I've been craving a BLT lately. The sandwich helped with my cravings. As stated on the menu the fried chicken blt is a chicken bacon, avocado relish and jalapeño honey mayo and a side of biscuits and jam. Just was what I needed Of course I needed a frosty adult beverage of a blackberry lemonade. I was seated quickly in my booth and server promptly took my order. The restaurant seemed busy for Friday night. Lets learn about the food: The fried chicken blt was crispy and moist with a bit of spice. It was enough for me what took it over the top was the jalapeno mayo. Is it mayo? Is it ranch? The sauce was spicy but not to spicy that I could not eat it. It made the sandwich complete. It didnt give me the typical goopy mayo vibe which is not my favorite. I dont do mayo ever. Of course the stars of the show to me were the bacon and avocado. The biscuits and jam: It was ok. Id like to have the biscuits fresh from the oven. The biscuits were slightly warm but not piping hot. The website could use a little work to display prices or at a note saying pricing may vary. As is it currently the prices for food are listed when doing a take out order and listed on a limited take out menu. The Eagle is a Southern beer hall, serving up drinks and meals in a stylish open air restaurant and patio on High Street. They offer a solid happy hour from 3-6, featuring half off beers and discounted appetizers. I tried the fritters, half a southern chopped salad and the fried chicken sandwich for which The Eagle is know. The fritters were simple but tasty, and garnished with a spicy dipping sauce and chives. The chopped salad ($6) was delicious and a great value. I went for the half size and it was large enough to be an entree. The salad was full of fresh tomatoes, crispy bacon, toasted pecans, and even green beans, and it was topped with a tasty mild blue cheese. The sandwich was a-okay; the meat was crisp but not too flavorful and the sandwich was topped with a mountain of coleslaw, which was slightly overwhelming. It may have been that I was full, but the sandwich didn't really blow me away. Personally I'd prefer to see the coleslaw on the side along with some fries. Service at The Eagle was friendly and efficient, and the bartenders were eager to chat and give recommendations. Overall a fun spot for happy hour. read more

Service was super friendly. Our waiter made sure our drinks stayed full. The atmosphere is cool. Love the outdoor seating. This is where I sat. My friends and I ordered a bunch of sides and apps to share. Everything was so delicious. I especially enjoyed the mac & cheese and biscuits (others pictured are iron skillet corn bread, horse radish mash potatoes, and kale & artichoke dip). The sides are good sizes since everything in the menu is a la carte and could get real pricey. I will be back to try the fried chicken! **update. Strolling around the Short North, we decided to stop in. The reviews suggested we'd get great food, iffy service, and a big bill. Well, the food was great, the service was very good, and the bill was reasonable. The big draw is the chicken... and we had great fried chicken yesterday, and still had some in the fridge, so we passed. We each put together a few sides and apps. I had a sweet tea (good, not great) and a Madtree stout (very good.) Sweetie had Abita root beer (on draft, and we already knew it was good.) She started with mac and cheese: creamy, rich, very good. Also had biscuits (fine) with blackberry jam (okay) and honey butter (meh.) Plus collards, very good. I had the grits: thick, creamy, amazing, with a touch of heat. Artichoke dip with greens: very good. And a half order of burgoo, which was plenty big, and great: meatier than most, savory, amazing (and again, a little heat.) All in all we had a lot of great food and plenty of leftovers, which made the slightly high bill turn out to still be a great value. Service was excellent. The place is cozy and welcoming, though the "communal booth" thing was lost on us, and would be annoying if the place was packed. Good music playing. The eagle is an interesting place. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They weren't too packed on a Saturday night so we stopped in for a drink and a snack. I had a vodka soda and hush puppies. The food came out pretty fast and it was not bad. The service is the reason I'd give them 3 to 4 stars. Waitress may have been having a bad night but it seem to be a big deal when we ordered food at the bar to be taken to our table outside. Will come back here again For the food and the environment, buthopefully the service is better next time. read more

The Eagle is a welcome addition to the Short North! They have a large patio, massive bar, and cozy booths. It was a hot day and the doors were open so the a/c was struggling to keep up. Service was wonderful and the bartenders were quick. I like that the menu is a pick-and-choose style and are meant to be shared. We were restaurant hopping and just needed a small bite, so the quarter white meat chicken was perfectly shareable. The meat was crispy, juicy, and perfectly spiced. We also ordered a side of the biscuits with blackberry jam and honey butter. The jam and butter were incredible, but the biscuits fell short for me. They tasted just like my homemade biscuits, which is usually a good thing, but I expected a more unique flavor from a southern style restaurant. That deep mahogany color one who loves fried chicken adores - a crisp exterior, moist interior and the best seasoning from the first nibble to the last - especially when you drizzle a little of that spicy honey on the goodness. I ordered a half chicken and shared ... but I did not want to share. The sides were delicious (corn bread especially) and I also got a salad to help ease my nutritional fears of eating a pile of fried chicken but what still is in the front of my mind as I plan for my next indulgence of this all-American wonder of a food is "when can I return?" I also had a bourbon punch ... very fun to watch made but even more fun to enjoy during your stay as you wait for the chicken, as you eat the chicken and as you digest the chicken. I've been coming to the Eagle since it opened and their food has always been great. It's something different from most places in the Short North with really affordable - and delicious - food. The service is always friendly and quick too. I planned a birthday celebration in July 2023 at this location and the experience was top notch from initial email outreach to walking out after an incredible time celebrating with 20+ people. Hannah was incredible to work with to arrange a food ahead of time and the staff day-of were equally amazing. Their cocktails could be more affordable, but after all, it is the Short North and their food prices make up for it. You've got to get the pickled green beans and Chicken BLT! read more

I've eaten at some locations outside of Columbus but only visited the Columbus restaurant twice. The restaurant is super cool, with a great patio area. They are also in a great location in the center of the Short North. I have to say I am impressed with the menu. The last time I visited was for a family event so there was a group of 9 of us who all ordered different items from the menu. I sampled a lot of the side dishes and had some of the signature fried chicken. Everything was delicious and good sized portions as well. Our service was very good on a Saturday evening. I ate dinner here today and was happy to be seated pretty quickly outside. Unfortunately the service was pretty slow--seemed like forever before the waiter took our order and the waiter wasn't attentive. As a result, the rating has to drop a point for the spotty service even though the waiter had a friendly disposition. As for the food, my favorite was the chicken sandwich. Very tasty and big sandwich that will not leave the eater hungry. The po boy sandwich was also tasty. The fried chicken was ok. It didn't seem like it was taken right out of the fryer and didn't have a real crispy skin. I liked the biscuit and sweet potato dish. The Mac and cheese was ok. Great cozy spot for good fried chicken. I didn't care for the fries because they had what I thought was too much seasoning. Other than everything was very good. I am a huge fan of fried chicken, so I have heard about The Eagle before and am happy I finally tried it out. I stopped in during a slow afternoon around 3:30pm. I had a carry out order that needed a few more minutes so I took a seat at the bar. The bartender and wait staff were friendly and funny and the brew selection was great. I grabbed an IPA and before I finished my order was ready. Headed to a local park to see friends and have a bite to eat. The food was better than expected! The chicken was cooked perfectly, crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. The spicy honey dipping sauce was sooooo good... I could dip anything in that!!! I also had a few biscuits with there creamy butter and sweet raspberry jam, this was a real treat. To top it off I had a side of Mac and cheese that was sooo perfect. This spot is step or two above most fried chicken restaurants you'll ever find. They do the basics better with more creativity. read more

O-M-G THE food here is amazing. I'll get to the atmosphere in a minute lol! We started off with the Sausage and Kale Cheese dip...amazing. Then we moved onto Shrimp with White Cheddar Grits, Mac and Cheese, Collard Greens and Fried Chicken. My husband had a beer and all this goodness was only about $40. What more do I have to say? The food is absolutely amazing and so tasty. Reminded me of the food we we eat when we visit Charleston,South Carolina. Can't even wait to go back again! The atmosphere was nice! Great patio and bar area. My only reasoning for giving 4 stars is because we sat in a booth and the seating is communal. Almost had to share a table with 3 young fellas which I'm sure would have been just as awkward for them as it would've for us. They decided to sit on the patio instead of sharing the booth with us. I've been to The Eagle twice now and I must say when you're craving some good down south cuisine that you don't feel like whipping up yourself The Eagle does not disappoint! I was surprised that when I walked in this time my party of four was sat immediately. They are usually packed! Plus they have a full bar with TVs so I was expecting more of a crowd with football being on! Our waitress was on it! Drinks within the first minute of sitting down! Appetizer was swift as well. My boyfriend ordered the brown sugar bacon. I'm assuming it was amazing because it was gone in a blink of an eye. (He ate it ALL)! We also got the 1/4 white meat, sweet potatoes, and macaroni! I love how each side is meant for sharing. It was just enough for two people who LOVE to eat. Spoon bread is definitely a must!! It was moist and sweet! They give you honey for the chicken and this time I mixed it with hot sauce. If you love a mixture of sweet and spicy this is for sure the way to go! This is fried chicken heaven! Just stop reading reviews and go to this place and you won't regret it. I've had essentially everything on the menu, but always go back to having just the fried chicken, side of mac and cheese, and maybe the cornbread if I feel like indulging. The location is prime, in the heart of the Short North. The space is large, both inside and outside. They have a wonderful outdoor patio which is somewhat rare for the area.
