Egg rolls, beef pho and beef rib panang
    Keana M.

First time in Crested Butte and this winter didn't get much snow but we got here for the 3rd POW for the year! The pho had a sweetness to it which I wasn't used to. The red pepper oil was killer hot so be careful! My hubby got the beef rib panang curry which he enjoyed a lot. I laugh they call this place Thai Smile cause our waitress def looked like she didn't want to be there (no smiles and very short with us). St least they have good selection of dishes!

Headed down the mountain in a quieter space with incredible views of the range is this lovely refuge - Thai (and pho!) leaving me with a full belly and peaceful smile. I went for classic comfort food and had a very solid Pad Thai loaded with crunchy green onion & fresh pea shoots. New favorite thing: Thai Iced Coffee! Deep dark brew with silky caramel sweetness chilled to perfection - just right on a sunny day.

Tom Kha Soup with chicken & Larb Gai

Deliciousness! I got the Larb Gai (10/10) and it was Soo yummy! I ordered it hot, but could've easily done the medium since they have on the table the condiments should make it spicier. I also got the Tom Kha medium and wish I'd gone for mild (And I'm usually a spice, loving girl!) but everything was fabulous, and the staff was speedy, courteous and food got out quick.

Thai Fried Rice w/ seafood (shrimp & calamari) and green tea with honey.

Yes! Love this Thai place in CB! I had the seafood Thai fried rice & it was perfection. I ordered it with medium spice, but I love that the spicy mix is on the table so you can flavor it to taste yourself. The "bowl" of green tea with honey was exactly what I needed after my somewhat cool, rainy hike. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is fantastic. I highly recommend Thai Smile :)

    Duck Khao Soi

This place is very clean and the staff is very friendly! I had the Duck Khao Soi and it was amazing! Flavorful, thick curry with juicy pieces of duck (lightly fried). We also had a Massaman curry that was very good.

Ordered a couple different curry dishes which were excellent. Prices are quite low for a ski town. Will be back.

SUMMARY: Mediocre food…read more Despite the great reputation, well adorned facility, stellar location, and impressive menu, everything I ordered proved consistently disappointing. Calling this food ordinary is, at best, an overstatement. At each turn, my efforts invoked in salvaging the (food) entries was met with failure. Starting with a simple Caesar salad, the lettuce tasted several days old. Drenched in ordinary tasting salad dressing, the romaine lettuce became soggy from the presence of excessive dressing. The dressing was too strong in taste, akin to store bought lower priced varieties, and from this, proved difficult to eat. The portion was generous, however. WARNING: Do not order the minestrone soup. To explain: The minestrone soup proved ultra disappointing. With the amount that I paid, $12, for a bowl, I was expecting it to be of meal-like quality. Instead, it was also challenging to consume, being so vinegary, possessing a handful of some tomato slices and little else. It arrived lukewarm. Instead of ample carrots, beans, celery, onion, etc., with typically a delicious broth, all that I could detect was slimy tomato slices in a pool of vinegar. The "chef" needs to study quality minestrone soup recipes and completely start over, especially if customers are charged $12 for such. I was so looking forward to a quality and hearty minestrone soup. I haven't tasted anything so pathetic yet simultaneously overpriced, in years. Have they tasted this? It pains me to speak so passionately about something like this. But it was a disaster. The house bread? It was crunchy, also seeming to be dated, not stale, just not fresh. It wasn't warm. It was dry. The garlic butter was fine, but following the theme, ordinary, at best. I tried everything to make at least the bread come alive, heaping massive piles of garlic butter on it. Nothing could rescue the bread either. No olive oil was to be found anywhere on the table or tables in my vicinity. Very friendly staff was present, but their inexperience and lack of polish became annoying. Whatever virtue that the "soup" might have had was lost as it got even colder while she was talking ceaselessly to me. Yes, it arrived lukewarm before she was conversing. Friendly service, even if awfully informal, can't compensate for such a poor price - value relationship and mediocre food. I cannot recommend this restaurant. Perhaps they do a superior job on pasta dishes. Yet, upon perusing the menu, I couldn't find just a small or half portion of spaghetti. A jr. high aged boy near me somehow managed to order a small plate of spaghetti. While it looked ordinary, such would likely have proven sufficient tonight, even if such was likely only available on the children's menu. If this restaurant once served fresh and delicious food, something, at least of late, has woefully gone awry in the kitchen.

The noise level ruined the whole experience. I measured the db on my watch and it was typically mid 80's. I even saw a reading of 90 db! This means wait staff should be wearing hearing protection! The owners need to invest in some sound dampening panels or other technology. Food was average. We had a Cesar salad which was quite flavorful and crisp. We also had the elk cannelloni which was bland. I would not recommend the restaurant until the noise issues are addressed and perhaps try a different menu selection.

We took two seats at the bar and were lucky enough to have Tina helping us, she was so friendly and knowledgeable, really a gem. We started with the fiery passion and the rum sour and were impressed by the complexity of flavors in both, the fiery passion was a real winner, with a taste of passionfruit, and the habanero pineapple in the rum really coming through, but not in a overly sweet way, just enough. The chili sugar rim was a unique way to really set it over the top. The rum sour was also delicious, the Demerara, giving it almost a hint of an old-fashioned, but keeping it light and foamy throughout. Such an incredible set of cocktails. I also had the tomato bisque soup, it was so yummy and cheesy, and the staff were nice enough to bring out some local made bread toasted on the side. Then, Tina made us her own special cocktail, a take on a strawberry spicy rum, with an egg white to give it a delicious foamy texture. All the drinks are delicious, and Tina noted that they were the strongest cocktails in the area, with 2 1/2 shots per drink. We were definitely feeling fun and talkative as we were leaving. This place was so upbeat, with games to choose from, but still keeping a refined mountain vibe. We tried to go back again the next day, but had finished earlier and the bar didn't open yet! Bummer. We don't find our way to crested Butte often but next time we are there, it will surely be a stop.

Service is outstanding, food is scrumptious and the menu is even more varied and delicious when you dine in. We ordered two appetizers, crying tiger and crispy chicken wings. I ordered the beef noodle bowl and my husband had the duck red curry that he loves. Fantastic! The restaurant is small but beautifully decorated and maintained. We absolutely adore this place!

There were a few little fountains on the perimeter, turf on the ground, and decorations hanging from the trees. They had a really nice high chair with a tray for our baby. It felt like kids were welcomed even though the vibe felt upscale. They had plastic kids plates and cups. They were very accommodating of our sons dairy allergy. Even though they don't have an official kids menu they were helpful finding something that our 3yr old and baby might like. I got the yellow curry with tofu and it was excellent. The curry sauce was flavorful and warming.

In honesty, I'm giving it one more star simply because eating there, the service was the additional star. The pad see ew is adequate, with enough seasoning to remind you of the classic dish, though it doesn't quite stand out. There is no spice to the dish; the chili crisp upon request was more salty tha spicy. The wonton soup and wonton noodle soup are comforting choices--especially on a cold day--but the flavors could use a bit more depth. It really tasted a little lack luster; more on the sweet side. They also offer boba drinks, though these appear to be powder-based rather than freshly brewed. There are several fried rice options to choose from, which adds some variety to the menu. Seating is limited, so it's better suited for takeout or a quick meal. Overall, a serviceable spot that satisfies a Thai food craving when in a pinch, but not one that feels especially memorable.

Really lacked flavor and I'd say quantity of food + flavor + price warranted it a 3. We paid with tip, roughly $32 for Pad Se Ew Thai....They charge $5 for tofu. Was surprised that the dish cost $19 with no meat or tofu, but granted it is Aspen/Snowmass so I get it, but once you added in the tofu and tip came out to $32. Presentation of the food, actually looked great! Server was helpful. Potentially could have better flavor on other dishes, but I'd still think 32 for one entree is pretty pricey.
