Came highly recommended in paonia and did not disappoint. Delicious ! Photos with captions of our food.

    Kao Soi chicken

We came across this gem on the way to Aspen from Telluride. The restaurant looks nice and welcoming. The cocktails were delicious and creative. We got Pink margarita and lychee slushy something ( I forgot the name). Food were authentic- we had fried chicken, pad thai, dragon roll and kao soi. Highly recommend this place.

My fave is the Dynamite Roll (shrimp tempura, cream cheese topped with jalapeno, sriracha, masago, spicy mayo and eel sauce)...seriously...it's DYN-A-MITE!!!! The wine makes us happy because they provide a generous pour for your money unlike many other local restaurants. Bottom line, the food is fresh and incredible...service is always impeccable! But the real 5+ stars about Hiro is all about the owners and staff. They are professional and kind (with a lovely touch of humor) and ALWAYS make you feel like you're an extension of their family. Sometimes hero's don't always wear capes, because the real Hiro's here lie within the strong bond and passion this family has for their restaurant. You know how much I love to support local businesses and this is no exception...Howard and his wife Dewi offer a unique and quintessential restaurant that is much needed in our community. Highly recommend so be sure to Check them out!

The ramen itself was average. The broth lacked the deep, rich flavor you'd expect from a long-simmered stock, which may be due to their short service window. The egg also wasn't prepared in the traditional ramen style, which was a little disappointing as it was an additional cost. One highlight was the iPad ordering system, it was super easy to navigate and honestly one of the best parts of the experience. Being able to order and request the bill without waiting made everything feel simple and efficient. The mochi dessert showed a variety of flavors in the photo, but when it arrived they were all vanilla. I wish we'd been given a heads-up about that. That said, the staff were really welcoming and knowledgeable. They made sure we had an endless supply of wasabi and ginger, which was thoughtful, and we definitely felt well taken care of. Ryan was a standout bartender and made sitting at the bar more enjoyable.

It was an easy walk from our hotel, which was perfect because it was late, we were tired, and we were hungry. From the outside, it's connected to the Ramada and doesn't necessarily look like a fancy steakhouse. But once you walk in, it has a nice Japanese-style vibe. They also have an outdoor patio with market lights that would probably be great in warmer weather. It was mid-March and cold, so nobody was sitting outside. The young man who greeted us at the front was fantastic -- very friendly and super helpful. We grabbed menus and sat near the bar for a few minutes while deciding what to order. Inside, it's set up like a traditional hibachi steakhouse with several tables where chefs cook right in front of you. There were four hibachi stations and three of them were already full when we arrived, which tells you the place is pretty popular. I only saw one chef at the time, though, and a couple more groups came in while we were waiting for our food, so hopefully they had more chefs coming on -- otherwise that could turn into a long wait. I ordered the hibachi ribeye, which came with vegetables, fried rice, and a salad. The ribeye was tender and cooked perfectly. The vegetables (carrots, mushrooms, and zucchini) were really good. The fried rice was decent but could have used a little more seasoning. The salad looked pretty basic at first -- mostly iceberg lettuce with half a cherry tomato hiding at the bottom -- but I wanted to try the ginger dressing. That dressing was actually delicious and tasted homemade, and I ended up eating the whole thing. My husband ordered one of their combo bowls with chicken and fried rice, which he said was very good. He chose the miso soup instead of salad, and that was the only miss of the meal. It didn't really taste like the traditional miso soup we're used to. Overall, the food was very good and the service from the host made a great first impression. If we pass through Grand Junction again, we'd definitely consider stopping here again.

As newcomers to town from Los Angeles, we have high standards for sushi and service--and Kazahana exceeded them on every level. The atmosphere is cozy yet polished, striking the perfect balance between warm and professional. It feels intimate without being stuffy, and relaxed while still clearly serious about quality. A huge highlight of the night was our charming bartender, Ivonne from Argentina. She made the best whiskey sour I've ever had--perfectly balanced and unforgettable. Ivonne also introduced us to some truly high-quality sake, and it was clear she really knows her craft. Her knowledge, confidence, and friendly personality elevated the entire experience. The food was exceptional. We enjoyed the gazpacho, which was refreshing and beautifully prepared, along with the umi (sea urchin) and hamachi sashimi--all incredibly fresh, clean, and expertly presented. Every bite confirmed we were somewhere special. We feel so lucky to have found Kazahana so soon after moving to Telluride. It's rare to find a place that nails atmosphere, drinks, service, and food so effortlessly. We'll absolutely be regulars and can't wait to come back again soon.
