There are so many positive things to say about our experience with RDT! Before we decided to go through the day training program with RDT we had already tried some online training programs. We quickly learned that it wasn't enough to successfully train our puppy to the extent that we hoped for. Our main goals were to be able to coexist, trust and understand eachother in multi-faceted ways at home and out in the world. We came to RDT feeling defeated and uneducated, but hopeful, and we finished the training program feeling confident and knowledgeable. Their love and patience for all of the dogs that they see is wonderful and I felt so comfortable with them taking care of our puppy and taking her on training field trips. It was really amazing to see the transformation in our puppy as every week went by. I would describe the day train program to be like an intensive boot camp or an accelerated course (with homework, obviously). It feels like a lot of information in a short amount of time but the program is set up with realistic expectations and you're given all of the tools you need to get there. It wasn't always easy but Chloe and the RDT team have an abundance of wisdom and experience to provide support and advice. We put in the work, occasionally made some sacrifices, we pushed ourselves out of our comfort zone, and we did our best every week even if it felt like we had some bad days. Our puppy learned new things, solidified her skills, and had a very fun time! The homework is set up with weekly outlines of training goals and include supportive videos to help get you through training at home. Any questions or issues that I had while completing the homework were quickly and thoroughly answered by the RDT team. All of their advice was so extremely valuable. The training program is 100% worth the investment. We started off with issues of pulling on the leash, jumping, having a big attitude, not listening, being overly excited around people/dogs, and being very mouthy. We completed the training with a dog who is calm, walks nicely, listens well, plays nicely, and overall has a more enjoyable life with us. I'm so incredibly grateful to have RDT in our lives. We had an amazing experience with Chloe and the puppy program. We had a 7 month old puppy that was un-trained, chasing the cats around the house, pulling like crazy on walks and overall not listening to us. Chloe was incredible and listened to all the issues we were having and targeting them so we could have a well behaved dog that we could take to parks and breweries and anywhere we all wanted to go as a family. She tailored the training to the specific needs of us and our dog. After the program was over we now have a very well trained dog who is a joy to take anywhere and go on walks with. When you start training and after the program is done you are able to go on her once a month pack walks or group training sessions for free for life, which has been amazing to do and is always a great reminder. They also serve as a great way to socialize with other dogs. We finished the 8 week complete obedience program with our now 10 month old pup and it was the BEST decision we made. One of our goals was to be able to hike with Ruca off leash. The weekend after we completed the program, we did just that! It's AMAZING what a transformation Ruca has made in just 8 weeks alone. While Ruca knew a lot of the commands prior (sit, down, place, come), she did not always listen. She also jumped on people and counter surfed. We now have a pup who is off leash reliable and will settle if we take to dinners etc, and it's a dream! Each class ranges from 60-90 minutes. The first three classes, we only used the prong collar, and the last five we also used the e collar. However, depending on how your dog is doing, you may introduce the e collar a bit earlier/ later. The last two sessions we met at a dog park to see how Ruca would listen in an environment with high distractions. I researched several dog trainers prior to picking Rooted Dog Training and I would say the cost is very comparable. She also gives you the right tools - e collar, prong, long line etc which I think is great. Also, this is an actual PROGRAM to get results not just private training that may teach you how to use the e collar or resolve a behavioral issue. So I think that's an important distinction! You definitely will need to put in the work outside of class. We trained Ruca everyday and asked Chloe any questions we had. What you put into it is what you'll get out of it! read more

In October of 2019 we got our 6 month old golden doodle signed up for 8 1-1 training sessions with Chloe. We would meet for sessions with Chloe where she would demonstrate what we needed to do and then have myself and my young daughter also do to make sure that we could repeat what was necessary at home. We were given a booklet with commands, a book and an e collar (amongst a few other things ), which were all explained and very helpful during the time we were newly training our pup. I wanted to start my first dog, Riley, a labradoddle off correctly with obedience training right out the gate. I started with Chloe on zoom virtual sessions when Riley was 12 weeks. I was thrilled about the concept of this type of training because the purpose was to enable me to be the trainer. That's exactly how I thought it should be. My dog, my training, I just needed to learn how to do it. I knew though I was going to give Chloe an unusual challenge that she likely had never had with a client before. I'm legally blind. That being the case, what a normal dog trainer could pick up on or do I was often incapable of. For example, I couldn't pick up on the signs of a dog getting agitated such as their ears raising or be able to brace in advances when other dogs were approaching us. It created a lot of difficulties and challenges with me being the trainer, but I was determined I could do it. Chloe was more than willing to accommodate my circumstances, equipment me with the tools I needed for success, and support me through the entire process. There were many occasions I would start to feel bad that my vision created so many extra challenges, but Chloe never once got impatient or frustrated with them. She would respond to every single one of my challenges by first dignifying me and then coming up with a way to work around them. Anyone with a disability or disadvantage like myself gets that this type of treatment is truly priceless. I actually asked Chloe several times to charge me more due to my circumstances, but she refused to. Chloe is just one of those people that has more heart than money. Chloe was from beginning to end an extremely good communicator. I was often surprised with how quickly and thoroughly she would respond to my messages. To say I was 100% satisfied with my experience with Chloe would be an understatement. By the time Riley and I finished the program, Riley had nailed everything we learned. She had already moved onto other things outside of the program because of the fact that Chloe provided me the skill of how to properly communicate with my pup.
