Mochi and Alan
Leslie L.

Five stars?! Every bit of it. If you know my pup, he is the typical strong-willed Akita. He is 8 months old, but looks like a full-grown dog. My hubby and I have been trying to work with our baby, Mochi for a few months walking around our neighborhood. He actually dragged us. We would come home with exhausted arms/hands from getting a grip on him. Oh, and we dread taking him out on walks. We did not want any harsh techniques/strategies that people have been trying to tell us to use, not limited to choke collar and ecollar. We have tried positive reinforcement and you know all those treats cost A LOT! Our friend told us about Dog World Order a few months ago. I regret not signing him up sooner. We wouldn't have to deal with the challenge of Mochi pulling us like crazy for months. Not going to lie, I did call a few dog training businesses that had great reviews on Yelp. The ONLY one that got back to me in a timely manner was DWO. On top of that, he didn't give me the roundabouts like other places. We did an in-home (side yard and front yard) private consultation. Alan arrived at my house with a professional and friendly greeting. He got to the core problem of Mochi's leash pulling and worked with us every inch. The whole consultation took 2 hours. He was able to get Mochi to stop pulling us in about 15 minutes or so. Our main concern was leash pulling, but he fixed other problems, too!!! Alan went beyond our expectation. There were no harsh training and no treats! All psychology. AMAZING! I would seriously recommend him to anyone.

A million times yes!! Whatever reason led you to DWO's Yelp page, yes!! Absolutely!! Alan can help with that, without any question!! Whatever the behavior is, Alan will equip you with the tools and knowledge needed to implement a strategy that will not rehabilitate the behavior/condition but also dramatically improve the relationship between you and your four-legged fur child. We came to know Alan (DWO) through Charter Oak USD's Community Classes. He's young and very easy-going, but when it comes down to business, his professionalism and experience shine. He's passionate about the change that he influences and will give the time and energy needed for you to succeed. You learn how to effectively communicate with your dog and identify what your dog is communicating to you. My husband and I found Alan just as we got our best boy Bruno-at the time 3-4 months old. We've since enrolled Bruno in Alan's courses 3 times! Not because Bruno wasn't getting it, my boy Bruno is brilliant, but because with every class, we learned how to elevate and strengthen desired behaviors and responses to different stimuli! Alan has been nothing but a blessing to us and we could never thank him enough for the skills he has instilled in us, for Bruno and all our future dogs!!

Canine Foundations Spring 2019 - This is our class on our last day (graduation day).

I just finished up a 10 week adult school course on "Canine Foundations: Level II" with Alan and my dog and I are forever grateful for Alan's wisdom and amazing lessons he was able to pass on to me and my fellow peers. Luckily he was teaching a few of these classes at Charter Oak Adult school in Covina and I happened to see the course brochure and I'm so glad I did. Alan really woke me up to certain misperceptions I had about my dog and taught me how to communicate with my dog on a different level and understand her better. Alan really goes over in depth about dog psychology and how we can better understand it to have a healthy and rewarding relationships with our dogs. He also mentioned mindfulness and being present and how these practices really bring our pack closer together. I could write about all the lessons but I feel like only Alan can deliver a personal and genuine assessment and lessons for you and your dog/s. Thanks again Alan for all the wisdom and big lessons, I'm excited everyday to know that I can continue to build my relationship with Toph (my dog), advocate for her and for myself, and just live in better harmony. Thanks my brotha, all the best to you! And if your dog/s get a chance to work with Alan, do it, you won't regret it.

We first worked with Alan in a beginning group class. We have a 3 year-old German Shepherd who was super reactive towards other dogs. The class was incredibly beneficial because it allowed us to have him around other dogs in a safe environment. Alan is very knowledgeable and took the time to explain a dog's behavior in a way that was easy for us as pet owners to understand. There's so much that we don't see as pet owners when our dogs try to communicate with us. Alan gives insight into what motivates our dogs, how to read their behaviors and gives tools for you and your dog to be successful. He helps you learn how to work with your dogs natural instincts and helps you develop a strong bond with your dog that is not reliant on treats or a clicker. We also did a private consultation with Alan at our home because we thought our German Shepherd would benefit from some one on one time. Alan was able to give us tools to work on from home to make our walks more successful and to reduce our dog's reactivity. Alan was very patient and down to earth and honestly just cares about the dogs and in helping the human take the role of leader of the pack. Alan definitely helps the human as much, if not more than he helps the dogs themselves. He teaches us that it is all about consistency and learning how to communicate with you dog. We still have work ahead of us but are in a much better place and now have a course of action to follow. We can't wait to work with Alan again, and would highly recommend him to anyone who needs help with their dogs!

Alan is terrific not only as a dog behaviorist but a human behaviorist which is equally important! Each session we have had with Alan at our home has been extremely educational in understanding our dog's personality, his energy level and the reaction we would anticipate from him and how to go about responding to our dog's behavior in specific situations. Alan reminds us each time that we need to be consistent and not let our dog drive our actions. Try Dog World Order! You will find yourself fascinated by getting the inside scoop of what drives your dog and what he's thinking!

We cannot be more grateful to have found Alan, our dogs were at a point where we didn't think there was hope. We have two bulldog males and a bulldog female, and since none of them were fixed, it created major issues when the female went into heat. We decided to fix them but there was still some sort of battle between the males. Their fights were brutal, so we had to separate them and have them take turns to play outside with our female. I called numerous dog behavioralists and Alan was the only one who returned my call. His voice gave me hope! He hadn't met our babies yet and he truly sounded like he knew what he was talking about. We booked our appointment with him immediately and he was kind enough to squeeze us on a weekend. Our appointment was definitely God sent, everything he thought us made sense, the way he explained why this or that was happening made complete sense! We got two dog leashes from him and they have been the BEST to control them. Now I can proudly say our boys are learning to live with each other in harmony. Yesterday was the first day they were able to play together! Definitely brought us tears! We cannot wait to bring Alan back to our home, since there is still work to be done. If you or someone you know is experiencing dog behavioral issues, Alan is your man, no doubt about it! -The Barrera's

We were looking for a place to board our 13 year old pitty for the weekend. We were hesitant to leave her at a traditional boarding facility because she's in need of interaction after we lost two of her BFFs within the last year. Our pitty responded very well to Alan's energy and we immediately felt at ease leaving her with him. I highly recommend Alan to watch your 4-legged child while you're away.

Alan came highly recommended through a friend so we immediately reached out to him to get our labradoodle pup some training and socialization skills that she needed. Our family couldn't be more pleased with the results! Alan is patient, knowledgeable, and truly has a passion for his work and the dogs he works with. Our Zena has made incredible strides during the 4 visits we have spent with him, which included basic commands, not charging and jumping on guests, staying off furniture, etc. If you are in need of trainer...give him a call, I know you will be pleased with the results.

Diego & Bella with granddaughter, Giavanna

Alan Lara and his entire family are dedicated to the business of dogs - training, walking, rehabilitating, dog-sitting, helping dog owners understand dog behavior and dog psychology - and just LOVING their 4-legged friends! Diego is my 9-year-old, 100-lb. Giant Schnauzer. Bella is my 10-year-old, 8-lb. Yorkie. Alan and his family took wonderful care of both of them while I've been on vacation or just needed some family time without my dogs. Both Diego and Bella were very comfortable and happy while in Alan's care. Gracias, Alan! You're awesome!! Christine Rodriguez

We rescued a dog that had resource guarding issues and was never pet when she was a puppy. I was ready to give up hope. I heard about Alan and Dog World Order through a friend. His training for both us and the dog has kept the family together. If you need help with your dog I would not hesitate to call Alan.

This training was a real eye opener as to how I need to work with my dog and I have seen immediate changes just in the first couple of days.

We love Fire Hydrant Pet Sitting!…read more My husband and I have been using Fire Hydrant for dog walking and pet sitting for a little over a year now. We have two medium sized dogs that we rescued from South Korea. As a result of their previous lives and travel history, our dogs are pretty reserved, anxious, and not particularly sociable to other dogs or people. It takes them a while to warm up and this requires a great deal of patience and effort. On top of that, they have separation anxiety from one another. We knew there would be times that we were out of town and needed help outside of our family, so we started dog walking with Fire Hydrant to get the girls accustomed to the walkers. Prior to our walks, Fire Hydrant was great with the initial interview asking where everything was, how the process usually works, any allergies, etc. The first few walks I chose to walk with Denice to share some quirks and share any additional info that might be helpful. This was probably over excessive on my part but Denice was so kind and reassured me they'd be in good hands. In the past year, we've been able to work with Denice, Taylor, Stefy, Annika, Deanne, and Amy and our girls have become used to and love all of them. I no longer worry when we're traveling or stepping away for an evening and can enjoy my time fully knowing that my dogs and home are well taken care of by the Fire Hydrant team. They share the exact route they go on and plenty of photos during their visits. Any pro tips I can give to other fur parents who may have anxious pets would include: - Provide high-value treats the team can use with every walk in case of an emergency or as needed - Share any quirks or anxieties your pet(s) may have with the team. This helps and all the FH team members have been so thoughtful to remember my many pages of notes - If your pets take a while to warm up to new people, start ahead of time and continue to slowly introduce them bit by bit. This will help!

Tl;dr: Do not use this company if you have a pet with medical issues that needs medication. Hit or…read moremiss with individual sitters and you have no choice or control over who they send over. I will never use them again after my TERRIBLE experience. Initially used this service for a short business trip with success so tried again for a longer trip to see family between Christmas and NYE. The company sent a sitter I had never met who incorrectly used the pill injector on my sick, elderly cat and forced her to swallow the over inch-long applicator tip. Resulted in $3,000 emergency vet surgery to remove that I had to manage from out of town. So deeply stressful for me but mainly my poor elderly asthmatic cat!! They handled it but SO unnecessary and only happened bc of their bizarre business model where they pick whichever of their employees are available, not someone who knows your house/pet. So if you get one who knows what they're doing you don't necessarily get them again - it's totally random from the customer's perspective. Instead of enjoying my family I had to spend the time managing the emergency they created from afar, stressed and fuming that I trusted this company to send someone competent to care for my sweet older cat. After the first disastrous pill delivery issue they sent the **same person** again a day later who clearly doesn't know how to give a cat medication and she, again, incorrectly gave my cat her medication!!! My cat gets ill if she misses just one day, the medication is a high-dose steroid for her asthma. The employee did not know how to give her the pill, but still marked the medication as administered on their form (I only figured out it didn't happen when I read the notes) and instead of giving her the pill rubbed it on her gums -?!? I am FURIOUS for my poor cat and at the incompetence of this employee they continue to use, along with the management that assured me they know how to give cats medication and yet still sent this individual out after it was proved that they cannot give a cat medication effectively. The other employees seemed to be ok but I had no choice over who they sent over, meaning every visit was a gamble. If you need anything beyond the most basic service, avoid avoid avoid!!!

This review update is loooong overdue. We've been customers of Sitters4Paws for over 6 years now…read moreand they're just fantastic!! The sitters care for our fur babies so lovingly - we always travel with such peace of mind knowing our boys are looked after so well. They have an app now which makes communication even easier - they send emails/messages and many photos with every visit. The sitters follow any instructions very well - we used to have an elderly cat that needed medications and they took care of it no problems! Making reservations for visits in their app is so easy and they approve them very quickly or reach out if there are any issues or questions. They get very busy around major holidays but always make sure to give us a heads up before things get full - above and beyond! On our first visit, a manager came out to the house and met our pets and set us up with a very solid lock box for the house key that the sitters use to enter and exit. They check the mail and will water plants if needed too. They always give our boys so much love and treats and make sure they get some play time in every visit. They fill their food bowls, top off the water fountain, scoop the litter, and even sweep up! Great service! Their prices have gone up quite a bit since we first signed up - but what hasn't nowadays? Lol - their prices are comparable to other sitting companies locally and it's worth it for the peace of mind we get - huge ty to all our sitters and to Sitters4Paws for all your love and care!
