It's a little overwhelming. The fried chicken is great. It doesn't come with biscuits. You have to order those separate. The Mac and cheese was great, but it doesn't have any toppings like additional cheese or breadcrumbs. The horseradish mashed potatoes are good. It's a decent portion. The potatoes are chunky. The surprise hit were the fries. They have a nice seasoning that's not just salt and a very interesting aioli dipping sauce. I didn't see any desserts on the menu. Pleasantly Surprised Birthday Dinner I had been hearing a lot about The Eagle, but had never made it in for a visit. So I finally got the opportunity to come in while celebrating a friends birthday. When I look at any menu and see limited entree diversity I immediately begin to worry and my expectations for quality and taste shoot through the roof. With fried chicken being their only real option available here, the bar was immediately raised in my head, and I can truly say that The Eagle delivered. We had a very large group, so the timing of service was off, but that is to be expected when you have one server for a room full of people. The Sloppy Joe and Chicken Sandwich was delicious! I recommend those for entrees. I also liked their mac and cheese, but it is like every other mac and cheese dish out there, and it was a little dry. Their Spoon Bread is also yummy! The prices for these dishes are a bit on the higher end, so if you're on a budget, this is not the place to go. This is a great place for groups and families. We went in there on Saturday Feb 1st and went to order drinks and food. My friends were sitting at a booth while I was ordering drinks and food at the bar. Meanwhile a server came up to them and told them they couldn't sit down....my friend said but we are getting food and drinks and the guy said if we are ordering from the bar we can't sit there. Note that there were no reserved signs or signs that you can't seat yourselves. The waiter said "that how I make my money". Upon hearing this I gave my drinks back to the bartender....we didn't even drink a sip. The food had not arrived and I told the bartender that we will like to cancel our order and leave. I explained to him what happened and asked if I can get a full refund. He said yeah and ran my card. We left and went to a different bar! A week or 2 later I was checking my card statements and noticed I got charged the amount at Eagle not only just the tab but the tip also! So I called and spoke to the manager! The manager said they couldn't do anything about it and to call corporate to get a refund. She said the corporate email and phone number are on their website! Well she lied! I just want to get refunded for the drinks I didn't drink and food we never got and the extremely unprofessional service! UPDATE: still never received my refund! I hate to admit that this place is located right down the street from my apartment and I spent the first few years thinking it was just a bar. Even when I heard they had food, I made a judgement that the food wouldn't be good here because it's a bar. Ugh! Chalk this under places I stuck up my nose at and now love! I figured it was time to try this place out but I also had low expectations since I know they specialize in chicken sandwiches and I am already super dedicated to Hot Chicken Takeover. Our server was nice, friendly, kind of quirky. He kept the environment fun and lighthearted. We were seated near the door, but the weather was still nice out, so we enjoyed it! I was disappointed they didn't have Platform beer here. It's my fave and I usually can find it anywhere I go in Columbus. I opted for some type of Cinci IPA and it was ok. I ordered the Chicken Sandwich and my friends and I decided to split many of the sides. We got fries, mac & cheese, and cornbread. Our food soon came out and WOW! What a feast! I didn't know where to dig in first, so I started with the sandwich. It was fantastic!! I dipped it in their housemade ranch, which was delicious and zesty! The chicken was all white breaded meat with a perfectly seasoned coating. The fries were well seasoned and crispy. The cornbread had a delectable glaze on top. And the mac & cheese was so creamy. This is comfort food at its finest! I was extremely impressed and even texted my friends the next day saying all I could think about was this meal. I have been back once so far to get take out and it was also a great experience. All told, this place is different from Hot Chicken Takeover. Very different vibe and the chicken sandwich is equally delicious, just.... different. This might be one of my new faves in the Short North! read more

After living across the street from this joint for the past few months, I finally stopped in for a drink and bite to eat. It was pretty busy Saturday evening in the Short North and after putting my name on the waitlist, I actually found a seat at the bar and opted to hang there instead of waiting for a table. The bartender was the friendliest fella ever and got my drink order asap. My friend and I chilled for a bit, watching some sportsball and enjoying our Eagle Iced Teas. The drink was very similar to a long island and certainly packed a punch! After a while we put our order in and my goodness, the menu looked awesome! I'm a vegetarian and still had tons of options to choose from aside from the chicken. I eventually settled on the Country Green Salad and split the homemade biscuits with my friend. The food came out pretty quickly which was an amazing job on the kitchens part, considering how busy the place was. My salad was super yummy! The mustard vinaigrette was really light and flavorful, the candied pecans added a nice crunch, and the radish and cucumber definitely hit the spot. The biscuits were really good as well. The blackberry jam was awesome, paired with the honey butter, and you got yourself a winner! All around, this dinner was a complete success! I can't wait to come back and try some other items on the menu. I didn't order the mac n cheese this time around. However, my mouth watered as it was delivered to the guests around me. I decided to come here with the family due to my experience at the location in Over The Rhine in Cincinnati. We happened to find ourselves in OTR right when the Eagle out there opened up for the first time. There was a long wait to get in, but we got on the waiting list at the right time to avoid a 2-hour delay. At this point in my life, I hadn't eaten a lot of fried chicken, so when I ordered the chicken here, it tasted like the best-fried chicken that I had tasted in a while. So when I saw that we were getting one here in central Oio, I was overjoyed. As the family and I made it down High Street, we hopped into this establishment to try this location. There was a slight wait, and the individual that greeted us was delightful. Once seated, we all looked at the menu to see what we wanted. I got the chicken again since I enjoyed it so much at the OTR location. The chicken didn't taste great as when I first tried it, but it was still pretty good. Its texture is spot on, and it's evident that they take the care to brine or marinate the poultry before adding that seasoned flour into the mix. I will have to come back and check out the chicken dish I had again and see if I update my current adjectives. My best friend and I made our first trip to The Eagle last week. The positive: Food was pretty tasty and the location and view were incredible. The negative: Service was horrible (and it wasn't even busy while we were there). One of the entrees (fried chicken sandwich) was wrong when brought out; when we politely let the runner know the item was wrong, he scoffed and said "OK." That's it! No one else said anything the remainder of our meal. Once we got the corrected version, it was crisp, juicy and delicious. It took a couple tries to get boxes from our waiter before we gave up and got them ourselves from the host stand. Overall? Probably won't come back. read more

This is one of my favorite places. I really enjoy coming here. The food is great and the people are fantastic. This is one of the best places, in my opinion, to get fried chicken that isn't made by your southern granny. The chicken skin is always crispy and never dry. I especially love that the have a spicy honey. I usually eat my chicken with honey and hot sauce and this is perfect for me. Their side items are amazing and come in cute little presentation dishes. Their drink menu is also one to brag about, from a variety and unique standpoint. I believe I hat the blackberry lemonade. It was great. I am never disappointed when I decide to eat at The Eagle. I literally crave this place all the time. I have tried almost every side food item. This visit me and and amir went for a double date for my best friends birthday. Everything was exactly how it should be. If you have not already made your way to The Eagle, you should absolutely do it soon. Five stars doesn't do The Eagle justice. My girlfriend and I have been craving some good Southern Fried Chicken, and we finally found it here. We ordered a little bit of everything here. A healthy order of chicken, a side of biscuits, some spoon bread, French fries, and Mac and cheese. And the chicken was the star of the show! This chicken was crispy and juicy! On top of that the honey that comes with the chicken was just delicious. That combo would be my last meal if I had to choose. Let's get to the sides, the fresh fries were par for the course and nothing crazy but some good fries. The biscuits were a little on the dense side but with the jam and butter, they were unresistable. The Mac and cheeese was nice and cheesy with perfectly cooked pasta! But the star of the sides was the spoon bread! That could have been eaten as dessert by itself. It was THAT good. I think we found our new favorite chicken place.
