The Puddingstone Tavern in Boston, MA

I didn't see the free popcorn, but I did get their free wifi as I sat here for about an hour with a beer and my laptop, doing some "work" for a bit. It's a cute tavern-style place with a list of taps, a lot of spirits and some pub grub that I saw others enjoying. There are also a few TV's tuned into sports channels. It's a nice local watering hole and that's a good thing. I'm a fan. [Review 9800 overall, 1378 for 2018.]

Lemon drop from heaven!!!

Celebrated a friend's birthday here and it was great! They do run all IDs through a scanner so it took a bit time for us to all get inside, since we were a big group of 13. After we got inside, the decor was really cute and there was pretty nice lighting that was not too dark. The music was also on point--some light rock and pop that was not too loud. We could talk at a normal volume and not have to yell over the sound. Since it was a Tuesday night, they had a $10 beer of the week + burger special. This was such a good deal!! The beer of the week was a PBR. The food came very quick and the burger came with fries. My friends and I all thought it was delicious, and very good for late night eats. What was even more awesome was that they did individual checks for all 13 of us! This saved us so much time and we did not have to figure out how to split the costs afterwards. Best service at a bar that I've seen in a while. I will definitely come back here with friends again!

A nice little bar by Brigham Circle with indoor and outdoor seating! The back outdoor area has a completely different vibe than the front. Nice, woody simple decor with some quirky antique looking things here and there. No pretty city skylines to see, as it's surrounded by tall light wooden fences, but it does have a nice city backyard charm with cute string lights hanging across the tops! Would come back to go sit out in the back again on a nice day.

What used to be the Crossing is now a fine establishment.

Do they ID at the door?

They didn't ID at the door when I walked in but we were carded when ordering drinks.

21st Amendment - Best Sliders and onion rings ever!

Been here for drinks quite a bit and always enjoyed it but!! Yall!! I got the sliders this last…read moretime. Let me tell you they've ruined sliders and maybe burgers in general for me forever. Tho I've never really liked full size burgers so always been a slider fan. Damn. Let me repeat, damn. Again, damn. Super simple but so so juicy and whatever sauce they are saucing on it? My mouth waters at the memory. They are decent sized and you get 4, plus a massive tower of also very good onion rings. The onion rings were good no complaints but after the sliders nothing was going to compare so I kind of forgot any opinions I had on them. Inside is cozy, staff are fun and great, reasonable prices and good vibes anytime I've gone in. And I'll be going in again soon bc damn. A few days later I was out with friends somewhere else and we got sliders and I was so disappointed now that I've known 21st's.

Place was not super busy and our server Izzy was on it...she seated us immediately and took our drink and food orders. We snacked on spinach dip which was pretty filling and ordered some cups of clam chowda! The chef put some southwestern flavor which I thought was fabulous, since we are from TX! We finished by ordering the plate of sliders and by far, the best pub sliders I have ever had! Everything we ate was amazing. Izzy was energetic and never let our glasses go empty! The building was historic and it felt like you walked back in time! We would go back in heart beat for sure!

It's homely, welcoming, and I feel included. Last went here during the Red Bull Heavy Metal event that was happening at City Hall. Place was packed. We had the best Irish coffees and were able to get a table despite the crowd. I love the attention to detail this place puts regarding its decorative wood around the bar, the lighting, life music, and more. Great place to have a drink. Yes, I think the food could improve a bit - maybe some nice club sandwiches or vary the food offerings, but overall love this place.

We kept trying to make eye contact, but it didn't work~eventually we had to wave someone down. Even then, the response from the bar felt like it was an inconvenience just to send our server over. That said, the food was mostly good. The bangers & mash and the burger were spot on. However, the "Taste of Ireland" pies were disappointing~2 in particular missed the mark. The shepherd's pie had no mince (just potatoes and peas), & the Guinness pie was more like a beef stew than a proper pie. Overall, some strong dishes, but the service and a few key items would make me hesitate to return.

I ordered the blackened chicken quesadilla and immediately understood why people write emotional support reviews on Yelp. Perfectly spicy, ridiculously cheesy, and so good I started eating faster in case someone at the table got "just a little taste" ideas. My wife got the fish & chips, which arrived looking like it belonged in a food commercial. Crispy, flaky fish, perfectly crunchy fries, and somehow not greasy at all -- basically the unicorn of fish & chips. My only regret is that we are in town for only a few days so we won't be able to return to 5 Horses Tavern until our next trip. If you leave hungry, that's on you.

The server was very knowledgeable and attentive. The tacos were pretty good, but if you're a taco maven, don't get them. To be honest, the fish taco had too much Mayo/sauce on it. They each came with two corn tortillas, which were a little stuck together as if microwaved. It was definitely my mistake because they are definitely not a Mexican restaurant. I would be interested in their salmon dish, as well as their bowls. Four stars for good options (gf included), good portion size, and good vibes. Will definitely be returning to try more!
