Ian has done an incredible job with Drako in just the first few lessons. He's already helping him with obedience, staying calm, barking less, and walking so much better. What I appreciate most is that Ian takes the time to listen to your specific concerns and goals for your dog, then tailors the training to focus on those needs. Ian has also taught Drako commands that have made a huge difference. I'm now able to walk Drako much more calmly using those same commands. It takes me a little longer to master them than it does Ian, but the foundation is there, and it's made walking Drako so much easier and more enjoyable. I can not express how much of an amazing trainer Ian is! I have a dog, Deku, who had behavioral issues. Deku has been through a previous board and train, but I feel like that board and train mainly tackled his obedience, not his behavior issues. I let Ian know about all of this prior to boarding Deku and he made sure to explain his process with me. He also made me write down goals for Deku so that he can focus on them and make sure he tackled through them. I boarded Deku with Ian for 3 weeks and Ian made sure to send over progress pictures/videos every single day! I appreciated the content of Deku because that is basically my baby lol. There was a mid session where Ian taught me how to properly use the ecollar and showcasing what Deku has been up to the time he was with Ian. Deku was pretty much a different dog by the mid session, so it excited me to have him back after the 3rd week. The day I got Deku back, Ian showed me all of the progress and work Deku did and he was completely different. Deku stopped reacting towards people/other dogs and he was very obedient with following all commands! It's been almost a week now and Ian has checked in on Deku while he's been at home for the week and I also have follow-up sessions included in my service! I have been so happy with Deku is at! Before, I would be too scared to bring Deku out in public due to his reactivity/behavior, but I truly believe he is a completely different dog now, for the better! When I first brought home my border collie puppy, leash walking was a huge challenge. She had so much energy and pulled so hard that I genuinely felt like I was going to fall over during walks. Walks that used to feel stressful are now enjoyable, and she's honestly like a perfect little angel when we go out. Our dogs were kept in their kennels the whole 5 days they were there and not let out to run or play. They were covered in poop and no one told us they had diarrhea. I was heartbroken. 5 star review for Ian... We have been working with Ian for a couple of months now and cannot recommend him highly enough! Our 3 year old German Shepherd/Husky mix, Otis, was leash reactive and walking anywhere with him was becoming very stressful. We reached out to Ian and promptly setup a training session at his facility in Covina. From the 1st session I could tell we had found the right trainer for our pup. Ian started the session with play and gaining an understanding of the issues we were having but also our dog's personality. He made the session fun for Otis and we really liked his style of training using positive reinforcement. He got to work straight away on reinforcing leash manners and teaching us what to practice at home. We had another session at the facility and then the next couple of sessions in our own neighborhood as that is where the leash reactivity was worse. The difference in Otis has been incredible. He is not only doing great on the leash and practically ignoring other dogs on our walks now, but he's also better behaved in general. He listens and responds better to commands. I'm now able to walk Otis past larger dogs (which was his main trigger) with basically no reaction and feel excited to walk with him. Ian is calm, confident and dedicated to bringing out the best in our pup. He makes sure that after each session my husband and I know what to practice with Otis and teaches us how to carry on the training without him there. He is not only training Otis but training us too. I wish we'd have found Ian sooner so we could have avoided so many stressful walks but I'm so grateful for all that Ian has done for Otis and us as a dog family. I had such a great experience at Dog On Fun, and I have to give a huge shoutout to Larrissa for taking such wonderful care of my dog during her grooming appointment. My dog can get a little jumpy around strangers, and in the past some groomers quickly labeled her as "aggressive" and even sent her home still wet because they didn't want to deal with drying her. Larrissa was the complete opposite. She was incredibly patient, calm, and understanding with my dog. She took the time to make my dog feel comfortable and was actually able to thoroughly dry her -- which has been a challenge with other groomers. I also really appreciated that Larrissa listened when I told her my dog absolutely hates getting her nails clipped. In the past, previous groomers clipped them too short and made her bleed, which made her very fearful of nail trims. Larrissa respected that and didn't try to force it. She said she always goes according to the dog's comfort level and won't push them to do something that stresses them out. That reassurance meant a lot to me. The owner, Samantha, also took the time to explain everything and share more about the different services they offer, including daycare and dog training. It was really helpful and made me feel even more confident leaving my dog in their care. You can truly tell that everyone on the staff genuinely loves dogs and cares about their well-being. Ian asked us to write down what we would like to see accomplished in those 4 weeks and we did just that. He met with us and then went over each and every request and expectation we had. He reviewed what the training would entail and how he would build trust and bond with our babies to build a foundation. After that he would start with basic's and continue to develop them into well behave obedient dogs that we could take into public area's like outdoor restaurants and stores. Ian was in constant communication everyday with us and sent pictures daily and video that we could use to help us at home. Ian trained our fur babies on everything we had wanted and expected him to. Like and Lainey no longer counter surf, pull on leash walks, run and bark at bike riders, etc. they have a command word for them to stop playing and listen to us. They sit in place and not move until we give them permission, etc. we are so happy and grateful and the best thing is, this trainer actually really cares about the dog and their well being! He is a trainer that does what he says he will do. He speaks with actions and not just a bunch of words!! THIS PLACE GETS IT!! I was recommended by a friend and was very nervous about leaving my fur baby but Dog on Fun is our official place now. Our moved around rescue pup has been a handful since day 1. He's got the biggest heart BUT he's a jumper, aggressive player (he thinks it's all play but calm dogs do not enjoy his behavior), needy, sneaky, boxer pit mix. I was so nervous about leaving him bc a "big chain store/boarding/grooming facility" had labeled him aggressive after one grooming appointment. Tbh that was my fault bc after two weeks of having him I truly underestimated how traumatic a grooming appt would be for him and he was not himself. Didn't bite or hurt anyone but did try to jump on a few dogs and after that he was banned from any sort of group play. From experience I know this is his way of playing and self soothing but of course that's scary for some people. The beauty of dog on fun is they understand and accommodate his kind of behavior. They made sure to move him when needed (if he kept trying to get dogs close to him to play even though they were in another kennel) and also let me know that play time was not automatically just group play time which is exactly what he needs. He came from a rescue where he was with plenty of dogs but all dogs he knew and who knew him so the anxiety levels were very different. I know he loves play time with other dogs but needs to be eased into it and with other dogs who have his same energy level. I am confident he will eventually make it there but even if he doesn't, he was happy. For anyone who is nervous about leaving their fur baby, give dog on fun a try!
