Second time ever going to a bad last night and had a fantastic time. Bartenders were extremely friendly, got to meet a couple of the regulars who were also a great time. Ordered a buffalo chicken flatbread and it tasted great. They had Knicks vs Spurs playing, and I'm sad we ended up leaving before the 4th quarter, but I can only imagine how it would've felt to be there while that comeback happened. Beware of the staff changing the tip amounts on your receipt. The charges show up higher on my credit card bill than what I signed on the receipt. I tipped 20% and I assume they made turned a '4' into a '6' to make it 30%. read more

I didn't see the free popcorn, but I did get their free wifi as I sat here for about an hour with a beer and my laptop, doing some "work" for a bit. It's a cute tavern-style place with a list of taps, a lot of spirits and some pub grub that I saw others enjoying. There are also a few TV's tuned into sports channels. Celebrated a friend's birthday here and it was great! They do run all IDs through a scanner so it took a bit time for us to all get inside, since we were a big group of 13. After we got inside, the decor was really cute and there was pretty nice lighting that was not too dark. The music was also on point--some light rock and pop that was not too loud. We could talk at a normal volume and not have to yell over the sound. Since it was a Tuesday night, they had a $10 beer of the week + burger special. This was such a good deal!! The beer of the week was a PBR. The food came very quick and the burger came with fries. My friends and I all thought it was delicious, and very good for late night eats. What was even more awesome was that they did individual checks for all 13 of us! This saved us so much time and we did not have to figure out how to split the costs afterwards. Best service at a bar that I've seen in a while. I will definitely come back here with friends again! read more

There are so many great things to say about this place. I chose it to celebrate an important milestone in my life and I am glad I did.   I decided to do trivia night so I went on the Stump website to check availability for the weekend. It was the only place that did it on Sat. Itlo was an area I was familiar with and had great reviews so I took the chance.   Upon arrival I thought parking would be an issue which it wasn't for anyone in my party of 15. The bar tender Eugene was the absolute best. Very accommodating and social. He was def an amazing addition to the night.   The drinks were good, decently portioned. My cousin wanted a sangria which they did not serve...but that did not stop Eugene from making one. The food was good. Wings def worth getting. They have an appetizers platter that had huge onion rings and good apps. It was $13 but well worth it. Best bar in Mission Hill, period. The appetizer platter is one of best food offerings in Boston, not to be missed. Great staff including bartenders Scotty, Eugene and Smitty. Very strong beer list ex. This neighborhood pub has promise. We popped in for a quick drink at happy hour, and were happy to see a cozy space, friendly bartender, solid beer list, and my favorite thing to see in a bar: free popcorn. A nice little bar by Brigham Circle with indoor and outdoor seating! The back outdoor area has a completely different vibe than the front. Nice, woody simple decor with some quirky antique looking things here and there. No pretty city skylines to see, as it's surrounded by tall light wooden fences, but it does have a nice city backyard charm with cute string lights hanging across the tops! This place is such a hidden gem! I go to school across the street and I'm surprised more people don't come here. There's always plenty of seating, which is great for big groups, and fairly quiet, which is great for having conversations and being able to hear the person next to you. There is a wide selection of affordable beer and free popcorn! If you're around Brigham Circle, I highly recommend grabbing a drink here. Very disappointed with this place. The other reviews did not disclose that the food has no flavor whatsoever. Would have been better eating literally anywhere else. I hated wasting my calories on that food for dinner. I ordered the boneless buffalo wings with fries and the boneless buffalo wings were chicken tenders that had no breading and were extremely overtone. Very tough to eat. There was very little buffalo sauce as well. The fries were soggy and seemed old. Not great. The only good thing is that they have beer- but they didn't mess up the beer because they didn't make it. read more

Wow wow wow! My quintessential neighborhood watering hole: friendly staff, delicious fried food, strong drinks. A smallish , dimmed and cozy tavern is what you'll find discreetly tucked onto Tremont street. For such a small place, the service and food is great, the music tends to be a good mix- plus they host Trivia nights on Saturdays, among other programming throughout the week. They have interesting, strong cocktails, a constantly rotating draft list, and they have recently upgraded their menu. Depending when you come in, the bar tender may give you a little popcorn! As the name suggests, Puddingstone has a tavern-like feel. It doesn't open before late afternoon to accommodate post-work drinks. The bartenders get to know virtually everyone who walks through the door, making you feel welcome, and contributing to the laid back feel. Puddingstone focuses on maintaining a great selection of beer on draught and classic cocktail list. The food menu is simple, but still offers something for everyone. On any given night, you can watch sports or major events on TV. Saturday nights they host trivia with a large, loyal crowd. We've spent the weekend in Boston for my best friends bachelor party. We ended at the Tavern, before hailing an Uber to return to our hotel. The guys went in, and I stayed outside to order the Uber. I remained sober throughout the night, because as the best man, I wanted to make sure I kept an eye on things and keep a clear head. Unfortunately by the time I had gone in, one of the party members (who hadn't had too many) had spilled his drink. The bartender (Lisa) then cut off the rest of the party. Since I had come in separate from then, and wasn't even in the bar for this incident, I attempted to order a drink. When she denied me, I asked her why, and she told me because my friend had spilled his drink, and we had all had to many. I then explained to her that I wasn't even with the party at that time, and for all she knew, I was just catching up with old friends. And that I also had not even drank all weekend. She then told me she knows I'm drunk because I'm arguing with her, and that the conversation was over. I told her I didn't even want a drink, I was just trying to understand why I couldn't even get a drink. So, I returned to my seat, only to be approached by the bouncer (Jose) who asked me to follow him to the bathroom. I obliged, and once in there he asked me what happened to the plastic toilet paper holder that was on the floor in the stall. I told him I didn't know, I had only used the urinal. He then told me that's funny, because he heard me banging around in there. And that we had to leave. I said okay, fine. But why exactly? And he gave me no answer, and by that point the rest of the party was outside getting in the Uber. Ultimately, I don't want to give any bias, I simply want to state the events as I saw them. I don't fault that employees for making their decisions that they saw best to serve and keep their atmosphere safe. I do however challenge their explanation, understating and consideration of the situation. I am currently riding back to our hotel while writing this review, which will honestly be my first negative review ever written. read more

To the new owners: congratulations you did a wonderful job of gutting and remodeling an ancient local dive bar and made it ever- so-tasteful just like the rest of mission hill. In doing so you have reserved yourself a space in the ninth circle of hell along with the "visionaries" who bulldozed Scollay Square and replaced it with ten million windswept bricks and the Stalin monument known as City Hall. The bartenders are great people who take pride in their craft. The food has always been great and affordable. The beer list is extensive and the drinks get the job done. The best part about this small neighborhood bar is the live Irish bands on Sunday afternoons. A Guinness and the music make you feel like you're in Dublin.
