Visited Pheonix Landing on a Saturday evening around 6pm and our group of 5 found a booth in a quiet corner to sit together. I'm glad we found it when we did because it kept getting busier as the night went on and by 9pm it was very loud inside and standing room only!! We were waited on by two servers throughout the night and they were both friendly, they didn't really say much - they are there to do their jobs! Each beer was around $8-10, standard for Boston. We also had the Margherita ($20) and prosciutto pizzas ($22) and the bar nachos with chicken ($16+$4) to share. The food here is better than what you'd expect from a local sports bar. We've gotten the steak, chicken quesadilla, pizza Margherita, salad - and they've all been pretty good. This is the place for sports viewing- during major sports events all 10 screens will be tuned to the same game so you can watch from any part of the dining area. Great spot to grab a drink and dance the night away! This divey looking bar opens its floors up, and brings out the DJ for a fun night of dancing. It got very packed on a Friday night with mostly a young crowd. The drinks were okay, there are some TV's at the bar. I believe you can dine here since there were tables around, but not sure of the food menu. There was a cover to get in. I believe this is standard cover on the weekends. Came here on a Wednesday evening for trivia and overall, my group and I were pretty disappointed by the experience which is sad to say. We probably won't be coming back either in the end. The event starts at 7pm every Wednesday, but I highly suggest going early to grab a table. Someone in our party was there starting at 6:20 and we were lucky to be by the stage, but that's where our luck kind of stops. The hosts did their best to speak over the crowd, but despite being asked to be louder and louder, the microphone system was faulty and the rest of the people in the room just kept getting louder to speak over them anyway. It made the experience impossible as we couldn't hear the hosts despite being near the stage so I can only imagine how bad it must've been for folks in the back. The questions themselves weren't bad and the format was interesting enough, it's just that the entire process was way too long ( we left early at around 9:30, implying that the entire trivia night probably takes closer to 2.5 - 3 hours ) and the rest of the people there really didn't seem to care that no one could hear the hosts. The food was also subpar - the nachos were pretty tasteless and one of my group mates had a mediocre burger with cold buns. It made sense for the food not to be great though as everyone arrives at once and the kitchen probably isn't prepared to handle a huge wave like that no matter how much they prep. In the end, definitely a lackluster experience. Kudos to the hosts and the staff working as they did their best to accommodate the huge crowd, it's just that overall, the various factors of the rest of the clientele and various circumstances led to an inadequate experience. read more

Came here with friends to watch the Argentina vs Colombia game and we were seated outside in the patio. We got some food and beers while we waited for the game to start. All in all we had about a $200+ bill by the time the game started. We were seated to the side of the TV so it was a bit hard to see the game so we stood up and went right behind our friend group on the sidewalk so we could catch a better view while the first half happened. During halftime we went up to the bouncer and politely asked if we could use the bathroom, he said that no one is allowed inside anymore because they're at capacity, (the server later told us that when they count capacity they include both the inside and outside guests) we explained that we were sitting in the patio with our friends and we had a tab open with them. (We had already been counted for capacity purposes in this case) Other people were also coming out of the establishment at this time so we asked him if that could be an exception since people left the inside of the bar. All we wanted to do was go in, use the bathroom and go back out. He refused and just told us no, you can't come in period. By the way we saw multiple people that he allowed to go in and use the bathroom after this. It seemed like he was picking and choosing who to let in. I'm not gonna call racism on any of this because, that word gets thrown around loosely some of these days but he definitely had it against our group for some reason. Ok no problem we just went back to our friend group and were chatting with them for a bit, complaining a little bit that we couldn't use the bathroom, as anyone would normally do. At no time were we disrespectful or insulting the guy. The halftime was pretty long since they had a halftime show so me and one of my friends got hungry and we saw our server near the entrance of the patio, so we walked over there and stood in the little entrance area, patiently waiting for our server to finish speaking with an older patron so we could ask him if we could order some food to our table. (They had our card on a tab and remember at this point we already had a $200 plus bill racked up) After about 30 seconds of waiting, to our surprise, the 5' 2'' bouncer immediately gets up from his seat and starts pushing one of my friends out and yelling at us and telling us "Get the fuck out of here! I told you we're at capacity! " We were like "dude calm down, we're just trying to speak to our server", he continues "I said get the fuck out of here!" "Get out!" By the way we were on the sidewalk already from the first time he said "get the fuck out" as that was so embarrassing and we weren't trying to cause a scene. So I tell him, "I'm on the sidewalk, we're just trying to speak to our server; wtf is your problem" "what's your problem?" At this point my friend whose card they had on file told me to go back so I did as like I said, we weren't trying to cause a scene. He tried to reason with the bouncer and the bouncer started telling him to fuck off and to leave as well, he didn't believe we were actual customers at all. My friend told him" I can't leave, I have a bill to pay" only when we got our server to intervene and actually tell the guy that we were actual customers did the bouncer finally back off. The only reason we didn't leave and go somewhere else after all of this was because my friend's wife has a disability and has to walk around with crutches and we went there specifically so she could have a seat to watch the game and wouldn't have to stand. There are ways to do things and the bouncer immediately escalated the situation by going and pushing my friend out and yelling at us at the top of his lungs. He refused to believe we were customers when we had s $200+ bill racked up already. In case this guy tries to claim we were intoxicated, my friends who were sitting down were the ones who drank more but as well they were not intoxicated in any way shape or form. We came here for geeks who drink trivia, which is rarely found in Boston, and that was really fun. Trivia starts at 7 but its gets very busy very fast so I wold recommend getting there at 6pm, which is when we did. My boyfriend and I shared the mozzarella sticks which were just okay, probably frozen. I got the grilled chicken sandwich which was fine, nothing special. The service was really slow and they didn't even bring us cutlery or napkins with our food until we asked. They also made some errors in our bill at the end. Halfway into my first drink of the night, a creepy guy comes up to flirt and when I turn him down gets outright threatening and aggressive. He says things like he'll wait outside for me and since I'm rude enough to say no he'll make me (Yelp would censor any more). I have thick skin but he terrified me. I told the only female bartender who said he'd be gone and got a bouncer. The bouncer hovered around like a shy 13 yr old boy at a dance rather than just going up to him. I only had one more drink that night because he was at the bar and stayed so I wanted to go, and yet threw up all night and had a massive "hangover " which if you're a woman who has ever been roofied knows what that means. 2 drinks doesn't do that to you. Came here for Wednesday night trivia for the first and last time. Thankfully someone in my party of five arrived around 6:20pm to snag a table because it was packed. There's also seating outside for those who want to participate. The bar also seemed to always have folks who came solely for drinks. The trivia questions spanned a variety of topics and levels of difficulty, where only one or two of us in the group knew the answer. They also had creative formats, although apparently a portion of questions that were presented in GIF form didn't load for some groups. What we struggled with however was just how loud the place gets. It was difficult to hear the hosts (and each other) even though we were seated right by the front, as tables around us were screaming and cackling all night long. We could text the hosts questions and concerns, including to turn the volume up, but then other people would ask to turn the volume back down. We also didn't anticipate how long it'd be, with it lasting around 2.5 hours. The hosts were also trying their best trying to navigate technical difficulties with the mic cutting out in the middle of sentences. As for food and drinks, I got a can of Downeast Cider and Hoisin BBQ Chicken Fingers. Nothing special, but that's as can be expected at a generic sports bar. Since an influx of people come in for 7pm trivia, definitely expect a wait for your food. Overall, it's a fun place to do trivia, but if your hearing isn't great and you don't enjoy asking people to repeat themselves a billion times in a night, I'd pass. read more
