Great little local diner serving up real New Mexican food. Limited seating, so consider off-peak hours. Since this state is known for its green chile cheeseburgers, I had to try Fina's which is called a Mexican burger on the menu. Its a little unconventional: the burger is swimming in the chile sauce (see photo), so instead of eating it with your fingers you have to cut it with a knife and eat with a fork after sopping up the sauce with the bun. God it was good. Couldn't finish all my fries, too stuffed. The proprietor is a hoot. On the way out I noticed the overstuffed fruit turnovers in the bakery case. I wanted to like this place more than we did. Wife got the freedom dip (French dip) sandwich and fries. Was not good. The meat was dry and the dipping juice was weird. Fries were okay. I got fried beef burrito smothered in green chili. It was very good, though a little spicy. A word of warning, the full effect of the heat doesn't hit until you are done eating. Our service was good. This diner/Café has so much charm. It's overflowing. Pretty expansive menu featuring normal American type lunches with some additional Mexican fare. I went for the taco plate which came with rice and beans and cheese; chips and salsa were also included - all of this for $15! The decor of Fina's is memorabilia, primarily of Coke. They have a shelf of random hot sauces that is nice. Service is friendly and the feel of the place is warm. I would definitely stop back in here next time I'm in Chama! read more

The menu here is relatively limited and contains very ordinary lunchtime fare. Our food was good. Grilled cheese and bacon for me. Patty melt for my partner. Turkey melt for my sister. All were totally fine--unexceptional but fine. Our servers were friendly enough and very attentive. It's a small place, with seating for fewer than 10 total parties. After looking for a place to eat in Chama, NM. We stopped at Fina's Diner. I had a Cheeseburger with fries and my partner had a Club Sandwich. Both were a little dry and lackluster in presentation and taste. Service was nothing to write home about. We had to ask for condiments, napkins, extra water and the check. Came to Chama for a wedding! This small town gem is so beautiful! This diner most definitely has the small town vibe, famous locals and high school sports teams cover the walls, along with coca-cola collectibles and American Flags galore! There's only like 5 tables in this place but don't let that fool you. The food here is soo damn good! I got a breakfast burrito smothered in green chile... and this chile was so tasty!! Believe this chile snob. The heat was a good 8/10 but it didn't take away from the flavor of the green chile. Although it was just a breakfast burrito, it was definitely on my top 3 list! read more

First time visitor. Nice down home diner/cafe in small town Chama. Obviously a locals place based on a lot of people knowing each other. Nothing real fancy but the breakfast was very good. Service was a little lacking, had to get up and get my own coffee and serve never came back to table to see if we needed anything else, like more water, coffee or tea. read more

Small family style restaurant with limited seating. Easy to access main roads and ample parking. Food is average not bad not good. But for Mexican food it was rated number one in the trauma area so we thought we would give it a go. Everything is made with ground meat, either ground beef or ground pork. Open face burgers topped with either red or green chili seem to be popular. My husband had that and he thought it was OK. Frozen beef patty served with a few fries with condiments red chili over the top ,chili in a bowl consisted of a bowl of beans with green chili in it and topped with a little cheese served with two pieces of fried bread. Found ourselves in Chama for a wedding and had a fantastic breakfast at Fina's Diner. The place is so popular we had to wait a few minutes for a table but we took that as a good sign. I ordered the Elroy with a side of salsa and it was all very good..the omelette had hash browns inside which was a bit of a surprise..the salsa was fresh and very tasty. My husband ordered the Fina's Special which turned out to be a HUGE smothered burrito. Had we known how big it was going to be we would have just ordered that and split it. It was smothered with green chile that was very good. So good we heard the table over asking for a jar to take home. Our plates were so big we ended up taking a lot with us and eating it for lunch. First bite was heaven. Beans cooked for hours low and slow so they melt in your mouth. The green Chile thickened just right and the red has just the right amount of burn. It was beautifully executed So on your way by on highway 84 swing on in where the locals eat and greet you as walk in with a resounding good morning. Chama is a great little town, but as we learned it can be hit or miss as to whether any dining venues will be open on any given day or hour. Fina's Diner is the only place reliably open for breakfast. And all the locals know it! Fina herself is a fun force to be reckoned with, and the town's mayor served us our check. My husband ordered "Fina's Special" - the waiter didn't even blink, but boy were we surprised to see the World's Largest Burrito headed toward our table. You order at an outside window and either take it with you or they will deliver it to the tables in the outdoor tent. They set the table with paper placemats and provide plastic cutlery and lots of napkins. Our delicious bean burritos unexpectedly came with homemade chips and salsa, and sopapias and honey. We thoroughly enjoyed the extraordinary NM cuisine and hospitality. The wait staff were lovely and engaging. Realizing restaurants are not open for dinner on Monday in Chama, we also ordered chef salads to take to our motel. I got a kick out of watching my sister -- a salad connoisseur--devour the salad without regard to ladylike table manners. Fina's was a delightful northern NM experience. Why I love Yelp: probably would have passed this little spot up because it's not much to look at and easy to miss. We had the red chili and the green chili. Both are simple dishes with beans and topped with lots of cheese and onions. Green is a bit spicier. Both were great, but would have to give the tie breaker to the red chili. The sopapillas that come with the chili were delightful. Light and puffy, good without or with the honey. As good as eating beignets at Cafe du Monde. read more

I was told about this place by several different people. Finally had the opportunity to eat here. Mostly locals in this place, says a lot in a tourist town. As I travel throughout the southwest for work, I use huevos rancheros to set the bar for return visits to restaurants. Fina's had some of the best I have had in New Mexico. The green chile was outstanding! This says alot, because northern NM is know for its red chile. I can't wait to come back and try their red chile on my next visit.
