I think the training is amazing and we learned so much in class. It was a little disorganized, but we still got through it and my dog has improved so much. After class they had options to continue on, and we were interested in the intermediate training. I've written several emails (the first one was answered with a promise that they would be sending an invite soon), but subsequent emails, texts and contacts thru Instagram have been ignored. I trained my dog back in 2006 with Kelly in a group class and it was fabulous. I USED to recommend her to everyone. However, I signed up for a group class starting in January and it is run completely differently. In addition to the class being disorganized (3 classes cancelled without providing a reason), terrible communication (emails which were sent and never received, class is now completely treat driven. I don't know about you but I don't plan to keep treats in my pocket every time I go anywhere with my dog. At some point, my dog needs to learn. Another huge issue--Kelly doesn't teach the group classes. I ended up quitting class because for the money I learned nothing. I'm very disappointed however, I'll find a trainer who doesn't rely on food to get my dog to learn. read more

WOW!!! We started in-home training with Kelly a couple of weeks after we brought home our eight-week-old goldendoodle puppy. We wanted to get off to a good start, and boy did we! We could not be more impressed with the incredible work Kelly has done with our dog. This is our first dog and we had no idea what to do. Within days, he had learned "sit," "down," and "stand." Not long after, he could "come," "wait," and get on his "place." She did boundary training so he never runs out of the house when the door is open. She taught him not to jump up on people when they come over and not to nip at people. Then we learned loose-leash walking so we could start taking him for walks after his finished his vaccines. Every time we take him out, we have at least three or four neighbors stop us to complement our dog. They can't believe how well behaved he is. He doesn't pull on the leash and he sits whenever we stop walking. And when people come over to the house, it's always the same thing: "I've NEVER seen a puppy that well behaved!" of course, he's still learning, but we are incredibly pleased with his progress. Our goal is for him to be a therapy dog when he is older, and he's definitely on track. If you are considering working with Kelly in your home (we have not gone to her group class because it doesn't fit with our schedule), expect to invest some significant money. You're dealing with a top-notch professional dog trainer. Also expect to invest some serious time. She's training the owner just as much as the dog (if not more so). You have to work with your dog practicing the skills every day in between sessions. If that's not what you're looking for, take your dog to a Petco class and learn a few valuable tips and tricks for a fraction of the cost. But if you are serious about really transforming your pet into a lifelong companion, Kelly is the way to go! STRONGLY recommend!!! read more

I contacted Kelly a year ago when I recused a 9 mo. old Chi mix, Tula. Tula wasn't potty trained, wouldn't walk on a leash, and barked at everything. Kelly helped us right away with personal, in-home training, and we signed up for Kelly's beginning and intermediate obedience training. Kelly is so knowledgeable and intuitive about dogs of all breeds, sizes, and ages, and she provides excellent instructions in person and via homework videos. Tula is now a Canine Good Citizen with the AKC, which Kelly facilitated for everyone at the end of her intermediate obedience class. I can take Tula just about anywhere, even to cafes. This is an excellent source of dog training! You learn different things other than "sit and stay" the biggest and most important is "whistle recall". Basically training your pup to come back when they hear their special whistle . A few months after completing the beginner course, our pup decided to jump out of the car window while at a gas station thinking it was play time and started running towards a road. We thankfully had the whistle on us, and our 6month old Sheppard mix came running back to us, sat directly at our feet tail wagging looking up at us! It was amazing!! We took our puppy here for basic obedience classes a few years ago, and I am still annoyed by this experience. The class was held in a high school parking lot at night, with one floodlight (which Kelly and her husband brought and set up). It was very dark, and not an ideal setting for a bunch of puppies and new dog owners. Maybe the location has changed - I certainly hope so! Kelly herself was nice, but she didn't really seem to "get" our dog, who was a rescue and was absolutely terrified of everything (we suspect he was abused). She told us to squirt him in the face with a vinegar-water solution to correct bad behavior, among other things. We tried explaining that we weren't comfortable with this, as he was genuinely scared of everything and we had no desire to make him more scared; she essentially told us that we were being too soft on him. She might be good for "normal" dogs, but she is unable or unwilling to modify her approach for dogs with different needs. read more

I would give no stars if possible. I took my first rescue dog to Kelly years ago, before yelp. Just as others had stated she held her class in a parking lot. My dog was great with people but not good with other dogs. Her guidelines were that you had to have a leather leash for class. My dog was lunging at other dogs so she had me go across the parking lot with her husband and he was wonderful again. At the end of the class she had us come back with the group. Her husband asked to take my dog for a minute. I thought it was OK because it was her husband. Well my boy snapped the leather leash lunging at a retreiver. This never would have happened with a nylon leash. Kelly required a leather leash to take her class. I took full responsibility for my dogs actioms and was thankful nothing happened to yhe golden. Then Kelly told me that I was not invited back to class as others were afraid of my dog. She also said that there are plenty of dogs in the shelters that don't have any issues that I shouldn't waste my time with this dog! Seriously?!?!? You are a trainer telling me because of a bad beginning that my dog is not worthy a good future? Thankfully I did not listen to her and found another trainer. With patience, dedication and structure he became a wonderfully balanced dog that earned his CGC certificate and has helped foster many dogs and cats. So if you want a trainer that thinks that dogs are disposable if they do not act the way she thinks they should, then she might be the trainer for you. I have no respect for her and my dog could have lost his life if I listened to her. Shameful!!! read more

We've used Kelly's K9 training services for 16 years. She has taught us so much and we've learned our whole family needs training, not just the dog. Having everyone on the same page helps keep the training consistent. We've adopted large breed dogs and Kelly's helped us introduce the new dog into our family of pets. Today was my first in home puppy training with Kelly. She was amazing!! She was very thorough, and included my two young boys in the training. She seems very knowledgeable and realistic. I reached out to a few other trainers and their price was absolutely ridiculous. (PART 2) Next thing I know the TDI representative walks up to my dog, my trainer & myself & says, "I want you to know that if your dog doesn't pass today you can come again to another test and I wont charge you." My thoughts are now turning to angry in response I say to the TDI representative, "You guys are going to fail him and the test hasn't even started , as you can see my dog is very well adjusted now we where not even here 5 minutes and Kelly has informed me that my dog will not be passing the test, How when we haven't even started the test? TDI rep. than reply's, "No, that is not true." I said, "yes, it is because both of you keep talking to me about him failing but yet we haven't started the test. " I then said, I am going to be very honest with you, I know my dog was shy/scared when first walking in here however he has since calmed down & that is why I brought him early so he can adjust and be calm and ready for the test come test time. I feel you two are not going to pass my dog because it is not one of her dogs that was trained by Kelly's K-9 College." TDI rep. response to my words, where "no, lets see how he does on the test." I said, YES, good idea! thinking in my head, wow unbelievable how they already know who's passing & who's failing before the test even starts! What a unprofessional group of people! Test time...my dog does all commands, interacts with other dogs, interacts with children & patents. Nails the "leave it", walking through the door entry, sound reflex no response, stayed on "stay", came only when he was called. Everything perfect as my trainers words to me, "he did the best on the test out of all the dogs" One of the test was being able to walk past another dog while walking handlers shoulder to shoulder, my dog was so excited thought he was going for a nice walk held his head high and Kelly makes a comment, "wow...show dog" so rude & un called for, let alone during testing! Other handlers laugh it off...it only infuriated me more! We where told to go back into the room before going to see patients, TDI rep. walks up to us and informs us that our dog did exceptionally well on all commands and that she will be happy to certify my dog once he gets more social with other dogs. I then reply to her, "OK, so its the first 5 minutes that we where here that you are basing this one, because he did everything on test???" She then replies, "OK, lets try this...lets have him go visit the patients with the other dogs you stay in back so I can see how he interacts with other dogs." I said ok, during our visit my dog came nose to nose with two German Shepard's, and interacted very well with a Lab and a Shiatsu, (all Kelly K-9 College dogs) we get done with our visit and the TDI rep walks up to me, my trainer & my dog and informs us that, "he did very well with the patients and it is clear he feels very comfortable with them, however...because he was so scared/nervous/shy in the very beginning I just cant certify him so you can come to Kelly's next class which will probably be in April. The TDI representative could see how unfairly we where treated and offered to meet with me and my dog 2 weeks later just her and myself, our dog trainer and of course Koda then she would certify him. WHAT????...why do I need to meet you 2 weeks later to get my dog certified? BIG JOKE with both TDI and Kelly's K9! Unless you are in bed with Kelly's K9 your dog will not pass the TDI if taking your test through a Kelly's K9 sponsorship testing. I called my dog from wait & 2 other dogs came...they passed! One dog couldn't do sit command, didn't like the feel of grass...they passed. Long story short~ Very disappointed in TDI AND Kelly's K9. Obvious to me that they do not certify the dog only the company who is hosting the certification. Oh by the way, I waited this long to post something because I was going to move forward and get my dog certified but now I see that the TDI group and the hosting company is nothing I want to be associated with. read more

We have a 10 year old female toy poodle. We got Missy as a puppy and went to several series of Kelly's K-9 Training Classes with great success. The classes were very helpful and all of the people in the class were great. We also take Missy to Kelly's K-9 for grooming. We had tried several other pet shops for grooming in the area, but Missy always came back a bit traumatized. We have been taking Missy to Kelly for over 8 years now and Kelly's work is by far superior, and Missy really enjoys going to Kelly's for her regular appointment. My Pomeranian is afraid of everything, including her leash. The Puppy Preschool and Puppy Kindergarten classes we attended were held at the Community Center, indoors. When Kellie was demonstrating how to train a certain task, everything Kellie said a dog would do, it did. Kellie also gave great tips at each class for at home such as water & vinegar in a spray bottle for barking issues, potty training tips, tips to prepare your dog for a vet visit & grooming, plus many more. We have been using Kelly's K-9 College & Mobile Dog Grooming for over 10 years now. We started with our first puppy at 12 weeks and did 'In Home' training. When the 2nd puppy came along a month later we started her at 8 weeks and it was not a day too soon. They are so eager to learn. We now have 4 boxers and they have all been through training, all have had in home training and a couple of them have also gone to the group classes. The best training was the boundary training. We were surprised how quickly the dogs get this down. They will not leave the yard unless we release them to do so. The mobile dog grooming is wonderful. When one of our dogs was old and fragile they took such care to help him with his dry skin. He would relax in the tub with an oatmeal soak and he felt so much relief from that. Kelly is great! I contacted her regarding my dog reactive/anxious dog. I was not expecting any miracles, I just wanted my dog to relax around other dogs. We did a few private sessions, one of which we took my dog to the dog park. I would have NEVER done this, but it went great! Although we didn't go inside, we let my dog sniff dogs through the fence and before I knew it he was initiating play, tail waging, happy dog! It was not an overnight transformation, but it was much quicker than I imagined. Kelly showed me what to look for, when to correct, and when to relax.
