This place is always great! Have been coming here since my sophomore year of high school back in 2018 and this place has never let me down. The prices have always been reasonable and great, especially for a student on a low budget. What happened to this place? I used to order from here all of the time. Haven't in a couple of years and was driving out that way and decided to do a pickup order. It was TERRIBLE! The rice was yellow. Like food coloring yellow. I ordered cashew chicken and couldn't even eat it. It was so bad. The restaurant was dirty when we went inside to pickup. Will never go back! Everything was made fresh when we placed our order (except the soup, I assume). The broccoli with the sesame chicken was fresh and crisp (I hate when broccoli is over cooked). The soup was delicious and had a ton of flavor and the beef pad thai was amazing. If you're looking for fresh take-out and exceptional customer service, this is your place. This is a small restaurant primarily for take out. But it does have some tables too. Service was quick and friendly. Order was ready when they said. General Tso Chicken was OK. Chicken pieces were nice size for eating and not over-breaded. I prefer it more tangy than this version, but this was still enjoyable. This place is the dirtiest restaurant in the Grand Valley. I ordered lo mein and there was a cockroach in my food!!!!!! Seriously, I overheard an employee point out to a lady working there maybe the owner, anyway the young man pointed out something bad in the food and the lady just picked it out and threw it in the trash and continued to use that disgusting and contaminated food. There are so many better places to eat in town without getting sick from this dirty place. OK, right up front, not "authentic" Chinese food. This is a take out joint. But I like it and I like that it is nearby. I love Chinese food on every level - from very esoteric dishes to 50's style Chinese American. If it tastes good - I will chow it down. I can't speak to delivery because I never do that. Too impatient!! I call in my order, get in my car, and it is ready the second I get there. I have to say - some things are better than others. And some of the cooks are better than others. I got a couple of really good meals and a couple of kinkers! My favorites on the menu: House special rice noodles (never overcooked, nice and garlicky, good veggies, shrimp, pork etc), Fried wontons (I am a sucker for these, crunchy bits of goodness to be dipped in sauce or put into my soup!), Mixed veggie soup (nice broth with lots of crisp veggies like broccoli, napa cabbage, carrots, baby corn, mushrooms, etc), Beef and broccoli, chicken with curry sauce. Not as good for me: Mu Shu Pork (it is listed in the spicy side of the menu, which should have warned - mushu isn't usually spicy and I don't love it that way. Plus the "pancakes" are not really pancakes), Chow Mein (don't judge me, some places this is the hidden gem of yummy stir fried fresh crunchy veggies and occasionally real noodles). OK so this place is by no means a sit down diner with the atmosphere or authentic Chinese food. That being said..... For what it is.... And it's fast food Chinese...... It's decent. They make the food to order so it's piping hot, so that's a bonus. You have got to be kidding, "best in town". When I order "Chinese", I don't expect there to be alot of "filler" in the dish. Filler is the stuff they put in to complete the order with things that are not in the name of what you ordered. Such as, celery, carrots, water chestnuts, green pepper, etc. These item can be in there to add flavor, but they should not be the primany ingrediants. When I go to a new "Chinese" place I usually order Kung Pao Shrimp and Beef and Broccoli as a test. Every Chinese place has these dishes. I ordered the large size/quart container of each. The Kung Pao Shrimp contained 14 small shrimp, 150 size, a handful of peanuts or about 20-25. The other 80% of the dish was filler, in order of amount, celery, carrots, green pepper, water chestnuts and the little corn on the cobs. No onion??? Not exactly Kung Pao Shrimp is it??? Really, 14 shrimp in a quart container. The Beef and Broccoli had about 20% beef and the remaining 80% was broccoli. Not exactly Beef and Broccoli is it???. Maybe if it was called Broccoli and Beef. The reason that Shrimp and Beef are in the name is because it is supposed to be the main ingrediant in the dish. But there is one container saving item, the rice was 100% rice!!! Restaurants have to do better, and people should not accept this quality of food. The flavor was bland for both dishes, even the Kung Pao Shrimp, which is supposed to be a little spicy. There are many other better places to go. Their prices were about average, and for what is put into the dish, the price was too high, it was no bargain. Nearby there is another Chinese restaurant, and for the same amount or a buck or two more the food is so much better. Sorry, but for this restaurant it's, been there, done that. We have eaten here two other times and food was good. This time our food was awful, EXCEPT for the hot and sour soup which is outstanding. I had a shrimp, scallop and crab dish, the shrimp and scallops were rubbery and the crab was imitation crab, which the menu did not say. My husband ordered a chicken and beef dish, Phoenix?, the chicken was fried beyond belief, just chew, chew, chew to try and eat it and it was all stuck together from the sauce. We ordered online for pick up at 4:15 pm, which was 45 mins away. I think it was cooked as soon as the order came through and sat for more than a half hour before we picked it up.
