This place has a great vibe. We went during October so the Halloween decorations were up and it was very fun. We ordered the Fish and Chips and while the service was impeccable, the food was just alright. If you're traveling to Boston, I'd suggest going elsewhere for some classic fish and chips but I would recommend coming here for drinks and a vibe!
A quirky and tiny pub/bar in Inman Square with lots of character everywhere you look. We unfortunately missed the kitchen as by the time we got there at 10:30pm, they had stopped serving food (on a Tuesday). But we grabbed a drink and enjoyed conversation. They had a lot of local brews and my cider was local too from MA--it was really good and refreshing. It was busy for a weeknight, so I think this is a good spot for locals! We will definitely come back for food another night as we wanted to try their fish and chip.
Came here on a Monday night and there was a great atmosphere! Got the grilled chicken BLT. Thought it would come as a club as a club sandwich style but it was on a brioche bun. Chicken was lovely and the right amount of mayo! Side salad was a bit sad, could have done with less lettuce and more tomatoe and cucumber. Band came in and started playing, and we weren't rushed to leave when we finished seating which was nice! Great spot!
Long skinny Irish pub - tasty seafood stew and Guinness constantly flowing being hammered into form. Quick enough service given how jammed it is all day on weekends.
Found this place on the best of Boston website. The Druid lives up to the promise. Cool atmosphere, boisterous Irish Pub. Interesting decor.Live music is nice. Fish and Chips are huge insanely delicious!! Park in the back.
I came here in a large group for dinner and drinks on a Sunday evening. The tables are seated first-come first-served and thankfully one of the window booths was open for us to get seated immediately. I got to try the fish chowder ($16), druid chips ($9), and shepherd's pie ($20). I was a huge fan of the fish chowder! It was creamy but not overwhelmingly heavy, and the clams they used were big and fresh. The pieces of cod and salmon were small but still noticeable. If you are not feeling too hungry, this is a good dish since the portion is pretty solid as a meal on its own. The druid chips were tasty. I liked how the fries were very crispy and seasoned perfectly. Our table was a bit divided on the curry because it had a strong tomato flavor and also happened to be quite sweet. I would recommend getting the curry to try it, but you can also get the fries by themselves for $7 if you don't want the curry. I have both great things and not-so-great things to say about the shepherd's pie. First, the lamb was tender with the perfect amount of fattiness. The pie had a decent portion of lamb which made the dish worth it for its price. However, the mashed potatoes had a grainy texture to them that suggested that the potatoes were previously frozen (either the mashed potatoes were thawed from a frozen batch, or frozen potatoes were used to make them). This ruined the dish a little for me because the potatoes were such a prominent part of the dish. The flavor of the mashed potatoes was great, but unfortunately I could not ignore the texture! I was a little worried that the live music would be too loud for conversation but my table heard each other fine. They were extremely busy that night so the servers didn't check on our table very much. We did not mind this, but if you would like more service then I would recommend going on a weekday or less busy time.
Stopped by here on a Saturday night on a complete whim - was visiting Cambridge for an event in Boston. Looked up "good chowder near me", type thing, with no real idea what'd pop up. Short version: This place rocks, food's great, can't wait to come back! Longer version: Google told me that one of the best Irish pubs in the area was a 7-minute walk from my tiny Airbnb. So I headed over hoping to snag a spot at the bar. Figured I was being clever by going there on the early side, around 6 - 6:30 pm... ...but since this is clearly a popular spot, especially on a weekend, the place was already jam-packed with cheerful customers by the time I arrived. Not a single seat free in the house. But that's always a good sign to be honest, beats the heck out of stepping into an empty bar with 1-2 other customers max. Even better, they had (good) live music playing from a band sitting around a table in a corner, a bartender working fast to pour about a dozen Guinness's for sitting and standing customers, and I only had to wait about 10 minutes until a seat opened up at the bar. Got served promptly and given a quick look at their specials; had a cider, a solid Guinness, and ordered their Fish Chowder (Clam + Salmon). Food came out at just the right time - not so fast that I felt rushed, not so slow that I'd gone through more than a single drink first. I'm not some foodie or Chowder connoisseur, but dang if this wasn't the tastiest Chowder I've ever had so far. Filling too, big healthy portions here - and coupled with a good beer and good music, I could not have asked for better. I even struck up a conversation with 3 guys at the bar next to me while I chowed down. From one of the most introverted dudes on the East coast, that means a lot - this is a spot where it's genuinely hard not to feel comfortable in. There's plenty more on the menu worth trying out, I'm kinda bummed I live about 4-5 hours away. Next time I'm in town I'll be coming here no matter how far out it is from wherever I'm staying.
Love this spot!! Crowded and fun environment, exactly what you'd want from an Irish Pub. Got a classic Guinness and an espresso martini which had Kahlua and was very sweet, exactly how I like it! The food was great, fish and chips were delish and served in newspaper, which was fun! Side note, make sure to get the curry to dip your fries in. We also got the burger and also really enjoyed that!
There were a few Irish pubs we were choosing between when visiting the Boston area. We landed on this one because it had great reviews for food, lots of live music options and most importantly it was family friendly. We were traveling with our two daughters 11 & 12. It was a small and lively restaurant in a cute Cambridge neighborhood. Our waiter and the bartender were the only two tending to the patrons. They both did a great job and for how busy it was they were very attentive. Our food was delicious!! My husband and oldest daughter got the fish & chips which was delicious, but omg the rosemary fries that came along were so good! I got the Shepard pie and my younger daughter got a cheeseburger lol. My Shepards pie was so good it was like a cross between Irish stew and Shepard pie but had great flavor. It was hearty, savory and the mash potatoes on top were a light with chives and complimented the stew underneath. We were disappointed we missed the live music on Sunday which is at 12. We were there for dinner around 8pm. However, we were in for such a treat! This adorable newly wed couple came into celebrate at the bar shortly after we sat down. Them and their musician friends played Irish music, while we were there. The fact that it was totally spontaneous made it even better. It made for a fun unexpected party in a cute crowded Irish bar. It was everything I wanted in an Irish bar.
Seeing as I was in a Boston for a mini-getaway, I made it a mission to check out an Irish pub. I'm so glad I was able to find the Druid! I made my way over from Allston, which took me through Harvard on the way to Inman Square (where the Druid is located). It was a great trip and made me even more excited. The Druid's vibes were impeccable! The Halloween decorations they had hung up were totally awesome, especially the giant ghost hung overhead. I sat down at the bar and was able to quickly put in an order for fish + chips and Guinness. The Guinness was super smooth and delicious - definitely one of the best I've had from a tavern in the US. The bartender was also super friendly, and it was cute to see him catching up with locals in between orders. This fish and chips were also excellent. The breading on the fish was a lot lighter than I'm used to - a welcome change for a typically heavy dish. I also appreciated that the fish and chips were wrapped in newspaper, just like back in the day across the pond! You really can't go wrong with the Druid. Though it's a bit small, the vibe is perfect. Their draft list is amazing, with a great selection of both local and imported beers. Check it out! read more

I absolutely LOVE a good eggs benedict. It's truly my favorite way to eat eggs, but it's not the easiest dish to make. Trust me on this one. I've made many in my day. Went to the Druid, a pub in Cambridge, for brunch and had the BEST Benny of my life! It's was so good I could have licked the plate clean. But didn't because I shouldn't ever embarrass my dinning partner. I highly recommend it! The pub also has beautiful live Irish music player by the local musicians. If you enjoy this kind of warm and welcoming environment you'll enjoy more than their incredible cuisine. Oh, and the staff are good eggs too. Sorry,...I had to stick at least one silly dad joke in. #foodie #cambridge #irishcuisine read more
Honestly one of my favorite bars in the area! They've really stepped up their game all throughout the pandemic and they keep changing and improving their precautionary measures. They put in big barriers between the tables or safety and distance. I've only been a few times for a meal and not drinks and today was one of those days. We ordered the veggie burgers and they were better than we could have remembered them to be. I'm always on a mission for a delicious veggie burger. We think that the veggie burger recently got a whole lot better it was delicious! Also can't forget - The staff is always so polite and kind and all around a great cheery group! read more

Wow I'm genuinely shook. Atmosphere: it's pub vibes. Dim lighting, small place, few tables, bar seating. Decor is so interesting and fits the vibe. Attire: no strict attire Food: wow the food was so good. We got a half dozen oysters, so fresh so sweet. We also got a full rack of ribs and wow. We eat a lot of ribs and man this was so well cooked and it wasn't the tiniest bit dry. The barbecue sauce was the right amount of sweet and tangy. Even the cole slaw side was delicious and I do not usually like cole slaw. All in all the food was amazing and of course the beer was just right Location: right in the middle of Cambridge I'd say. Easy to access via bus Price: very up to par with what you get. Not too pricey at all Parking: street parking. Limited time. Overall: definitely will be back. Definitely worth the visit and try. read more

Man, places like this are a rare breed and Boston is lucky to have them. The atmosphere is cozy, dad friendly, pub vibes. You could go alone and have a pleasant time. The staff are so caring and kind, I always have a great experience here even at it's busiest. I recommend the fish and chips, yes it's a big portion but you get a whole lot of good fish and fries. The tartar sauce is great too! I split this with a friend and there were still some fries left over. I've had it before as a single person and finish the fish but not be able to make a good dent in the fries. If you're looking to share, this would leave you satisfied. After we had our beer and entre, we walked down the street and stopped for ice cream! Lovely night. read more

Went here on a Saturday for the dollar oysters. It wasn't packed and there was only one waiter/bartender working. The dollar oysters were pretty good and sweet. I was not disappointed. The fish and chips and the fish chowder were okay in my opinion but the atmosphere makes up for it. It is a better place for drinks and oyster than food. I would come again for the dollar oysters and their draft beer. read more

We came here on a rainy weeknight because my partner loves a good Irish pub. The Druid is exceptional and just so cozy and bustling. Beautifully poured pint of Guinness, a lovely glass of sangria. My partner still raves about the rich and hearty beef stew and I think their version of fish and chips - light, flaky, generous, and with the batter nicely holding - might be my favorite so far in the area. Attentive service from a blonde server with close-cropped hair that I did not get the name of but was great. Will return for a live music night sometime! read more
Looking for a great Irish Pub in Boston? The Druid is your place. It's cozy and inviting. The Irish waiters are very friendly and helpful, and not so bad to look at. Always willing to strike up a conversation with you to make you feel at home. The menu, surprisingly enough, for a pub is delish and feel home cooked. The Irish stew gave me all the feels of home on a cold Fall night. The fish and chips wrap in a newspaper was like opening a yummy present. On a good night, they do have live music, which is bonus and add great ambience. Visit The Druid for a little taste of Ireland. read more

Came here after googling best fish sandwich in Boston after a Sunday afternoon playoffs game and it was a cute little spot. There was a decent amount of people in there. Nice little vibe. We had Casamigos and pineapple and our bartender was cool and was juggling the large crowd well. We also had fish sandwiches which come with fries. Our sandwich was a little soggy from the tarter sauce so I would just get it on the side next time and our fries were decent and would def be amazing cooked in fresher grease. I'm glad we stopped by. read more

Cozy, timeless, and well kept pub. Definitely the best regular Irish session music in Somerville/Cambridge. The calmer older cousin of The Burren from Donegal. Pro tip: get the Shepherds Pie, but move it to a separate plate in one swift motion w a fork (I promise it holds together). Cools down a bit so you can eat it w/o burnin yourself. My father would tell you to mix it up so every bite is equal stew/potato ratio but it looks like baby food. read more

It is St Patrick's Day, the day of a year to be in an Irish pub and the Druid is a classic. I stayed in the out door tent and the tables were three quarters occupied. I had the Guinness and the Shepherd's Pie. More than one person told me that the Druid has the best Guinness in the city, and I would agree although I haven't figured out the reason for it - the wait staff today told me that he doesn't drink. The Shepherd's Pie was excellent. I would recommend it. read more

When planning for a recent trip to Boston, I made sure to include lunch or dinner at an Irish Pub. I selected this place based on a recommendation from Boston Magazine, their rating on Yelp, and its proximity to our hotel in Cambridge. My wife and I were not disappointed! We arrived for lunch and were immediately invited to sit at the bar with some local regulars. The World Cup was playing on the bar TV and we were immediately engaged in their warm and good-natured bantering. For lunch, I ordered the sheperd's pie and my wife the fish and chips. Both dishes were freshly prepared, visually appealing, and as delicious as we've ever had. A pint or two of perfect temperature Smitwick's Irish Red to wash it down and we were very satisfied! If you're looking for an Irish Pub in Boston, I suggest you choose The Druid. You'll be happy you did! read more
4.5! After learning about the place, I have been eager to try the Druid! I especially wanted to their pour of Guinness and their famous fish and chips. But... I ended up not getting the two items that I wanted to try. I ended up getting the fish sandwich, which I thought to be the exact same thing as their fish and chips entree but smaller portions in a sandwich form. I also didn't think that Guinness would pair well with fried food so I opted for a pint of Allagash White, one of my favorites! One thing I loved was that the beer was filled to the brim!! and for 8 bucks a pint for an allagash, I thought the price point was more than fair. My friends got the Guinness and it honestly looked like a perfect pour with the right amount of head. In terms of food, the portion of the fish sandwich was perfect! It looked like a half portion of the entree. The bread was nothing special so I ended up not eating them. I also ordered their signature curry sauce for extra $2. It tasted really good with the fries but I think 2 dollars is a little bit overpriced. I could tell that the fish was extremely fresh and it was super meaty. The batter wasn't greasy nor too thick! I was slightly disappointed with the fries because they weren't as crispy as I had hoped. They were definitely on the soggier side. I did have few pieces that were super crispy and I LOVED those. Both the fish and fries were well-seasoned. The flavor and quality are there but I wish the fries were more crispy. read more

The Druid is pretty much the closest thing to an Irish bar that's actually in Ireland. I walked in to find a charming, busy bar with live Irish music, walls lined with retro posters, and beautiful decor hanging from the ceiling. It felt very cozy! The drink menu features a decent range of beers (including imports), house cocktails, and SEVERAL Irish coffees. The food menu includes Irish staples such as fish & chips, seafood chowder etc. I went with the chowder which was flavorful and packed with seafood. Our waiter was pretty attentive. Definitely the place to go for an authentic Irish experience! Or a couple beers with friends. read more

Came for the $1 weekday lunch oysters - the oysters are fresh, clean, and pretty small but for $1 it definitely hits the spot. Fries are really good, but the calamari was a bit too underfried and squishy for me. The marinara sauce for it was also a bit watery and bland. Burger was decent read more

Great Irish bar in Inman square. Good selection of Irish whiskey and beer on tap - but primarily known for Guiness. This place is also pretty popular for the food, just be prepared for extra large portions! Ordered the fish and chips which was fresh and delicious and definitely large enough for 2 people. Place is small and quite popular so tends to get pretty packed. Attentive bar staff. read more
