They don't play when it comes to the spice levels. In town for work and stopped by for some Thai and so glad we did. We arrived during the dinner rush and waited patiently to order after the 3 other parties that were before us. We got pad Thai and pad see ew. There are only three spice levels. We wanted to play it safe and did medium for both dishes. When our food came you could see the dusting of chili powder and I wish I took a picture. I was so glad that we stuck with medium. It was *almost* too much for me and I love spicy food. On my way to the restroom I saw a sign saying no refunds if the dish ends up being too spicy. Heed their warning! I have dined at this restaurant five times. It is authentic in the sense that the kind owner is Thai. The dishes have always been very frugal in the portion of vegetables in a dish. I don't think that the sauces used in most dishes are from scratch. It is kind of bland and unexciting and expensive. 20 bucks for a bowl of rice noodles with a few vegetables. Jungle curry was nothing like jungle curry authentic Thai restaurants prepare or like what I ate in Thailand. Nor was the Pad se Ew. It is pretty disappointing. I ordered the flat noodles with peanut sauce and I got a dish with flat noodles, a side dish with peanut sauce, and a few pieces of bok choy in another side dish. I basically had to prepare my own meal. Lacking in flavor and substance, but very reflective of Grand Junction in general. If I had paid six bucks for the meals I would have been complacent. Very lack luster. We had the spring rolls, chicken satay, a side of rice. Don't ask for a side or vegetables (they don't have any!) Tom Kha Soup and Massaman Curry. JT Nothing really great. The rice maybe and chicken satay. But the spring rolls tasted old and the peanut sauce was runny and watered down. The Tom Kha Soup had no taste. Truly the spring rolls were the most disappointing. I don't know how you mess these up except you have old stale veggies and food. So don't go here if you're visiting and especially not with kids. This place is well-loved and I can see why. The owners are lovely and friendly and the food good. The Massaman Curry is great. Big chunk a of chicken and packed with flavor. I preferred it to the Panang Curry, which is usually my go to at other Thai restaurants. The Panang Curry here had some twigs of the lime which were inedible and just didn't add anything to the dish. The chicken in all the dishes were tender. The Thai eggrolls are a must and so are the Thai Coffee and Tea. HUGE glasses of some of the best I've had. Great food. Try Massaman. Green Curry, Drunken noodles. Medium is quite hot by Colorado standards, as it should be. I wish there were more ingredients in the salad rolls/fresh spring rolls. Basil? This was a pleasant surprise. I just did not expect such good Thai food at a junky little spot in Randoville, Colorado. Parking is atrocious, the interior is like being at someones house, and the prices seemed somewhat high. But the food was great. We had a curry and a pad thai. My kid got spoiled on the pad thai we used to get by our previous house and I have not found another version he liked. Until here. He gobbled it up. The curry was very good. Not sure of their default spicy level (I thought it was written on the menu but they didn't ask when I ordered), but it was perfect. Only knock was that the chicken had some bad pieces that were just inedible. I would hope that's a one off and they normally use only the best chicken, right? I had so much hope for this restaurant but it did disappoint a little bit. I tried the ckn green curry, the ckn kra pao, thai cashew stir fry, shrimp tom yum, the beef salad, thai egg rolls (because they ran out of chicken stay) and the pad thai. The pad thai is probably the worst I ever tasted. It wasn't even pad thai. So do yourself a favor and skip that forever!! Everything else is just okay, I might be a little bias since I am half thai, but you would think it be a little better. You can also enter through the back and there's a waiting couch there. Dinner dishes all cost the same - $10.95 with a choice of chicken, pork, beef or tofu or $12.95 for shrimp. I got the Thai Basil with pork, hoping it would come with ground meat as described, but the pork was not grounded. However, it was delicious and I would get it again. Any time I come to GJ this is my favorite place to eat. This is the real deal, Thai food from Thai people that love to make amazing food and want you to love it. I always order Kraprow Beef and Pad See Ew and Thai ice tea. I have also had the Ginger Chicken. No matter what I have eaten the flavors are authentic and off the charts. Their hours adjust to the people and since this is family operated you might show up and they are closed but I don't see that as a fault, more of the family trying to achieve some work life balance and not remain open when no one is coming in. We really enjoy eating here! The staff is so friendly and the food is great!Every visit is so pleasant. Make sure you order your level of spice correctly. It is always easier to add spice with the spice/ground red pepper at your table. I like hot food and I generally order it mild here, but occasionally I order it medium. Food was pretty good, but their POS machine charges you an extra 3% when using a credit card and they did not disclose that information. I wouldn't have tipped 15% and would have paid with cash or debit card if I would have known. This is shady business and when I called them they just blamed the service their POS machine goes through. On the phone with my financial institution and neither them nor VISA charged a fee so the charge is being disputed rightfully so. This is a fee the restaurant is passing onto the customer and total bullshit! Your food was already overpriced compared to better Thai places such as Tuk Tuk's in Salt Lake City and pretty sure the cost of living is less in Grand Junction yet they have the nerve to still do this.
