Disappointed in my experience. I originally sought out this company as my husband and I rescued a very reactive Australian Shepard & I had read raving reviews on Tony's ability to transform dog behavior. We worked with Tony in our home 1:1. While Tony was very knowledgeable, after 2 in home sessions he determined that our dog was not improving and needed to be moved to eCollar training to handle his behavior. He essentially told us that it was eCollar or accept that no one would ever be able to come into our home because of our dog's behavior. I was devastated by this as I see the potential in my dog and didn't think we'd gotten to the point where an eCollar was necessary- it had only been 2 sessions. We decided to hold off on the training for this tool to continue researching our options. When I asked to reschedule suddenly Tony's assistant suddenly started taking days to get back to me, even when I'd respond promptly to any follow up text. This made it seem like my business wasn't needed anymore since we weren't eagerly going along with this plan. I recently rescued a German Shorthaired Pointer named Oakley, and was a bit stressed out since I had 4 cats. Oakley had no prior exposure to cats and his breed are known to not do well with small animals. I sought out quotes from various trainers near me and TJ gave me a call an hour after my inquiry. Needed to find a place to board our Jack Russell while we were going out of town. Our normal go-to boarding spot has been closed for upgrades/renovations and we needed to find something quick. Working with Daysha was a breeze, we were invited out to tour the facility, and for our dog to get to know her. A week later we dropped off our dog for 4 days and 3 nights, we received photos/videos and updates everyday and communication lines were kept open in case of an emergency or if we just wanted to see how he was doing. Coming here was a great idea, and we will continue to use this facility moving forward as they really cared for our dog, he didn't stink afterwards (like he did at some other facilities) and they were super accommodating. Dog training was a goal, even before we got our puppy. I work part of the year in New Mexico, which is where I was when we got Apollo. When he was only 9 weeks old, I called around to see who offered puppy training classes in So Cal, as I knew I'd be moving back there soon. I called many, and FCBT was the most responsive. He couldn't start until he was 14 weeks old due to the timing of vaccinations, (and we had to move back) but FCBT was happy to answer our questions. Deja kept up with us over the weeks, to see how we were doing. Once he had all his shots, at 14 weeks, we showed up for training and doggy day care. We've been with the program ever since, and Apollo is now 10 months old. The doggy day care has been an incredible success. He's very well socialized now, and knows how to play appropriately with other dogs, thanks to Tony and Deja's oversight. We don't have any problems with resource guarding or reactiveness to other dogs. The opportunities he's had to play with other dogs there, has carried over to the world outside of FCBT. Thanks to his experiences at FCBT, we have learned to work to the goals of great recall, loose leash walking, off leash walking, walking with a gentle leader, basic commands, and soon, we'll be entering AKC Rally sports. Tony is a gifted trainer, who communicates well with dogs. He doesn't use excessive numbers of treats. He doesn't use e-collars, prong collars, or choke chains. We feel fortunate that our dog started early and has gone 2x a week for doggy daycare and training so that we've all learned how best to handle a very active now 10 month old 60 pound Australian Shepherd. Tony is one of the few AKC Registered Trainers who can offer the AKC Star Puppy class among other things. All of this is an investment so that down the road, once he's a fully grown adult (4-5 years) the enjoyment of companionship will only grow. All of our communications with Deja have been great as well. Having grown up around dogs as Tony's daughter, the training methods are ingrained. Every interaction has been professional and friendly. I also like the boarding. They take only a very small number of dogs at a time, and someone (Deja) is with them 24/7. They can also train when the dog is in boarding, which I highly recommend. As someone who has had many dogs, I guess my advice to everyone reading my long review is to not lose this opportunity to have your dog learning while you're at work or boarding the dog. It's really worth it. Note: We did tour other training facilities, and talked to other trainers. But there was always something missing in the discussions, which mostly seemed like a lack of oversight, lack of structure, and too many dogs taken in all at once. We just left our Doberman pup Apollo for two weeks. He was only 5 1/2 months old so we were really scared and nervous leaving him, especially since this was our first time ever boarding a pup. First Class gave us reassurance and answered all our concerns. We were able to leave him with his specific food and feeding schedule which First Class maintained. We did a one day trial run where everything went well. When we did leave we got daily texts with videos and or photos - socialization with other dogs, walks, random goofiness pics, etc. We were able to have daily communication and got responses to any questions within minutes. It was a great experience. We just picked up Apollo today and he was super excited to see us . It was clear that he enjoyed his stay because when we were leaving he was showing affection to Deja and TJ who both work at First Class, he didn't want to leave them. Apollo was a little lighter in weight but that was expected as this was new to him. His personality didn't change a bit! We got him home and he was his happy self . I found First Class when I was as looking for some help training my 2 year old Shiba Inu. Tony did a consultation and recommended 3 in-home sessions to help better set boundaries for my dog and improve some of her behaviors. We have a 1 year old female aussie who is a sweetheart at home, but was very reactive when meeting new dogs and it was extremely embarrassing to walk her even if another dog was pretty far away because she would bark super loud non stop until the other dog was out of site. Tony worked with our dog Rosie today and he was beyond amazing. Rosie is new to our family and was showing cat aggression, and a few other small issues. I found First Class Boarding & Training when I was looking to train my 3 month old English Springer Spaniel. I had the pleasure of talking to Deja and she had us come in for a consultation. Deja is the first person you have contact with and as soon as I got on the phone with her I just knew I was in the right hands. Deja was so helpful, accommodating and always so welcoming when we where there for training. I spoke to Deja and expressed to her what my concerns were and what training I wanted for my puppy and she really listened and advised us with what she thought would be the next steps for Maru and she was spot on. Deja scheduled us for a consultation within the next few days and we got the ball rolling with Maru's training. When we arrived at the consultation we met with Tony the obedience trainer and he suggested 5 trainings, with the last one being at home. Throughout the last few months I had the pleasure of really learning from Tony and after the first session there was immediately a difference with my puppy, Maru. Tony is really skilled at what he does and really gave us all the tools we needed to succeed in Maru's training on our own.
