We had a 4-5 month golden retriever girl named Gelato at the time. Gelato had normal puppy behavior like barking a lot, jumping on people, general commands and tricks. We had found Tori on Yelp or Google and set up an appointment with her. Tori does 6 sessions, the first my boyfriend missed. I couldn't believe how entirely different and mesmerized Gelato was during the first session. The same things that we were asking our dog to do with great difficulty, were the same things Tori was doing in the first 10 minutes with ease. My boyfriend didn't believe me when I told him. Skeptical, he attended the other sessions, in which he was blown away at how well she worked with Gelato, as well as her deep knowledge on dogs and training in general. I think a lot of people expect a trainer to "fix" a dog and Tori helped show us that we needed to work on communicating with Gelato, and use positive reinforcement instead of negative reactions to bad behaviors. Gelato is now 9 months old and honestly a different dog. She graduated from what we call the elementary level training and we already signed up for Tori's Masterclass. Torrie is amazing and I'm not sure what I would have done if I didn't find her on Yelp. I rescued Willow (Briard puppy) from the animal shelter and came to find out rather quickly that she had more energy than I was prepared for. Being home alone all day, Willow had a lot of pent up energy and showed it by chewing, jumping and biting me when I got home from work. I considered giving her to a family that had a backyard and the time to spend with her all day. She obviously demanded a lot of attention and I wasn't sure that I was the right person to give her a home. Torrie came to the rescue and within the first session, Willow began to settle down and respond to the commands that Torrie taught us both. Willow began to look forward to her weekly sessions with Torrie and so did I! I learned so much about caring for Willow and Torrie was always a text away if I ever felt at my ropes end. I would definitely get frustrated and she always reassured me that Willow is a puppy, this behavior is natural and if I would be patient...these behaviors will diminish over time. At the end of our six weeks I have a dog that I enjoy spending time with and who has learned to respect me. I can't say enough good things about Torrie: She's very flexible, she's so knowledgeable about techniques, types of food/treats, grooming, etc. If it has to do with a dog, she is an expert! As we finish up my rottweilers training I thought I would leave a review of my experience in training with Torrie. When we got our puppy Diesel I knew we needed to find a trainer to help us along the way. We needed two things 1.Someone we can afford and 2.Positive reinforcement (no prong, choke or shock collars) When we found Torrie we decided to do the basic obedience program of 1 intro session and 6 sessions after that we began in June and our last is in September. She is extremely knowledgeable and understands dog behavior. We were clueless and with her guidance she helped us train him into our perfect puppy and not to mention it was right in the middle of a pandemic. She has a kind heart and you can tell she loves what she does. She was always there to answer any questions and concerns and we loved meeting with her. I think of this course as life long learning.
