I'd walk, I wouldn't run to eat here. Parking is terrible, I had to make loops to find street parking. If you want to avoid headaches and park somewhere there are lots that very from $30-$75 depending where you go it is not cheap and I almost did not eat here because of that; if you're commuting by train/bus that is best case scenario. The service was amazing! Our waitress was attentive, and friendly. It did take time for our food to get to us on what appeared to be a slow night but we got our entrees not too long after our appetizers (starters). The food was bland, we ordered the Burrata, General Tso chicken, and the bayou Pasta. The menu has a bunch of selections available. I will return to try more from the menu but this time around was not good, temp was good, presentation was awesome, taste was bland and a let down. The restaurant is beautiful, they have a bar, booths and high-tops. Taverns don't usually look this great, but this one inviting, cleanly, and pleasant to be in. Despite the terrible parking situation, and blandness of food I would definitely try this spot again, but I'm in no rush to do so.

We went to Tavern in the Square without a reservation and we were given a table. (Very unusual for this area!) since it's across the street from TD Garden there is heavy foot traffic around and reservations are highly recommended. This particular time we weren't looking for a big meal just a little something so we wouldn't be hungry later on. We ordered a pizza. We were pleasantly surprised by the taste and happy that it was just the right amount for two of us. Then we also had room for dessert so I had the chocolate chip cookie with ice cream and caramel sauce and my husband had the seven layer chocolate cake. (He couldn't finish it) it's definitely big enough for two or three people to share. I wasn't leaving any of my cookie and ice cream behind.

Great place to stop by for dinner or a drink prior to going to an event at the Garden. Great craft beer selection.

I was staying nearby and looking for a casual place for a quick dinner. I ordered the fish and chips which was pretty good. FYI, it's a big fish of fish rather than several smaller pieces if you are looking to share. The service was super quick, and this looks like a good place to chill and watch a game.

Tavern in the Square was on my must-visit list while in Boston, and I couldn't recommend it more. My group and I were unable to make reservations but only waited for a bit to be seated. The place was packed even on a weeknight, and I can see why, the food and drinks were fantastic. They have a super impressive gluten-free selection including elusive gf fried foods you normally can't find in restaurants. I loved how many gf and vegetarian options I had to choose from and share with the table. The service was great, and we received everything within a reasonable amount of time. My only regret is that I didn't return prior to driving back to Jersey.

I have to say Boston is a very unnerving kind of place but this place offered me great food drinks and service. Steak tips w broccoli and fresh mash while watching 3 basketball games a football game and the weather updates...yeah nice place to revisit...

Was visiting Boston and needed a quick bite and walked in for dinner. It was a weekday evening and there were some folks but also enough space at the bar so was able to get a seat right away. Service was friendly and in line with other similar spots. Food was pretty good. Across a few days I tried both the chicken and bolognese and found that both were enjoyable. Good flavors overall. All in all, good spot to visit if you're staying by the area.

We stopped in to grab a quick bite to eat before grabbing a show and really enjoyed a great burger. The Tavern burger was a rather large burger ( not complaining), served with sweet potato fries. My girlfriend had the black and bleu burger. They were cooked perfectly and were very good. We were anxious to get in and out in I order to get to our show and they were able to take care of us. Just across the street from TD Garden - prepare for a lively atmosphere and wait on game nights. Bar seating is first come, first served. We stopped in around 4pm ahead of a 7pm game and were able to grab a bar spot while we waiting. For tables, they'll take your cell number and text when the table is ready. The bar staff was helpful and attentive. Lots of taps and they have plenty of varieties available for all beer tastes. The cocktail menu is also extensive. We got a table pretty soon after ordering drinks and service was great here as well. Our server had some great recommendations for this pescatarian. The quinoa bowl was a good portion and great flavor combinations. I absolutely love roasted beets so this was a favorite meal on our trip. Hubby had the Goddess Garden Burger - primarily sweet potato. He also liked the flavor, but it was lacking some texture and the burger fell apart easily - it would benefit from quinoa in the patty or some extra crunchy toppings. Overall, the food and service made this a good experience. I would certainly return to try out other menu options!

My wife and I have been here a handful of times back in 2021 when staying close by, but finally revisited it. We were staying in a nearby hotel and visited after the concert at the Garden finished. Which I assume they get a large crowd after show/game just due to being open late and location wise. We anticipated many having the idea we did so tried getting there quickly. Unfortunately, when we got there some medical emergency was occurring with a patron so we formed a line until that was dealt with. Staff were friendly about this reassuring it would be solved quickly so kudos to them for handling this with a large volume of people showing up. Once inside the bar was first come first served so we snagged two seats at the bar. Handed drink menus and their late night food menu which did have a good variety despite its small size. They had a lot of bartenders to deal with the late night crowd and they seemed friendly but I sensed a little annoyance likely dealing with many already intoxicated people. Drink wise with fall around the corner I grabbed the pumpkin espresso martini and my wife grabbed their non-alcoholic watermelon margarita. The pumpkin espresso martini was good with just enough flavor to make it feel different than a typical one but enough of a classic espresso martini that makes it a crowd favorite. My wife's drink was decent but she would pick something else next time. We have certainly had much better mocktails before, but appreciate that they some NA options. Even as people who drink we like to have mocktails just as much. Food wise we settled on their nachos and added chicken for an extra $4. Size wise it was a good portion for splitting and was a good late night meal for us. I do wish they layered the toppings a little bit more as quite a few chips had nothing. The chips were salted just right though and overall taste was pretty good especially as a late night option. Overall a good after concert meal with decent drinks. It has sports bar vibes and I can only speak for late night for this review but worth stopping in for drinks and food after a game or show at TD Garden. Just don't expect to be the only one with this plan due to location.

    Pineapple Crush

Tavern In The Square is centrally located in downtown Boston. The Boston Celtics Stadium is across the street. Let's just say it's in the right spot. Let's jump right into this review. What did I have? 1. Pineapple Crush - $6.00 - pineapple puree, lime, soda - Quite delicious! It wasn't what I expected but it was refreshing. Refills are not free. 2. BBQ Chicken Pizza -$16 - [gf] bbq sauce, sharp provolone, fire roasted corn, bacon, caramelized onions [gluten free cauliflower crust available +$2] (sub plant-based cheese +$1) - Taste was ok. Not bad. Not great. Just ok. Something was missing. What that something is/was - I dunno. Pros 1. Great location. I stayed at the Marriott across the street. Tavern was a 2 minute walk from door step to door step. 2. Service was good - no complaints. 3. Clean environment. 4. Indoor and outdoor seating. Cons 1. Given prices I expected my food to taste better. 2. Menu is limited. Suggestions 1. Consider a reservation. 2. Keep parking in mind. First time in Boston and the first restaurant I tried. Wasn't a bad experience but I'm giving three stars due to overall taste of the food. I was able to try many restaurants while in Boston and there are spots serving up delicious bites. For convenience in the area, Tavern In The Square isn't a bad option. Maybe I just stopped in on an off day. If I'm back in Boston, I would give this place a second try.

Absolute legend. Watching her work was like witnessing a headliner performance before the headliner. She wasn't bartending--she was conducting a symphony of pure mayhem. Drinks flying out of her hands like fireworks, orders remembered with supernatural precision, cracking jokes, keeping the energy electric--it was like if a ringmaster, a magician, and a quarterback all fused into one person behind the bar.
