    Garlic Roasted Prime Rib
    Garrett D.

If you are reading this, go on Friday or Saturday night and get the Garlic Roasted Prime Rib. You will not regret it, probably the best prime rib I've ever had. Great cut, little to no fat, all the flavor! And the garlic fries... My parents and grandparents have been coming here for years. We watched the River Bar transform into a great place to have a few drinks + apps before dinner. Great music!

Amazing food and great setting to have dinner at the back of the restaurant. They have a great amount of seating and you can sit by the fire outside and look at the river. I had the Olathe corn chowder soup as a starter and perfectly cooked and seasoned prime rib.

Arrived about 7pm and could tell the outside party had begun and no more seats were available outside so I took a table inside. Short staffed so it took awhile to get my wine and order. No ranch dressing avail for salads. They were out of the Brut Cuvée and said they had only ordered 6 bottles. Why if it's popular? Have 2 cases on hand instead but only a suggestion. The salad was like just picked from the garden, yum. I ordered their filet mignon medium. OMG, absolutely delish! That magic sauce over the meat went well with the mashed potatoes. Now the cream brûlée was authentic still flaming when it got to the table. Excellent finish to a great meal.

The inside bar. Old fashioned and salty dog.

Started out at the river bar. Beautiful part of the river but the Cottonwood trees were shedding so bad it looked like snow. Had a margarita for National Tequila day. Could not stay out there with my allergies. Got a table inside for dinner. Call for reserves because this place was packed on a Monday. Started with an Old Fashioned and the wife had peach sangria. Both great. Ordered a nice red blend wine and started with the Barrata ball and tomato salad. Then soup, mushroom for the wife and spinach/chicken for me. Both delish, we had to switch. Came with warm bread. Main course was veal marsala for me with broccoli and garlic mashers. The best veal that I have had in a long time. The wife had the snapper and said the sauce was delicious. Took canoles home for dessert. Service was fantastic. Everyone very nice. Great evening!!!!

stop by if you are into good italian food!

oh my, some great Italian food! i had the bolognese sauce with penne pasta. It had a depth of flavor, hints of fresh basil, and oregano. my husband had the salmon it was cooked perfectly. the salads were fresh and the soup was freshly made. We also had the toasted bread with tomato and fresh basil! perfect starter! the drinks were wonderful as was the house red wine! the tables were set so you had plenty of room around your dinner party. The waiter were attentive and friendly. if you don't know what you want ask them. They are happy to recommend.

    Chicken Picatta

We stopped in the other night for dinner (Thursday before Memorial Day weekend). We did not have a reservation, arrived around 7, and they were able to find us a table for two, right in front of the large stone fireplace. The bartender is also the reception/person who greats and seats you, and there was only one server on (he was great). The server came and took our order, and brought over some fresh, warm bread and butter (is there anything better than warm bread)? We ordered salads to start (Caesar and Garden), and both ordered entrees. I ordered the chicken piccata, which comes with pasta (choice of which one you want, however, no angel hair), I went with Linguini. You can also have your pasta with red sauce if you prefer it that way. The chicken was delicious, there were plenty of capers (hallmark of this dish), and I felt it was appropriately portioned. My husband ordered the chicken Parmesan which was an enormous plate of food, but very good. We skipped dessert since we were so full. Also can't leave out the delicious martini that I had - it was a cucumber martini and quite good and refreshing. Thanks for the great service and food!

We wanted to take a break on a long drive, so we sat down inside. We got lucky--no line. Our server was quick to greet us and brought cokes in big glasses with crushed ice. Yes. While we waited on food, I looked around and soaked in the vibe. This is a local's place in the purest sense, but has always felt welcoming, no matter where I'm living. Pizza--and buttered spaghetti w meatball for the younger diner--arrived quickly enough and we dug in. Mario's pizza stands out as "normal" pizza with every ingredient and flavor on point. You'll have to drive a long way to find any on par with Mario's pies. They're in my top three Colorado mountain town pizza joints and I've been to my fair share. The meatball from the kids' spaghetti was moist and tasty--good, not great. Five stars for simple excellence, good service, and the 60-70s pizza joint decor.

SUMMARY: Mediocre food…read more Despite the great reputation, well adorned facility, stellar location, and impressive menu, everything I ordered proved consistently disappointing. Calling this food ordinary is, at best, an overstatement. At each turn, my efforts invoked in salvaging the (food) entries was met with failure. Starting with a simple Caesar salad, the lettuce tasted several days old. Drenched in ordinary tasting salad dressing, the romaine lettuce became soggy from the presence of excessive dressing. The dressing was too strong in taste, akin to store bought lower priced varieties, and from this, proved difficult to eat. The portion was generous, however. WARNING: Do not order the minestrone soup. To explain: The minestrone soup proved ultra disappointing. With the amount that I paid, $12, for a bowl, I was expecting it to be of meal-like quality. Instead, it was also challenging to consume, being so vinegary, possessing a handful of some tomato slices and little else. It arrived lukewarm. Instead of ample carrots, beans, celery, onion, etc., with typically a delicious broth, all that I could detect was slimy tomato slices in a pool of vinegar. The "chef" needs to study quality minestrone soup recipes and completely start over, especially if customers are charged $12 for such. I was so looking forward to a quality and hearty minestrone soup. I haven't tasted anything so pathetic yet simultaneously overpriced, in years. Have they tasted this? It pains me to speak so passionately about something like this. But it was a disaster. The house bread? It was crunchy, also seeming to be dated, not stale, just not fresh. It wasn't warm. It was dry. The garlic butter was fine, but following the theme, ordinary, at best. I tried everything to make at least the bread come alive, heaping massive piles of garlic butter on it. Nothing could rescue the bread either. No olive oil was to be found anywhere on the table or tables in my vicinity. Very friendly staff was present, but their inexperience and lack of polish became annoying. Whatever virtue that the "soup" might have had was lost as it got even colder while she was talking ceaselessly to me. Yes, it arrived lukewarm before she was conversing. Friendly service, even if awfully informal, can't compensate for such a poor price - value relationship and mediocre food. I cannot recommend this restaurant. Perhaps they do a superior job on pasta dishes. Yet, upon perusing the menu, I couldn't find just a small or half portion of spaghetti. A jr. high aged boy near me somehow managed to order a small plate of spaghetti. While it looked ordinary, such would likely have proven sufficient tonight, even if such was likely only available on the children's menu. If this restaurant once served fresh and delicious food, something, at least of late, has woefully gone awry in the kitchen.

We also had the elk cannelloni which was bland. I would not recommend the restaurant until the noise issues are addressed and perhaps try a different menu selection.
