggested we could tie "it" to a tree if we wanted to eat there. Referring to our dog as "it" and suggesting we leave her tied outside was shocking and unnecessary. Rather than continue feeling unwelcome, we decided to order a pizza to go. We had planned to stay for drinks, appetizers, and dinner, but instead we ate in our car. The prosciutto pizza was decent, but it was much saltier than we expected. At that point, we were just hungry and wanted to leave. What was most disappointing wasn't the dog policy itself--businesses are absolutely entitled to set their own policies. It was the inconsistent communication and the way we were treated after being told it was okay to stay. Instead, the experience left us feeling embarrassed and unwelcome. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

First, the pricing transparency on modifications is frustrating. My son ordered the $12 mac and cheese (which includes a drink). Upon ordering the server offered broccoli or chicken as an option. He chose broccoli, assuming it was a standard side swap or inclusion. Instead, we were charged $1 for the broccoli and an extra $3 for the fruit. Second, drink pricing was a letdown. -For $14 the frosted coconut margarita was served in a short highball glass rather than premium glassware. -I was charged $17.57 for a double Malibu Pineapple, (they added an extra $1 charge just for the pineapple juice mixer). -To top it off, the drink took 12 minutes to arrive because our server was preoccupied with a recently seated large party. Finally, be aware that they add an automatic 3% "Kitchen and Brewer Appreciation" surcharge to the bill, on top of normal tax and tip. While the food was great, the unbundled charges for standard mixers, deceptive side options, and extra surcharges leave a bad taste. Food: Rueben was great. Husband wished for more sauce but I thought it was the perfect balance. Kiddo loved the broccoli and mac. Pro tip: Check your receipt (which we didn't get until *after* we cashed out). Server (who was great, by the way) came to our table in a break from his large table and announced our total so we didn't see the breakdown until the text receipt arrived.
