My friends and I decided to eat lunch at Crested Butte before we decided to go for a hike & explore the area. We landed on Thai Chili 78. When we first entered, it was quite empty. There was literally no wait to go in. Later, some groups started coming in. In general, the owner was very friendly and seemed glad that we stopped by. It was sort of chilly outside, so I decided to opt for a MASSAMAN CURRY. It was delicious! Upon first sip, the curry tasted authentic like the other Thai spots around NY, so I was impressed. It was a solid dish. It had a decent amount of chicken, potatoes (which were chunky & had crinkled patterns on them - quite unique texture). Paired with the rice, I was quite full & very satisfied. I hit this spot on a Friday evening, and the space is actually legit--plenty of room to move around so you aren't cramped up while you're trying to wind down from the day. I started with the chicken Tom Kha, which was exactly what I needed to cut through the cold. For the main, the beef Pad See Ew held its own. The flavors were balanced and the beef was cooked right. I've had my fair share of Thai food across different cities, so while I wouldn't call this the absolute greatest of all time, it's definitely high-quality for a mountain town. It's good food, a relaxed atmosphere, and a much better move than whatever quick-service options are at the base. The restaurant wasn't super busy when we went- we had a group of 8 and our server didn't seem very attentive to us. Waters didn't get refilled, he didn't come to check on us, and gave us a hard time when we asked for separate checks for a few of us. The egg rolls I ordered came with 4 tiny rolls, I'm talking very very thin and small- for $10 I was expecting more, honestly. The cashew chicken was great! The food was simply not good. I didn't realize Thai food could not be good, but in this case, it was not good at all, not in the least.

Service was not great waited in line for upwards of an hour before getting seated and then had to wait even more before being helped. The potstickers were good and the duck soup was as well but could've been hotter. read more

Came here for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. We were able to find parking a couple blocks away. We were able to be seated quickly. The inside has nice decor. The workers were so fast it was crazy and they were so attentive. We were hungry after a long car ride and this meal hit the spot! They had tofu for a vegetarian option which was nice. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken and it was delicious. They also had spices like chili oil that we could add to our dish and add some flavor. Fit the bill. We came on a Fri night just before 6PM and had the option to be seated inside or on the patio (which looked like a great option)...we elected to sit inside. My son and I ordered the Green Curry ($19), Panang Curry ($19) each with chicken and both had the same comment....it was okay. My bride ordered the Thai Peanut ($19) and said it was fine. Our DIL ordered the Tom Kha Soup ($10) and really enjoyed it. They seemed short staffed and were hopping to try and keep up with all of the tables. 4 star rating considers the challenges of trying to run a restaurant in a remote location like CB. read more

There weren't many places open and most of the restaurants were open only after 3pm. We drove over 4 hours to check out this mountain town and were pretty hungry. So we did what anyone would do and find a busy restaurant. This place had an open patio, packed with people and kids. There was indoor seating, but they were not seating the indoor tables yet. We were quickly seated and we were able to also order right away. We got the Khao Soi and the fried rice. We were also provided with three containers of different kinds of chilis. Including chili paste, powder, and chopped in oil. I loved this!! This was the best part of the meal as the rest of the food was pretty average. Nothing super wow, but great for the price. Especially in comparison to the other restaurants around. Nothing out of the ordinary for a mountain town. The tables were very close together and I often had to move my chair so that people could pass by. And a table for 2 was kinda small but did the job. The weather was beautiful and it was the perfect day to sit outside otherwise. There are so many places to eat around here and a few Thai restaurants. He suggested all the ones I was considering... duck noodle soup, Thai Basil stir fry (properly made with the fried egg!), and khao soy. I was very happy with my choice - duck noodle soup. You can jazz it up with the sambal chili sauce and dried chili but the soup has nice flavor and lots of duck meat, veggies and noodles. My friend ordered pad Thai and liked it too. Coming from a place with no shortage of Thai restaurants, into a town with a few Thai options, this is probably one of the best Thai restaurants I have dined at. Aside from the food being well made, the service is above and beyond, and that was the best part. The staff is really kind and thoughtful. I also recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for gluten free options. Even though the menu doesn't detail which dishes are gluten free, there are plenty of dishes on the menu that can be made gluten free upon request. We tried Thai Chili on Elk Avenue for the first time this spring As so many restaurants were for Spring. Absolutely spot on for Thai Food. Excellent service and quick delivery of fresh, tasty, and hot food. Pad Thai is my go to and I was not disappointed.. my husband had pork dish and ate every bite . I rarely get dessert, so tried the Black Sticky rice with coconut. So glad we did because it was quite yummy and not too sweet. 3.5 stars, but Yelp doesn't allow for that so I'm being kind. Ambiance really notches the review up! Right on the Main Street with lovely outdoor seating and inside, a blend of traditional decor meets Crested Butte cabin vibe. Well done. The EDM club music threw me off though. Hmmm. I give the drunken noodles a 3 out of five. There's no sauce (which means it lacks flavor) so I'm not sure what makes them drunken. Also, it's lacking that amazing umami flavor. Super thankful the broccoli still had a nice bite. I also asked for it Thai Hot - #5 and the response was, "I'll bring you spices and you can make it as hot as you'd like." Here's the problem...when it's not cooked in it's not the same. And I think their crushed chiles may be stale because the heat was gone. I could only get it to maybe a 2.5-3 and I realllllly wanted 5. It's came out fast, but the service wasn't super friendly. Had to flag down to order a second glass of wine. Did so because I could keep an eye on my bike from the outdoor patio. Curious to try something else another time, but since the EDM just went manic, I'll pass. So nice to see this place on the main strip of town in Crested Butte! Though it doesn't blow you away with a big WOW, it's still a pretty nice place for a small town. Overall, a worthy visit! Plenty of indoor and outdoor seatings. Everything was well seasoned and I like the flexibility to adjust your own spice level. The portions are great and the meat-rice/soup ratio is perfect. This is the closest to Thai/Asian authenticity as you're going to get in CB lol I think the prices are a bit on the higher side but given location/supplies, I can understand it. The food did not disappoint so this is more of an FYI than a complaint. I really like the Thai teas! Creamy and refreshing, and not too sweet :) Friendly staff (except for the one lady, she was a little.. snappy and demeaning towards my party for something as little as not understanding the checkout process. For context- she placed the cardreader at our table and left without a word. The card reader screen didn't prompt anything either. So as we were making sure we didn't tap our card/paid twice, her lack of patience rlly shown. But everyone else was friendly!) This place far exceeded expectations. For a small mountain town, to find this quality of Thai food was really astounding. The place itself is so darling and cute. Tiny but cozy. Extensive bar menu, and solid Thai menu. My daughter had the Drunken Noodles and I had the Pad See Yew with chicken. Both dishes were very flavorful with fresh vegetables and tons of chicken. I was really amazed at the amount of chicken they put into this dish. The service was top-notch and seemed like a team approach. We were never without anything we needed. This place is nicely decorated and clean. The waiters were all so friendly constantly checking up on us and also giving some great recommendations. We ordered the Thai Ice coffee and they were good...not too strong of a the bitter coffee taste which I like. For appetizers, we ordered the edimame and egg rolls. Both good but nothing out of the ordinary from other Thai places. For dinner, we ordered the shrimp pad see ewe which was so tasty. It had a mild spice to it and big shrimp. The noodles were pan fried a little to give it a slight edge. We also ordered chicken panang curry which was our favorite, again mild spice. The sauce was a little thinner than normal so I wish it would have been a tad thicker. All in all a great meal for a decent price read more

A good Thai place in the heart of Downtown Crested Butte. There's not many affordable options to eat in the city but Thai Chili is definitely one of the most reasonable options. The food here is good and while it doesn't blow you away it's great compared to what's available in such a small town. We ordered the green curry and pad see ew, my favorite was definitely the curry! We took our kids (5, 3, 1) to Thai Chili for a casual dinner on the patio. Listen, the food was good, but the service was top notch! Our server paid so much attention to and interacted with our kids often throughout dinner, and really made them feel special! When other members of the team came by to drop food or refill drinks, they did the same. These are genuinely good people! Now onto the food! My wife had the pad thai, I ordered the khao soi, and the kids split a chicken fried rice with pineapple added. Pad thai was solid although I've had better elsewhere. The kids devoured the fried rice. But the khao soi... you have to order this! It is like a mix of a red curry with an Indian yellow curry powder. That might not be a great description, but this is the best item on the menu! I'd rec chicken or shrimp with it, you can't go wrong. read more

Food was good but the issue is the prices were not accurate, the menu price was not what we were charged for one of the entrees, it was about 5$ more and there was no price for sake on the menu, we were told 12$ but charged 16$. Not a big difference in price but it was a little sketchy, we asked for an itemized receipt to find this out otherwise we would have just signed for it and left. read more
