This restaurant is a little gem in our town! We always order pick up from them but today we went to have dinner and the experience was even better. Service is outstanding, food is scrumptious and the menu is even more varied and delicious when you dine in. We ordered two appetizers, crying tiger and crispy chicken wings. Both came with different sauces, and the one they use for the wings is something I would like to bottle and take home. It's tangy and spicy! We biked here for dinner with our kids. There was a bike rack nearby to park our bikes. We sat outside since it was a nice evening. The outdoor area had a really fun ambiance. There were a few little fountains on the perimeter, turf on the ground, and decorations hanging from the trees. They had a really nice high chair with a tray for our baby. It felt like kids were welcomed even though the vibe felt upscale. They had plastic kids plates and cups. They were very accommodating of our sons dairy allergy. Even though they don't have an official kids menu they were helpful finding something that our 3yr old and baby might like. I got the yellow curry with tofu and it was excellent. Cane here to catch up with old friends. The outdoor patio was so inviting lovely and wonderfully shaded on a warm day. Parking was difficult in the lot but we found some parking down the street. The service was slightly too attentive. We were hanging out and chatting to much to get to business on ordering. But once we ordered the food came out quick. My drunken noodles were tasty- spicy and fresh. My partner got Khao Soi noodles which is a northern Thai recipe that is served with crispy noodles. Unfortunately there were no crispy noodles, the broth tasted heavily of bamboo shoots which muted any other flavors from the curry. Probably would stick ti classic recipes here in the future. 3.5 stars overall. read more

Taste keeps declining and prices keep climbing at Mod's. Being a family run restaurant, I want to like this restaurant and we've been dining here since it opened, but alas the food is now no better than generic Asian-ish food. At our favorite Thai place (not Mod's and not in this valley), the chef is Thai, went to culinary school in Thailand and cooked professionally in Thailand for decades before opening a restaurant here in the US. And the food is amazing, every menu item. Mod's Thai is definitely not that. When Mod's first opened I saw Mod cooking and it was sometimes decent. Then for many years her husband (from Mexico) cooked - and the taste suffered. Now I see neither of them cook and they both work the front of the house during service and a team of line cooks make the food... some dishes are bland and some are cloyingly over-seasoned food. I suspect the line cooks never have eaten good or real Thai food or have any affinity for Asian let alone Thai cuisine. The last time a dish was good (Kao Soi) was maybe ten or fifteen visits ago, but we keep trying hoping for better, but nowadays every order is a disappointment (including several orders of Kao Soi). The pad thai is consistently terrible. I don't understand all the great reviews. Maybe people are fooled by the attentive table service or the ambience (which has continually improved) but authenticity and taste are unimportant? read more

It was served hot and fresh although it wasn't my cup of tea and not what I'm used to in a pad see ew it was still tasted. It's more on the soupy side than the pan fried noodles but still good. Worst pad thai i have had. It was noodles drenched in fish sauce and no other flavor. Chicken khao soi was also not good. Mango sticky rice was good. Vegetarians : please note, no vegetarian options. All curries have shrimp paste and fish sauce. Noodles has fish and oyster sauce. They cannot make any item without fish sauce or shrimp paste. So just something to keep in mind. read more

All around exceptional!!! The outdoor dining was comfortable and elegant. But the food was wowow! The duck spring rolls and dipping sauce were 5 star! The wine list by the glass was surprisingly interesting and we were very happy with what we ordered. The barramundi in green curry was perfectly prepared. The curry sauce was aromatic and the spiciness level was spot on! We like our Thai food spicy and often find our meals less hot than desired. The owner was fun to talk with and hear about his exit from Aspen to Basalt. Next trip, I think we will stay in Basalt! The prices are much more reasonable and the food was oh so good! This is a cute little hut tucked away from the Main Street in downtown Basalt. Servers were friendly and it seemed like a family owned business. I ordered papaya salad and drunken noodles. Papaya salad was decent. I did not care much for the thin noodles, it had a plastic after taste but the sauce was good. If you are looking for a summer salad, try papaya salad. Firstly, if you know us, we are big fans of Thai food so we were expecting the same flavors that we have eaten everywhere but this place threw us a curveball. We ordered the egg rolls which were a little oily and lacked distinct flavor, pad thai with tofu had a sourish taste to it and green curry was spicy unlike anywhere we've had.
