My wife and I along with our friend went here a couple weekends ago on a Saturday morning. It was packed and such a friendly atmosphere. The staff have cheeky sayings on their shirts and everyone was professional and friendly. I haven't even touched on the food! Everything we all had was hot, fresh, and so delicious. My omelet had "Surry Sausage" and it was one of the best sausages I have had. My wife had the pineapple pancakes and I gladly helped her finish those as well. My friend had the chicken biscuit with gravy and he was raving how yummy it was also. This place was so good we went back the next day!! I had the honey cinnamon cronuts - wow, wow, and more wow. So delicious. I was stuffed but I could have found room for 1, 2 or a dozen more. Generally crowded and a bit of a wait. But it's worth it. Every second is just eager anticipation for the yumminess to ensue. Great food with superior customer service! Last week, my daughter, mother, and I went to celebrate my daughter passing her driving test at the DMV. She chose The Egg Bistro as her choice. What a great choice! I have been to The Egg Bistro before, and my mother has on a more regular basis. Last week's visit confirms that we both need to go more often! The food was wonderful. From the Chicken and Waffles, to the Eggs Benedict. The main reason for this review....was the awesome customer service we received from Sarai! First the menu is very extensive with many unique items. I ordered the cinnamon French toast which came with 2 eggs, hash browns and a meat choice. For an up charge of $2.99 I could upgrade my meat to corned beef hash which I did. Literally when my meal came it was 2 complete meals. Delicious & delicious is all I could say. Upon my previous visit I had a bad experience and graded accordingly. I've avoided the place since and glad I gave it another try recently. Its high time I update it. I've dined here twice recently. The first visit, the return if you will, was a carry out order for the crew on a weekend morning and the second was a lunch dine in visit. First the carry out order. For this meal I enjoyed their Southwestern Omelette. The omelette was huge and filled with grilled chicken, Pico de Gallo, avocado and cheddar cheese and then topped with some house salsa. It also came with home fries and a biscuit. I've added a photo and it doesn't do the thing justice. I was pleasantly surprised and this totally reversed my opinion of the TEB. On my second return visit a co-worker and I dined in. We stopped in and were seated right away. No line at all however that changed right after we were seated. Good timing on our part. Being a breakfast guy no matter the time of day I went with an omelette again. This one was called the Firecracker. This monster omelette was filled with grilled chicken, Surry sausage, homemade Pico de Gallo, roasted red peppers, jalapeños and topped with pepper jack cheese. Sides were home fries and a biscuit. This was a hot one.... Hot and delicious! I came here for dinner thinking that they served breakfast/brunch all day. Boy was I wrong! I ordered the Broken Egg Burger and it was average. It was a little on the drier side, but the fries hot and crispy! I love fries. As for the appetizer, I ordered the Crab Dip. It was good, but I think the toast should have been toasted a bit longer. We don't go out for breakfast often but my wife recently told me that she wanted to go somewhere with "good hash browns". Hash browns are THE single thing for her that makes or breaks a breakfast. Anyone can scramble eggs and fry bacon but not everyone can do good hash browns for her. So, it was imperative that I choose wisely for this recent outing. After debating a few of our options, I decided we should head back over to the Egg Bistro. We'd been once before and enjoyed but we just hadn't made it back since the first time. We arrived later in the morning, around 10:30 am on a Thursday, and the place was still 85% full. But, we were quickly greeted and seated. Lauren was our server and really did a very good job. We liked her. My wife ordered her meal (scrambled eggs, bacon, toast) and was given the option for shredded or cubed hash browns. She chose shredded. I ordered the meat lovers omelette with toast and the cubed potatoes (I would call them home fries more than hash browns). I also ordered a biscuit on the side just to give the biscuit a shot. My wife loved the hash browns here. She rarely eats all of anything on her plate but she knocked out these hash browns. They looked great and apparently were for her. The meat lovers omelette was huge! It had bacon, two types of sausage, and cheese. I can't believe I am saying this but it almost had too much meat for my taste. It was packed full. I was full about halfway through but did I stop? Of course not. Re-heated omelettes just aren't any good so I plowed through! The home fries were good, as was the biscuit. Overall, we really enjoyed the meal. This is probably are second favorite breakfast spot that we've tried in the area. The place was non stop with customers and food being served all over the place. Some people get irritated with the wait but when you sit back and observe you realize that a business is booming and for obvious reasons. They even have a special empty room (20 x 20 in size) that I think just serves as a waiting area. I ordered the southwestern chicken omelet - grilled chicken, avocado, homemade pico, cheddar cheese. topped with salsa and sour cream. The portion was massive. So big I didn't even finish my meal (and many of you have seen me annihilate food). Believe it or not it was also delicious and felt very healthy. I liked that I was able to eat a lot of food but not feel like I was too heavy after. It's a perfect combination. My friend and I were able to have breakfast for lunch for all of $20 and we left very happy. We ordered breakfast take out and THEY got our order wrong then accused me of not being able to navigate their online ordering system. This is the message from the OWNER after I left a review on their Facebook page. I'm LIVID right now but I'll just share my story. We ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches meals that come with hash browns. When Dave came home and I checked the order all we got was sandwiches and no sides(WE PAID FOR SIDES). I called to ask why. When I was on the phone with Stephanie the General Manager, she was argumentative and dismissive. All I wanted was a "sorry about that we will remake your order". I didnt get that. I asked to speak to the owner,since she was the general manager. She wouldnt allow me to do that. She took my number down and said he would call me. This is the response he sent me. I wasnt rude to her. Instead of her offering to fix my order she too attempted to ridicule me.( that didnt sit well with me) My response was always courteous(I'm working on that. Fast service! We ordered and had our food within 10 minutes. Our server Heather was great! She was friendly and made sure our water and coffee were always full! My waffle and hash browns were delicious. I would have given 5 stars but I feel there is a lot of plastic waste. Great Breakfast Institution. Those words have some serious potential to be used in the same breath as Broken Egg Bistro in Chesapeake, VA. This review comes after the fourth time I've been to this establishment. While it is a drive of over 30 minutes for me to get here coming from Virginia Beach, it is well worth the drive. I was here with Yelp Elite, Nino R. yesterday morning after he arrived from Cali and we decided to get a good breakfast. He too has good memories of this spot (as can be seen by his review). I ordered "The Skillet" which was a choice I made in my mind to compare it to other "Skillet" creations from other restaurants such as Village Inn and Silver Diner. The massive size of breakfast that came with this meal left me speechless. If you see the picture I've posted you know what I mean. Now lets break down the "meat and potatoes" of this dish (which by the way there were some with the bacon and small potatoes) The meal came out in a bowl which caught me off guard for a second because traditionally a skillet meal is usually served... in a skillet! No matter. The amount of food (particularly the eggs) was astounding. They must have used about 6 eggs to make this creation. Combined with green peppers, onions, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese it was great. As for the eggs, they were cooked very well, soft scrambled as I prefer them. The meal also comes with your choice of sausage links or bacon. I chose the latter but felt afterward that for the amount of food I'll probably need to order another side of bacon to balance out the meal. The only disappointment came with the amount of potatoes used in the dish. There were far too few for it to extend me to finish the meal. In the end the amount was too much and about 3-4 eggs worth were left on my plate. The thing I like about this place and giving it a 3 star rating is the consistency of the locals who come out to dine here. Every time I've been there always is a buzz in the place and always a wait to be seated which says a good deal about the popularity of the place in only a few years time. I think their usage of fresh ingredients and large variety of choices does them well in a saturated market of IHOPs and Denny's in the area. A refreshing change when you don't feel like pouring a bowl of cereal or having one of those nutritious meal replacement bars for breakfast. In the end, to reach it's fullest potential I feel it just has to be what it is, something different, something new, and some place great with great food. For so many of us we take breakfast for granted. Hopefully, this place continues to change that way of thinking for many in the days and years to come. read more

I used to visit this location often for breakfast and lunch but only did dinner once due to a negative experience. My second experience was much better than before. You can tell that the managers of this place have put the focus back on customer service as I had no issues with anything. I visited on a Saturday night and sat at the bar for their Prime Rib Special. I received a 10 oz prime rib which I could have cut with a plastic knife. Very tender and not too much fat. The gouda mashers which I was hesitant to get because Im just not a mashed potatoes person were delicious, the side salad was very small and I received more dressing than necessary for a salad of that size but it did the job. They had half off margaritas (only $4 dollars) and they were perfection! I will definitely visit again for dinner now that I see that things have improved. read more

I would have to say that this is the best breakfast spot in Chesapeake. I've been here on two separate occasions, with about a year separating each visit. Each time I'm intrigued by the 12 egg omelet challenge. And each time I initially think I can take it, but then I remember the time I made a six egg omelet for myself and a friend and nearly died. So the 12 egg challenge is fairly simple. You have to eat the omelet plus 3 sides and Broken Egg pays for your meal. But who really wins with these eating challenges? Don't the people that finish all that food, hate themselves? And those restaurants that put out those challenges must have misogynistic owners. It's basically the equivalent of serial-killing in the culinary world. The breakfasts here are great. I haven't tried any lunch or dinner items, except for the onion rings which were good and of good consistency. I'll probably be back here in December so I'll see how lunch/dinner goes. A few of my friends gave this place good reviews so I decided to try this place out. The restaurant was clean and had a warm and comfortable atmosphere. I was greeted and was seated pretty quickly. I was served pretty fast. The food was good. I order the standard two eggs, two bacon etc. You get larger portion than you would at a chain restaurant. Hopefully they'll figure it out if they take reservations or not on a Saturday. The place was full of patrons but there were a few tables that were open when we came to eat around 12.30. We waited a few minutes before we got seated and then waited about another 15ish minutes before our food came out. The wait was a little bit longer than anticipated as it was only Breakfast food they were making.. I got the french toast with bacon and two over easy eggs for 8 bucks. Came with 4 slices of french toast and two slices of bacon. The french toast was fluffy, crispy on the edges and tasted amazing. The eggs were also beautifully cooked and runny just the way I like it. The bacon was just so so. My gf got the the waffle with shredded hashbrowns and sausage patties. The waffle was good, the hashbrowns were under seasoned and the Patties were overcooked and dry.. Hopefully it was just a bad batch. Good prices, and I enjoyed my meal. This place is always packed! Great breakfast place for sure! This is not your average ihop. They serve mild beverages from beer to mimosas! Highly recommend the pomegranate mimosa. The service here is okay. Nothing special. The people were attentive but they do get extremely busy so its not as if the servers can check on you every 5minutes. Nonetheless, they don't just forget you. The food, oh the food... its pretty great! I always get their omelette's and it never fails to fill me up. The eggs they use tastes fresh and not one of those pre-mixed fake stuff. The ingredients inside were fresh as well. My gf always gets the french toast and boy are those amazing! Price wise, it's a little more than what you would spend at ihop or dennys but i think its worthed. The only problem I had would probably be the room temperature. It gets really hot in there! This breakfast Cafe is by far the best breakfast I've had in a very long time. I ate the Benie and The Grits Eggs Benedict. The flavors were explosive and the depth of flavor was phoneminal. This was a very nice find! We were visiting family in the area and decided to stop by. We had a short wait at about 8:45 in the morning but that's okay. We started with the half price mimosas and they were delicious. Then we ordered the cronuts, French toast, and pancakes. Everything was delicious. Our server was great as well and the atmosphere was nice. We had to send our food back under the warmer because we had a little accident with our kiddo but our server took it back without a problem. The crab dip wasn't too impressive, but the tuna tartare was nice and plump. For the entree, we each ordered some type of seafood.
