Solid, friendly Irish Pub in Inman Sq. Area. Burger was excellent, cooked perfectly rare. Lee has the Fish and Chips which came wrapped up all nice in newspaper. Veggie burger was enjoyed as well. I wish I could select 0 stars. I have had many great experiences here prior to this night. This new server is extremely unprofessional and screamed at my friend. to paint the scene: he asked if we were there for food or drinks and my friend said "I'm not sure if we're getting food but ask my friends at the table" and he said "that's it... you're out of the table" which is so rude. I understand only offering tables for grabbing food, but have a host that offers those options. he rudely kicked us out of our table without giving us another way to stay in the restaraunt. ambiance is still great tho, just wish this server didn't ruin our night by being rude and off putting. read more

This is the place where I ordered my first ever beer (I was here on my 21st birthday). Guinness was great! Liked how they poured it 3/4 full, waited a bit, and then added some more to top of the glass. -- While I have no confirmation of this the person next to me said they have the best Guinness in town. I am inclined to believe him. Druid burger was perfect all around. One of the best, if not THE best burger I have ever had. Patty was cooked actually cooked medium, and not overdone as most places seem to have a tendency to do. All burger ingredients come together wonderfully, and are all in appropriate proportions. I will also give them major props for a good solid bottom bun, and not one that falls apart immediately from moisture. Fries were some of the best I've had too. Not cooked to be crispy and solid (like matchsticks) but still hot out of the fryer, with amazing seasoning, and the slight softness really worked for them. Bartender (John) was awesome too! P.S. The Druid- The "Jerusalem" of Irish pubs Jerusalem is a city of contrasts. Three major religions that compete with each other call it home. The contrasts at The Druid are the excellent food (5 stars) and the extreme noise (zero stars). A year ago, in the pandemic, we dined outside with friends. The waiter wasn't keen to sit us at the far end of the tent, but it was worth it because it got pretty loud even in the tent. Nevertheless I was able to carry on a conversation with my friends. My wife had beef stew and I had shepherd's pie. They were outstanding dinners combined with a draft black and tan (Guinness and ale). It being 2022 there is no more outside dining. It was 5PM on a Sunday, nevertheless it was possible to get a table indoors right away. We were seated next to three loud drunks sitting in the corner. (Corners are extremely effective at focusing sound.) Being young, they didn't seem like drunks the way that three 40-year olds would, but they were just as loud and lost-sounding. Finally I waved my wife off and put in my earbuds. Sometimes the noise-cancelling works better when volume is turned up in the earbuds, but here I was with the Grateful Dead turned up as loud as it would go and I couldn't hear it. I thought something was wrong with the phone. So my wife and I communicated by text: Me: I'm having trouble hearing you. We might as well read; It's too loud to read or talk. Wife: What would you like to chat about? Me: Let's just read and save the texting for the time when one of us is in a coma. Wife: Lol. I am surprised they don't have some baffles here. Me: If the restaurant is filled what possible economic incentive is there to pay for change. Wife: Right. We ate in the stunning noise. As before I thought the food was outstanding. My wife, a bit more of a sensible eater, thought the stew could use more vegetables. Maybe so, but the meat was incredibly tender, like the inside of my head. read more

Considering Boston's huge Irish American population which has shaped Boston to be what it is today, when in Boston, you've got to try an Irish pub. The Druid is by far the best Irish pub I have been to in Boston. With its lively and equally strange decor, live music, and well-prepared meals, The Druid is more than an Irish pub. It usually gets very crowded and if you are not intending to eat, you'll have to resort to the bar, but this isn't necessarily the worst thing. Their two most ordered dishes are the Beef Stew and the Fish and Chips for good reason. The Beef Stew was made up of a large bowl of soft tender meat with potatoes, string beans, carrots, and a delicious stew sauce that could have easily become a filling soup on its own. The soft bread they brought to the table soaks in that delicious stew soup and made the meal all the more enjoyable. For those pescatarians who will be foregoing the Beef Stew for some delicious Fish and Chips, the breaded fish was fluffy, soft, and had no excess grease whatsoever. Their Druid Burger as an alternative was a solid burger with a well seasoned patty. Servers take their job seriously and ensure that you have an enjoyable experience. Their beer list could do a bit of work, but get a Guinness or another one of their draft beers for a complete pub experience. read more

While visiting Boston, I searched Yelp for Irish pubs. Came across The Druid and it looked good. Took Uber over to Cambridge and there it was! Inside was very cozy. Excellent service. Variety of menu items that worked out great. I usually have concerns because I'm vegetarian, but The Druid has a very tasty veggie burger. Also, The Druid draws an amazing Guinness. Total perfection! As I was becoming comfy with the good food and spirits, a group of musicians walked in. After some chatter, they all grabbed a table and played hours of beautiful Irish songs! I was in heaven! Primo! Been going to Druid for years. They got the full package: food, service, live music/DJs, and ambiance. Food is always on-point (fresh, locally sourced, well executed). Staff/bartenders are great (for over 7 years all the ones Ive met have all been straight from Ireland!). The live Irish musicians always kill it and the Thursday night DJ be poppin. They even have trivia some nights. Taps, on point! Ive eaten the beef stew, sausage mash and beans, chips and curry, shepards pie, and salads. Even the complementary bread and butter (Cabot :D)... It seems like I had an outside-the-norm experience here, judging by the other reviews I've read. My friends and I stopped in for trivia -- which costs $5, for anyone not aware -- and started out at the bar. They don't seat at tables until the entire party has arrived, which makes sense. They also made sure to ask whether all of us would be eating, which was a little strange. I unfortunately wasn't impressed by the service in general; nobody was unfriendly, but they just weren't super attentive. It did get quite busy, so it was understandable, but frustrating nonetheless. They had a small-ish beer menu, but it was easy to find something I wanted. The food itself was good. I really enjoyed the burger and fries and my friends both had good experiences with the bangers & mash as well as the fish & chips. This is the best place for Irish pub food in Cambridge. In particular, I like the bangers and mash, shepherds pie, beef stew, and fish and chips (which is served up with traditional fanfare, steaming hot inside a sack made of newspaper). Ok so I listed most of the entrees on the menu, but that just means most everything is wonderful and authentic (well, except they use Chinese newspaper). The beer selection is average, but they have the staples. They are standard price and nothing to write home about. I'm conflicted about rating the ambiance. On one hand, our waitress was exceptionally diligent and skilled. She was friendly even to the fellows at the table to our right, who would have been exact copies of the asinine Harvard d-bags from the bar scene in Good Will Hunting had they been more attractive. She was patient with the group of oblivious Asian kids who dumped all of their bags at the table to our left--the largest of maybe five in the tiny bar and the only one as yet unoccupied--and spent the rest of their time sitting at the bar. She remained stoic in the face of the belligerent hockey fan who hollered after every. Single. Goal. She did crack a smile when his team lost, though, possibly the most gracefully understated display of schadenfreude I've ever witnessed. Despite all this, she served everyone with speed and accuracy. So yes, on one hand there is a kind, competent, Irish-accented wait staff, but on the other, your fellow patrons might include some irritating types.
