When you read that the success or failure of your puppy is solely on you as an owner, believe us, it's absolutely true! When we first adopted Waffles (13 weeks old at the time), we were stressed out of our minds being first time dog owners. We wanted to do right by our puppy, but had no idea how to do it. We researched what we could but it all seemed so overwhelming. Then we found Marie. It would be an understatement to say she was a godsend. We have now completed our basic puppy training and with Marie's training, guidance, and sage advice, we feel like we are on the right path towards becoming the dog parents our Waffles needs and deserves. Marie is an absolute master! Be warned, your dog will love her at first sight and you will be jealous, though you can clearly see why. Her spirit, energy, command, and genuine care for your dog makes you strive to be at her level one day because you want your dog to give you the same lovey look! Thank you Marie! We look forward to the next level of training once we gain mastery of what we have been taught. We hope to make you proud. Waffles couldn't have been more fortunate that we found you. We promise, if you are looking for a dog trainer extraordinaire, Marie is your choice! read more

I was referred to Marie by my boyfriend - she helped him train his dog (Shepherd Chow mix) a couple of years ago. His dog is amazing - super sweet, friendly, and very obedient. When I got my new pup (Maltese Poodle "Maltipoo"), I had to meet this trainer because I want my dog to be as wonderful as my boyfriend's! Before I had my first session with Marie, my bf taught me Marie's method of training. I was able to teach her some basic commands before our first session, exemplifying that Marie's method really does work. Training: Marie keeps things simple - all you need is yourself, your dog, treats, and some dedicated training time! I really like her approach to training: it's all about positive reinforcement, being consistent (training the same way every day), and being your dog's pack leader. Marie teaches YOU to be the trainer of your dog - YOU are the dog's master. Don't expect Marie to do all the work. She is teaching you to be your dog's lifelong trainer. Paying for 3-4 sessions for a lifetime of dog training?! Priceless. The DogMaster: I appreciate Marie so much for what she does for her clients and their dogs. She doesn't try to sell you unnecessary training sessions or advertise any unnecessary products. She is straightforward, friendly, and a genuine dog-lover. She wants you and your dog to succeed and will help you in any way that she can. She is very professional and organized - I like that she sits down with you at the beginning of every session and goes over what you did the previous week and what needs to be done that day. She gives handouts with instructions that are very helpful. Marie is so sweet - she gave my pup a toy on our last day which my pup loves! My pup loves her too - she got sad and whimpered every time Marie left. My pup and me: At 6.5 months old, my Maltipoo has learned numerous commands: sit, down, come, wait, stay, shake, heel, on/off, and more. I feel confident that I can add to the list of commands with the method that Marie taught me. It's clearly effective, and I have seen it work with my pup and my boyfriend's. I am planning to get my dog certified to be a therapy dog in the future, and I will definitely reach out to Marie for help with that. Bottom line: I highly recommend Marie to be your personal dog trainer. She will undoubtedly have a positive impact on you and your dog's life! It's great to know that if I ever need more help with my pup, I can call her and set up another session! Thank you Marie!! read more

We found Marie on Yelp for our 2 yr old White German Shepherd, Abbey. She was wonderful with Abbey and brought our once shy, nervous pup into a more confident, happy dog. Abbey can walk with a loose leash, give her right or left paw depending on which you ask her, and her other tricks have been fine-tuned as well thanks to Marie's help. We're fortunate to have found Marie and happy that she was flexible in her schedule to coincide with ours. read more

It's been about a month since my dog, Max, has completed his training with Marie. He still remembers every command and hand signal, and he is doing well! Marie is a great trainer, and she really helped us understand how to handle certain situations (ex. whenever Max barks at people). She also taught us how to walk Max properly, and he behaves well on walks and is very good at walking by my side now. Marie is also very patient, and is always willing to help and listen if you have any problems with your dog or their training. She's the best!! read more

I cannot thank Marie enough for helping me with Noodle. The changes I saw with Noodle in her social behavior (let alone following basic commands) were astronomical. Anyone who has interacted closely with Noodle says the same. The biggest change was my way of interacting with my dog. Initially, I had no idea what the heck I was doing; I just went out and got a dog at the shelter thinking that things would sort themselves out eventually. Well, let me say right now: they don't, unless you really do something about it. Or in my case, I had to admit that I needed help. (And also taking my dog out to places with lots of people and other dogs every weekend - highly recommend this to help build confidence in nervous dogs) Through Marie, I learned how to be a stronger Alpha for my dog. Marie has so much insight and was there to answer all my questions and concerns (particularly with Noodle's behavior issues). Believe me, I read a hundred articles and forums, and having Marie to be my guide was far more effective (and efficient with time, really). The more effort you put in, the more you get back. Practicing commands with Noodle daily helped us to bond and for her to trust in me. This is something you don't figure out until the 4th session with Marie is over, and you can't believe how much things have changed. Marie is amazing! read more

Awesome! Compassionate! Caring! Patient! Genuine! Gentle! Knowledgeable! Affordable! These are just some of the words I can think of to describe MARIE BYMASTER, the DogMaster. You can really feel her love for dogs just as soon as she meets yours! We recently got our new puppy, Logan, the cutest Siberian husky ever! He was only 6 weeks old and we wanted to start training early. So, of course, we were willing to invest the efforts and time with a dog trainer, preferably, a private one. The reviews on yelp led me to her and I'm so thankful for that. Marie was so nice when I first called her and she was available by phone if I had any questions before we even confirmed a training day. She was, also, flexible and accommodating to our busy schedules. The amount of training days depends upon you and what Marie recommends. We went with the basic obedience sessions, which were private in our own home! Loved that! She even gives a handout for each session to practice every day. After we completed it, Logan even got a certificate of completion for the Basic Puppy Obedience Course! It was so cute!!! :D Logan is doing so good that we're even thinking of going further with the advance obedience class. It's really worth it, but you have to make sure you put effort and time into training every day to make it much more effective. The more you put into it, the more you'll get out. ;) read more

Marie is a wonderful trainer and great to work with. We have a 2.5 year old terrier that needed help just as much as my wife and I did. Right off the bat, Marie came in and was able to get our dog Abby to follow commands and actually obey them. We've had Abby for about 2 years now and as loving as she is, she can get aggressive towards dogs/people and is stubborn. With Marie, we had 4 sessions which included behavioral training and commands. Abby picked up on them fairly quickly and after the first session, was happy to see Marie in our home the following weeks. Marie is patient and wants to see the family succeed. Even though we still have a ways to go with locking in Abby's training, she's improved by a landslide after just the first week. I would highly recommend Marie whether your dog is young or old. read more

Marie was excellent with our 10 month old Staffordshire terrier! She came to our house after we came home from work and our last session she met us at the dog park. She answered all of our questions and helped us though any training task we had trouble with. She's extremely knowledgable and an enjoyable person to be with. Marie trained us on how to train our dog. She helped us with sit, down, stay, drop it, leave it, jumping, coming, mouthing, walking on the leash, and focus to name a few. When we finished our basic obedience course we even got a cute certificate, picture and Ellie got a toy. THANK YOU MARIE!! read more

Marie is a wonderful lady and incredible trainer who will come to your house to train you and your dog. Give her a call if you need any help with training your dog. Seriously, she didn't get all these stellar reviews for nothing! Her prices are very fair, she is easy to reach on her cellphone and is very flexible in regards to scheduling. And trust me, the first time you meet her, you'll know why she's The Dogmaster. In the basic obedience dog training I enrolled in for my shiba puppy of 3 months, Marie came over once a week for 1 hr training sessions four times. She structured her training sessions consistently with the handout she gave me at the end of each lesson. (Very helpful!) However, whenever issues/questions/suggestions are brought up, she is very accommodating and flexible. The first session consisted of a detailed "Dog 101" ground rules discussion + first obedience commands. It was a great conversation on dog psychology, purpose of training, Dos and Donts, and in my dog's case, potty/crate training. She is extremely knowledgeable, practical, and patient, and gave great advice that wasn't generalized like what I found online, but pertinent to the environment at my home with this puppy. Then, the obedience training began. Each week she introduced a 3-5 commands to Lobi, made sure he got it, then had me and my mother practice a couple of times. She would then make constructive comments on improving our approach, like the timing of treats or speaking more assertively. For homework after the session, we would work on the commands and chain them together during the week in 5 minute sessions throughout the day. At the next session with Marie, she reviews last week's commands, then moves on to the new set for this week. By the end of the four sessions, my smart little Lobi has learned 10+ commands and is absolutely SMITTEN with Marie. He ADORES HER, as do me and my mother! She also has a very useful Facebook page that she will update with a picture of your dog during the lesson plus a detailed summary on the lesson. Look through the pictures and read the comments to get a very clear picture on what you can expect during the sessions. https://www.facebook.com/mariebymaster A tip if you do enlist Marie to help you: FILM THE SESSIONS! I learned so much from watching Marie work her magic again and also, from seeing how I am interacting with my dog. It is also a great way for everyone involved in taking care of your dog to be on the same page with your dog's training and promote consistency in how to give commands and reward. read more

Highly recommended!! Marie is nice, patient, and knowledgeable , and most importantly, she loves dogs and dogs love her! I signed out for the basic obedience sessions for my two doggies, 1-year-old Shih Tzu mix and 2-year-old Poodle mix. During the first session, she spent time to know the dogs first and went through everything with my husband and I before we started the training methods which I love. my two dogs had a great transformation after just four sessions (once a week). Just like she always says, she trains dogs and people. I am now more confident training my dogs, and that helps a lot with my dogs listening to my commands. read more

I've never written a review before, but I felt compelled to do so because Marie is a godsend. She is caring, knowledgeable, and truly has a gift with the canines. Our 4-month old Baxter is a Toy Aussie Shepherd and when we adopted him, we most definitely took on more than we understood we were in for as we had never had a young pup before. Marie was both patient and kind with us and Baxter, training the whole lot of us and no matter how silly the question, she had an answer. Definitely worth every penny and now Baxter is a graduate of her Basic Obedience Course. I will definitely call upon her in the future should a need arise and you should, too. :) read more

If you have a puppy, YOU NEED MARIE!!!! I should say if you have a dog you need Marie! We got our Golden Retriever puppy about 4 weeks ago, and felt nervous and lost. Marie instantly calmed us from the moment we spoke on the phone. She was patient, and honestly helped us every step of the way. She was clear in her instructions and I think taught my family more than she taught our puppy . She always left paperwork we could review if we forgot how to do something which helped us a lot. I truly believe Marie thinks of you and your puppy like family. Marie is worth EVERY penny! Marie is a fantastic trainer! We tried two other trainers (one class, one private) before Marie, and had practically zero success. Marie patiently, yet efficiently, taught our dog (and more importantly, us) the proper way to interact with each other. Our 11 month old puppy was very wild before the training. But after every session, she became better and better behaved. Now our pup will come when called, sit, lay down, stay, leave it and more. And we are all enjoying our relationship with her so much more. Thank you, Marie. We give you our highest recommendation. read more

I found Marie on Yelp when I was looking for an obedience training class when I rescued my dog a couple months ago. Since I was introducing a new dog to our family where we already had another dog, I felt overwhelmed and worried during this adjustment period. Working with Marie during these early months helped me gain the confidence and leadership ability that a pack leader needed to have to make the adjustment period smoother. Aside from teaching our dogs the basics, Marie gave us the tools to become strong leaders which in turn made our dogs more secure with each other. We worked with her over 4 sessions and were encouraged to be diligent with homework to reinforce the new commands. It was important to learn that these skills needed to be reinforced throughout the day and not just during training day. Marie was very patient answering our questions and concerns. She was calm and knowledgeable when working with our dogs, and one of them wasn't the easiest to work with either! Towards the end of the last session, there was huge difference in Biscuit and for that I am grateful for Marie's help with teaching us to become better dog owners. I would highly recommend Marie. Her prices are affordable for two dogs and we got the attention we needed. Her schedule was flexible and communication with her was wonderful. Thank you again Marie for your help! read more

Marie "The Dog Master" is one of the nicest and most patient trainer you and your pet will work with. I first met Marie when I signed up for puppy training. She met my Akita (Bodhi) at age 8 weeks, he is now 2 1/2 years old and have graduated from puppy and intermediate training. I have continued to work with Marie because she understands my needs and the best way to work with my dogs. She has worked with both of my dogs, a Chow Chow and Akita, two very stubborn breeds and have achieved good success. Her private lessons are the best, working with my pets in the comfort of my home. I have recommended Marie multiple times to my friends and she has always done very well with them and they have continued to work with Marie to this date. She also works with rescues and shelters to try and place unwanted dogs. She has a true passion and love for dogs, which surprisely isn't always true with most dog trainers. 5 Stars all the way!!! read more

WORTH EVERY PENNY. Marie literally saved our family - and is saving me a lot of money in vet and medical bills. My 2 dogs (both found as strays) had been fighting regularly, and had just begun badly injuring each other (and me when I got in the way). I was terrified that I would have to re-home one of them and break my daughter's heart. Marie literally came to our rescue. 3 weeks after carefully following Marie's program, my dogs are happier, more confident, and (most importantly) not fighting. Turns out I needed to change my behavior to become a good pack leader so they would know their roles. If you have a dog with behavior issues and you find yourself at the end of your rope, Marie may be your answer too! Don't give up on your dog! read more

We hired Marie to help us with training or puppy and it's the best decision ever! My husband and I are new puppy owners so we needed the training just as much as our puppy. How can I put into words how wonderfully valuable and helpful Marie was.... My husband and I have two smaller dogs, Cora (basset hound-shin tzu mix- 3yrs) and Bailey (Terrier mix- 2 yrs). They are our babies and we love them to death, but it became clear the more we had people over that they were running the house and we weren't stepping up enough to be the "alphas". Freddy (my husband) found Marie on Yelp and we had 4 training sessions with her. Within the first ten minutes of meeting her, we knew we made the right choice. She is gentle with the animals, stern with the commands, and gives constructive criticism to the owners. If you are looking for a dog trainer on Yelp, chances are you have realized we as the owners are part of the problem when it comes to training our dogs. Marie's slogan of "I train dogs AND people" is my favorite because for anyone that has watched Cesar Milan, you know that at least half of the issue is how the owner interacts with the dog. Marie gave us fantastic tips each time she came over, gave clear instructions, and really scaffolded the training so it is easy for you to do as well. She first shows you how to command the dog, then she has you try and if you need any adjustments she is very helpful in correcting you in a gentle yet firm manner. You will have homework each week because your dog will only benefit from the trainings if YOU take an active part in the training! Marie gives about 4-5 commands to practice throughout the week (she even gives you a handout with instructions in case you forget), and when it is time for your next session, she evaluates you and the dog to see how well they (and you) have learned the particular command. If there is any difficulty or if the dog just didn't quite get it yet, she takes the time to make sure they get a better hold of it before moving on. My husband and I really appreciated that she catered to each of our dog's needs as they moved at different paces. She has incredible patience (with both the dogs and the people ;)) and we are truly blessed to have found her. On our last day of training, she even gave us a Certification of Completion, a picture of our pups from their first day of training, and she even spoiled our girls by giving them a toy! :) **For those of you skipping my insanely long review, here's the most important thing to take from this: We HIGHLY recommend Marie for any and all of your dog training needs...SHE IS AMAZING! read more

The Yelp! revues led us to Marie, and we have been happy clients as are our two dogs. She provided 4 lessons at our home and each was intense. Both dogs, the 11-year old lab and the 2.5-year old Ridgeback mix proved up to the goals she set forth. It was just as important for Marie to train us as it was to train the pups. We had to learn what to do when the doorbell rang, when strangers entered the house, when the two dogs would bicker about a toy, etc. I originally hired Marie to work with the younger dog thinking old dogs don't learn. Boy, was I wrong. Now we treat both dogs more equally and the younger dog's once growing aggression towards the older one has ceased and we are a much happier family. Thanks to Marie!! read more

I wish we had known Marie and used her services sooner! My 19 months old Shichon is perfect in my heart only with few issues needed to be addressed . Marie was an excellent dog trainer and I would highly recommend her. Besides doing home visits, she'll go with you wherever you need in order to work on certain behaviors. I'd taken my dog to training several years prior but no one compared to Marie. We worked on basic obedience as well as some separation anxiety and mild aggression. She taught us so much about our dog, how to be the pack leaders and how to achieve a more balanced and harmonious relationship with our dog. Harry, our dog, is on the road to becoming the dog we always wished and dreamed for...he is calmer, more responsive to commands and appears to respect us more. We didn't think it would be possible to have our dog be calm but we can clearly see a difference after our training seasons with Marie. He is more confident and calm.
