Hi everyone, recently I have started getting into the fish keeping hobby. I decided to go to Petco San Dimas to get everything I need for my set up. The first day I went in I was immediately greeted by several employees. After this I had a couple of questions. He answered every question I had with a smile on his face. When I went to check out he introduced me to a subscription to help me save 15% off, which I immediately jumped on. We had THEE MOST difficult week, and came to this store to get our puppy a gift and to sign her up for AKC Good Citizen Classes. To this end, the staff was initially having a very difficult time signing us up. They were about to send us away, however, Tim came over and helped us out. While the original staff was content with sending us away without making the large sell, Tim was concerned about helping AND simultaneously opened another register to checkout other customers. Tim demonstrated excellent and attentive customer service and problem solving, all while being very pleasant to interact with. He had NO idea how much we needed that kindness and extra effort. read more

Fantastic and welcoming service by Nick today! Very professional and attentive to my needs. Me and my dog Stitch, had a great time looking at the Betta fish and other products we needed. Nick has such patience for Stitch when she was jumping. This was one of the best customer service I've experienced. Nick made me smile till the moment I left! Will definitely start shopping at this location. I also appriciated how clean the store was. The PetSmart I usually go to the fish tanks are not clean and the fish aren't as healthy. I normally place my order on the app and pop in to pick up my order, they also offer curbside, but I like to come in and browse a little too. Today I came in to purchase cat food for my son's cat and Jose helped me out. He was extremely helpful and went above and beyond by calling other locations to, see if they had the product that I needed which this location was out of at the time. He was polite, friendly, and exemplified good customer service. He was able to find a nearby location that carried the food I needed, and I left a happy camper despite them not having what I needed. This is how customer service is done. As a sidenote, you usually get 10% off if you place your order in advance so that's enough to keep me a loyal customer, I love Petco and I love this location even more. read more

The San Dimas location is well-maintained. The small animals and fish that they have in store appear to be very healthy. They have a wide variety of pet food wet, and dry. They have many items for birds, hamsters, fish, reptiles, guinea pigs, rabbits, cats and dogs. They have a groomer inside which I have not used so I am unable to recommend. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I have almost always been able to supply my dogs with what they need at this location. read more

Unprofessional staff, and it makes me sad because I really enjoy taking my dog to Petco. I called to schedule a grooming appt for my dog on Monday. I have to call because that's the only way I'm able to book a VIP service so that my dog doesn't have to be in the kennel for long hours. The only available appt they had was for Friday at 2:15pm so I went ahead and booked. On the thursday before I was sent a confirmation text saying "we're excited to see you and Penelope tmrw at 2:15pm" and then today (Friday) I received a similar text at 9:32am saying "looking forward to seeing you today". I then get a call at 11:58pm from a lead saying that my groomer Alicia does not feel comfortable grooming my pet because of the notes that she read. My dog is kennel shy (which is why I book the vip treatment) and she has a hard time with men (bit a male Petco employee that was trying to pet her during her groom and did not read her notes). The lead then told me that I should return to montebello to get my dog groomed, when I told her we moved that's why I made the appointment here she just kept stating that I should take her back to montebello. My issue is that I was notified of this cancellation literally 2 hours before my appointment. Even after I received several confirmation texts prior to that. Very unprofessional. Alicia should have read the notes on my dog earlier in the week. She also shouldn't have sent 2 confirmation texts especially not the day of. I left a voicemail to the other lead since the current lead I spoke with told me to take my dog back to montebello even after explaining to her that we moved. I took my dog in to get groomed last week. But upon arrival and assessing him, the groomer told me that she could not cut his hair because he was matted too much and that the matting was too close to the skin. She recommended going to a veterinarian that has a groomer. I ended up having to spend $130 for a haircut. And the groomer at this new place told me that basically the groomer at petco was weak/ not good at her job if she wasn't able to cut my dogs hair. So all this was unnecessary. Find better groomers. The one I dealt with wasn't that friendly. I believe she just turned us away because she felt like it. read more

This review is for the grooming. Today I had an awful experience and I'm beyond offended. I'm also leaving with a dog who was never washed. I have been taking my dog here for years but today the lady working at the groomers accused me of not taking my dog to the vet and tried diagnosing my dogs ears with mites. Anyone with dogs knows that this time of year can create allergies for dogs. I have a pitbull mix which are even more likely for allergies. I was turned away for this reason. Employees are nice, a bit understaffed so you might have to search for someone if you need assistance. Petco in general is a bit overpriced, but they have a wide range of stock for different kinds of pets. I seem to always get lost in the cat section and walk right by the thing I'm looking for, the aisles are kinda narrow and not great for browsing. read more

This review is SOLEY based off of an amazing employee that has continually helped us when we go in for our puppy Pearl. The employee's name is Jacky. Jacky goes above and beyond to help us and answer any and all questions we have. Whether it is questions about food type, food brand, treats, toys, Jacky is always willing to help us out in the most sweet and kind way. She has shown us hamsters, birds, fish, and recommended puppy play and the grooming department for our puppy which we now, because of Jacky, take our puppy to get groomed. An utter and complete catastrophe in "customer service." My wife placed an online order for a bag of dog food. We've ordered the same food countless times so we have an idea of the timing in which it takes them to get the food ready. I go in, I'm enthusiastically greeted *wink *wink by a woman with a face diaper on which proceeds to take me to another register to look up the order. After her urgent and swift customer service, she proceeds to call the 'manager' Adin. There is a woman behind me who only has a small bag of dog food. I asked the esteemed customer service representative if she would "like to assist the customer behind me since we're waiting on the manager." She glances at her, glances back and me and says, "Umm no." Adin arrives and asks for the name. I give him my wife's name and I tell him we ordered about 15min ago and if it was ready or not. A simple yes or no would suffice. Instead, in a condescending tone and demeanor, says, "Our orders take at least 30min or so to be picked." Proceeds to give me a motivational speech about their logistical nightmare. None of which has any relevance. The woman behind me asks if she can be rang up and he replies, "Ummm you can go to register 1!" I was floored the way he responded to her. You can't always help what happens to you but you do have a choice on how you respond to it. I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed. Do better guys. read more

I come to petco when I dont feel like going to walmart, target or dont want to wait for amazon delivery. They're cheaper then petsmart. When you do pick up, you always get a discount. There is always parking. Orders are always ready in a timely matter. Staff is always helpful and friendly. This location is always clean and quiet. read more

This team is so awesome! I had bought a female Guinea pig from Petco in San Dimas, but less than 24 hours later I noticed that her front paws were bleeding and she kept biting at them. I brought her in for their 30-day vet coverage, and they took her to a vet (Chaparral). She took a few weeks to heal at the vet, and I was not charged for the cost of the vet and got to adopt her at no cost as she has a pre-existing condition. Petco kept track of my phone number so that I could come pick her up and she wouldn't be lost. I love coming to Petco compared to their other competitors because of their prices. I have 2 HOLLAND LOP RABBITS so I need to constantly keep up with treats, toys, pellets and hay. With a combination of those the total adds up rather quickly. However, in stores they are able to do price matches which is great! I normally take a screenshot of their product and show it to the cashier and they never have a problem with it. I also recommend getting their membership because points add up and you can get a discount on your purchases. This particular Petco is located in a pretty busy plaza where Coffee Klatch, Trader Joe's, and Target is located. There is also plenty of parking so there shouldn't be a problem, even at peak hours. For small animals their products are located on 3 different shelves which I found kind of annoying since I had to keep going back and forth if I forgot to grab something. This isn't the primary location I usually go to but it is clean and has everything I needed. T R E A T S Large rice pops My bunnies absolutely LOVEEEES these. I highly recommend getting these if you have rabbits. I normally purchase the bigger size and break it into smaller pieces for them so they last a bit longer. Normally $3.99 but with the online price match it was only $1.59 Small alfalfa rolls This only comes with 2 and I rarely get this for them because they are similar to the rice pops except it just has the alfalfa hay in it. The product itself is individually wrapped in plastic so before giving it to the bunnies make sure you take the plastic off! Normal price for this is $1.99 however with price match it was only $0.89 H A Y All natural Timothy hay Original price: $10.99 but with price match it was $7.99 and they currently have a promotion of $2 off when you use your Petco pals! Absolutely the worst customer service. We went there yesterday. First of all the male employee went over to the female employee who was re-stocking and checking the aisles. He said to her jokingly, "Can I help you?" It is only because I made eye contact that he then referred his question to me- a customer. I asked him for advice on a magnesium supplement for our dog. He pretty much just read the ingredients on the products. No knowledge or care about what PETCO is selling. When you go buy a refrigerator, you expect the salesperson to be knowledgeable and Helpful! Not annoyed or indifferent to the sales. I can read the labels myself. I went to pay at the cashier, she asked," Did anyone help you?" I answered a firm "No". He was standing near the checkstand gossiping with his other male employee and rolled his eyes and walked away. I am so perturbed by this lack of professionalism, I had to write a review. Of all the pet stores and Petcos I've been to, this one is definitely my favorite! It's a good travel distance from where I am but worth it. The staff here makes a huge difference, everyone here is awesome. I love how big the store is and the wide variety of pet goods! I haven't used the dog training classes but I've seen the trainer (I don't know her name) and she is amazing. She's very patient with both pet parents and pets as well as explains things very throughout to pet parents. MOST IMPORTANTLY, I wanted to give a shout out to Jenny. She is absolutely the sweetest staff and very hard working. Every time I see her she's always got her hands full but always makes time for customers. She really goes the extra mile for the store. Can't believe I haven't wrote a review for this place! I love taking my dogs here! I'll start with three groomers. The girls who work there are super nice and very patient. My chihuahua is nervous around strangers and they make her fell safe when I take them there to get their nails cut. The staff is also very helpful and friendly. It feels like a family owned store. Petco also carries merriks!! Thats great since a lot of places don't. I also take my dogs to the puppy play time free play group. Stephanie the trainer is awesome and gives great advice. Def recommend this place. They also do fun events like doggy paw prints, Halloween contest, and pics with Santa. read more

We stopped at this petco on the way home from the dog park because Autumn was in need of a new toy. We were really disappointed with their toy selection. There wasn't much, and what was there she (a 7 month old lab) could destroy in minutes. I prefer some of the other petcos that carry multiple toys from the VIP pet toys (Tuffy and Mighty Dog toys). Just felt that this place catered more to the small dog crowd with their clothing and toys and tiny collars. read more

Came by here this afternoon with my husband since we were already in this plaza shopping at Target and grabbing a cup of coffee over at Klatch Coffee (There is plenty of parking in the plaza this Petco is located in). Since it is shortly after the holidays, currently all of the Christmas items are 50% off the original price. Also we found out that all of the freshwater fish are 75% off, The guy at the register told us that there is nothing wrong with the fish (they are not sick or anything like that) but that they have to reconstruct the aquatic section, thus needing to get rid of them by January 1st. Honestly that's an excellent price deal, but we upgraded to dogs (3 dogs to be exact) several years ago. The only 2 employees we interacted with in the store were pretty friendly. Pricing at Petco is pretty comparable to Petsmart (although sometimes Petsmart is cheaper and vice versa). Overall, will probably stop by here again if we are in the area and need to get something for our dogs. read more
