We adopted a dog with severe reactivity to other dogs. I talked to multiple dog trainers before choosing Chloe at Rooted Dog Training. Chloe took the time to ask about my dog and what challenges we were facing and wanted to meet our dog before agreeing to train her which impressed me. Chloe taught me the dog-training basics which I'd never had, and we progressed to using tools (prong collar, ecollar) and designing training specific to my dog's challenges. Throughout, she explained the psychology behind dog behavior and how an understanding of that can motivate your dog and make your interactions more productive. By the end of our series of training sessions, our dog was dramatically different. We could walk her without having to be afraid of encountering other dogs, and she improved in lots of different ways. We're still training, and my dog has room for improvement, but Chloe's training made the difference between our having a difficult home life and now having a much more calm, stress-free home. Our dog is now less afraid, more loving and seems to be enjoying her life more, and so are we! read more

Chloe genuinely cares about the well being of your pet is always attentive on ways to improve. I have a 6 month old Doberman Pinscher who is on her way to being an amazing dog thanks to Chloe's training. 100% recommend to those looking for a trainer. read more

We couldn't be more pleased to have found Rooted Dog training. We did the 3 week board and train and Kobe was a new and improved dog. Chloe is amazing at what she does and has so much love and patience for all dogs. Kobe was a very excited dog and we wanted structure so he would be an indoor dog. After the program we could not believe the results. It is so nice to get to enjoy your dog and have them listen to you. We also had a hard time walking him as he would pull all the time. But now its nothing but an enjoyable walk. Thanks again Chloe!!! And also thank you for being so compassionate with our Kobe and loving him through the process. read more

I called Chloe (on referral from Adrian) before I even knew I was getting my Mini-Aussie pup Esme, and I'm so happy I did! Chloe was super helpful, patient, and understanding throughout the entire process of getting my puppy, potty-training and crate-training her, figuring out what to feed her, and overall adjusting our lives to each other. Chloe was both encouraging and instructive even in moments where I thought "WTF, why did I just bring a puppy home?!" I went in to training knowing I wanted to train my dog off-leash, so we decided the Complete Obedience Program was going to be best fit for my goals. The first 4 sessions focused on leash-training with basic obedience commands, and the last 4 sessions focused on learning to communicate with the e-collar and strengthening the training. I LOVED the results I got with my girl Esme, but what I love most is that Chloe trains both the human and the dog to better understand each other, giving us a great foundation and line of communication for the rest of our lives. I'm so happy to have accomplished my goal of having a good everywhere dog - one I can trust off leash, that I can take on a hike, or out and about running errands. She's not perfect, but we train every day, and learn more about each other every time. Thanks so much Chloe! I can't wait to show you all of our adventures! read more

Rooted Dog Training was the best decision for me and my puppy! Chloe was so helpful and taught us so much, Zero is the best boy now! Her training methods are very effective and she even helps you meet your personal goals. This isn't your average pet smart training program! She also teaches off leash guidance, which brought Zero and I's trust to a whole new level! I 1000% would recommend Rooted Dog Training to everyone!! read more

We had the best time working with Chloe at Rooted Dog Training. Chloe is extremely knowledgeable about all things training related, but the best part was that Chloe really respected our comfort level, and consistently met us where we were. She never expected us to follow a rigid timeline, but instead worked with us to develop confidence and to learn why she prefers certain training methods. She was very patient with all of our questions and concerns, and we always felt like we could be honest with her. In return, she was very candid with us, and we appreciated the open communication. Even though we worked at our own pace, we were extremely happy with Enzo's progress, and it's been so awesome to think about where he started, and to see him now. From the very first lesson, where Enzo learned the "place" command, to our final lesson where Enzo worked on his "off leash," we've been so happy and proud of him. A bonus was that Enzo loves Chloe, and was always excited to work with her. We now have the tools and knowledge to keep working and growing with our pup. We know that we will keep in touch with Chloe because she cares about her clients and is truly interested in offering support and following her clients' progress. Would definitely recommend. read more

Nothing but gratitude for Rooted Dog Training. Our dogs time with Chloe and Andrea was nothing short of amazing. First and foremost these are two humans that really care about the wellbeing and success of your dog/family and the relationship you share with them. We have an 18 month old baby who was just new to waking/running which was putting our dog on guard. Our dog was also baby of the household before our daughter came so she ran the house! She had resource guarding issues, basic behavior issues and even had a couple of nipping encounters with our daughter. Long story short after her hybrid board and train program we have a completely different dog and the stress levels in our home have significantly decreased. We can now take our fur baby out with us wherever we'd like, which has also expanded her world!! We wanted her to be a safe anywhere doggo and that's exactly what we got! a seriously, GREAT, experience and the best thing is, we can still have communication with Chloe when/if needed! HIIIGHHHHLY recommend. read more

I cannot say enough about the training Chloe provides! She provided me with the tools and the understanding to train an obstinate 6-year-old pound puppy. My dog was very reactive but through the course, I learned how to create structure in my home and outside to help him become more balanced. I no longer have a lunging, barking, nipping issue- and that is huge. The results were apparent after our very first lesson. Chloe assigns manageable practice sessions that we do daily- the results are so good we will definitely continue working. If I could give her more stars I would! read more

Chloe worked wonders! We have a goldendoodle named Muncie. She first went to a puppy school class that had a focus for positive reinforcement. Muncie's issues were not resolved with these methods. Chloe used an e-collar to train Muncie during her 3 week board and train and she is a new dog. Muncie had bad separation anxiety and overall a resistance to listening to our commands. With Chloe's help, Muncie can now stay in place when I leave (especially in public places) and listens to my commands like heel, place, and dropping whatever's in her mouth when I tell her (lifesaving command). Once the dog comes home the owner will need to keep up with the commands and training as I did see Muncie trying to push her limits lol. I'm so glad we had Chloe to train Muncie and make her the best and more confident dog that she is now. Tl;dr: If you are going away on a vacation I highly recommend her board and train :) read more

If you have a problem dog , there is no better place to help than Rooted Dog Training. We got Jake as a rescue at eight weeks old. By the time he was a year old he had destroyed thousands of dollars worth of furniture and wood work around our home. He had terrible separation anxiety and would go on a tear every time we left the house that only ended when we got back home. We are by no means new dog owners but nothing we had in our bag of tricks was helping Jake. We didn't believe in using crates or e collars thinking they were cruel but with Chloe's help we came to understand that they were in fact beneficial to the dog's well being. Jake is actually at his most calm and content when he is in his crate and goes into it willingly with excitement. The E collar is just a tool to remind him when he occasionally forgets that he is supposed to listen. We did the three week board and train and were able to watch Jake's progress on Chloe's daily posts on Instagram. Jake is a changed dog. We consider Rooted Dog Training to be some of the best money we've ever spent! read more

Thank you so much Chloe and team for helping me with my pup Dune! If you have a dog with behavioral issues (non aggressive), Rooted is the place for you. I was struggling with explosive leash reactivity, jumping, and overall bad manners with my 1 year old Mini Aussie. After sending Dune to a 3 week board and train program and reading up on the materials that Rooted gave me, I realized that what my dog was actually suffering from was severe separation anxiety (made worse because I was unknowingly encouraging it), and that many of his problem areas could be fixed by tackling the SA head one with structure and accountability. Chloe really equipped me with the knowledge and the confidence to lead Dune, and I now utilize the crate, place command, structured heeled walks, and an e-collar on the daily and Dune's behavior has made a 180. He is by no means a perfect dog, but we're getting better everyday. His walks are no longer stressful for me but instead enjoyable, and I know how to combat his triggers and trouble spots at home and outside. I also have a dog that respects me more and is learning more everyday to be okay with being away from me, and it's been a blessing for our relationship and a huge relief for me as an owner. I can't recommend Chloe enough! In particular, I would recommend the B&T if you can afford it - they really do the heavy lifting for you and it makes keeping up the training so much easier when your dog returns home. read more

Although I am reliant on Yelp for just about every decision I make, I don't know that I've ever left a review; my exceptional experience with Rooted Dog Training has inspired me to come out of my shell and change my practice. Where do I begin? I'll start with Stella, our 4.5 year old beagle mix , whom we've had for about 1.5 years. Her first 3 years of dog life were spent in abhorrent conditions, she was untrusting of humans and essentially feral. For the first year we worked with a fancy, five star rated, (outlandishly expensive) pet behaviorist/veterinarian who gave us direction and medication with little to no improvement. Stella lived in her bed in the corner of the living room, high on Xanax, getting up when no one was looking to go relieve herself on her potty pads. Then we moved from Orange County to Claremont... Over the course of the move, poor Stella didn't eat for days and we realized that without her meds- she was actually the same. And in our new house she seemed somehow more connected to us. Was dog-Stockholm syndrome setting in? Did she sense that our community was more progressive and tolerant? Whatever it was, we took the opportunity to start anew- enter Rooted and Chloe... My husband and I started with a phone consultation with Chloe and we explained our situation- we were not the typical client for Chloe and she was honest that she didn't have experience with dogs like Stella and she wasn't sure if she could help. However she was willing to come meet us and see. From that initial meeting she agreed to help us; And over the next two months we spent five sessions working with Stella to expose her to her fears (and force her out of her comfort zone. Chloe was smart, grounded, and earnest- and interpersonally she is great company, even in stressful, sometimes awkward, hot afternoons. We took her suggestions and did ALL of the homework. Fast forward to yesterday, with the five sessions under our belt, Stella (who we often sadly joked had a fitness level akin to veal and would literally poop herself at the site of a leash) went for a 2 mile walk with my husband and I. I'm getting weepy just typing it. All this to say, thank you Chloe. For your integrity, animal insight, willingness to work outside of the box, and change our little pups trajectory that we feared was written in stone. 10 stars. No joke. read more

This program gave me all the tools I needed to train my reactive chihuahua to be well-behaved. I never could have done it without Chloe & Rooted Training! I used to be anxious just to take him for a walk, worried we would run into people or other dogs but now I bring him to the beach & to dinner with me! Training with Rooted Training really created a better life for my dog & I! I highly recommend!! read more

It is difficult to write this review because I don't know where to begin. Chloe is great. She is very patient, caring, but most importantly, not afraid to give a little tough love when needed (for both the owner(s) and dog). One of the biggest things I've taken away from the program is becoming that leader our dog(s) need and the importance of accountability. If you are looking for an easy way out on training, you've come to the wrong place. If you're looking to do the hard work and put in the effort to make lifestyle changes and reap the benefits, I highly recommend Chloe. We have been able to tailor the training techniques taught and adapt them to our lifestyle. We have the tools and resources to continue on this journey called life with our pup. We've increased our bond with our dog and have meaningful conversations that teach him what's right and wrong through the use of our tools. We also have continued access to Chloe even after our training program concluded. Having Chloe as a resource and as a trainer who genuinely cares for us is invaluable. She's proved time and time again that there is a method to her madness and we had to learn to adapt and trust her and we are so glad we have. Although we may have been hesitant at first (like any dog parent) we quickly saw the positive effects of trusting the process. Needless to say, Rooted Dog Training & Chloe have changed us all for the better. We are so grateful! read more

Chloe is an AWESOME trainer. My fiancee and I adopted a beautiful Australian Shepherd, we named Ellie, and we new instantly that we needed to train her so that we can manage the high energy associated with her breed. After talking to several trainers it was my initial conversation with Chloe that made me feel comfortable hiring her. She was knowledgeable and had answers to every one of my questions. I purchased the puppy package, which consisted of about 6 lessons. Our first lesson was a breeze and through practice and consistency all the other lessons were a great addition to Ellie's training. Ellie has become a smart and well adapted member of the family thanks to Chloe. Thank you Chloe and Ellie thanks you too!!! read more

After over a year with our rescue, Nala, we had been struggling with her behavior. She had previously spent 3 years in an environment with little attention and structure. She was nervous, anxious and didn't listen. After jumping out of a moving car on a main avenue, we had it! My wife found the Rooted Dog Training website and called trainer Chloe. Chloe was quick to respond to my wife's questions via a one hour phone session. After we quickly enrolled Nala in private training courses. We appreciated that Chloe requested our dog's recent vaccine records. Every Thursday we met with Chloe for an hour and a half. The training program was very robust and learned and implemented various commands. During the sessions with Chloe, she demonstrates what our dog is supposed to do and how we should expect her (our dog) to react. She also teaches you and encourages you to go home and practice between session. If you expect your dog to learn, you and your dog must practice! Expect to implement tools like different leashes, collars--including prong and electric. My wife was hesitant to use the prong and electric collars, but she quickly learned these collars are tools that significantly help in the training process. After several weeks of 1:1 training, our Nala is doing very well. She's much easier to manage when going on walks and when at home. We would highly recommend the structured training program that Chloe teaches at her Rooted Dog Training. We appreciate Chloe's professionalism and kindness and look forward to attending the dog meet ups and learning various training tips in the private Facebook group. Thank you to Chloe and her team for teaching us to have a wonderful and stress free relationship with Nala! read more

It was one of the best decisions to take our dogs to Rooted Dog Training. We have a 2 year old Maltipoo that became very reactive at people and dogs, and it made us nervous to take him to places. Even after taking him to another dog training program. We also have a Goldendoodle puppy who has high energy and little impulse control. It was so beneficial to take both dogs to RDT! Before the training, it was a nightmare to take both dogs on a walk. Now, we're able to easily take the dogs on walks and even get compliments from neighbors. We enjoy taking them on picnics, parks, and hikes. Now our Goldendoodle is able to control her excitement and impulses. Our Maltipoo doesn't bark at people and dogs and seems like a happier dog. It was a great investment because now we have the knowledge and tools to discipline our dogs! I would highly suggest taking your dog to RDT. Chloe is great to work with. She's very knowledgeable, easy to communicate with, and encouraging during the whole process. read more

Chloe is an amazing trainer and so knowledgeable. We enlisted her to help with our two small dogs Badger and Moolissa. Badger and Moo both had a list of problems we wanted to tackle. It was our goal to take them on vacation with us and we are so proud to say our vacation was a success!!! They were so well behaved. We can now even take them to dog-friendly restaurants! They will stay in "place" the whole time. Even the waitress didn't realize we had dogs underneath our table. We love our dogs so much but had no hesitation to give them to Chloe for her board and train program. They came back home with such great structure. Thank you Chloe and Rooted Dog Training!!! read more

I recently completed the puppy training with Chloe and I couldn't be happier. I took my Bernedoodle, Penelope, to Chloe 3 days after I got her to help ensure that I started the positive and correct training. I've had dogs in the past but I wanted a dog that I could take everywhere with me if I choose to. Chloe was so sweet and helpful and was always available if I had any questions, comments or even to share in the victories. Penelope is now 6 months and knows all the basic commands like sit, down, place, heel and out. I was so happy that Chloe uses e-collar training. Truthfully, this was the biggest reason why I chose her program. She was great at walking me through the process of what it is, how it works and what it even feels like. I love my puppy and didn't want to hurt her and she made the e-collar process so simple for me to understand. I am so happy and proud to say that I now have a 6 month old puppy that can walk off leash and will stay in the heel position the entire time. I am beyond thrilled and can't recommend Chloe enough! read more

Virtual dog training sessions....we're sold! Our goals included off-leash walking and calling off Max from prey. We have successfully walked w/I 20 ft of prey in an off-leash heel. Wow! He also has been trained to avoid inappropriate barking. We've trained another dog in the past the traditional way, and are amazed at how well Chloe's virtual training techniques work! We're so glad we didn't delay getting Max the training he deserves. Worth every penny! Happy dog, happy home! read more

I just finished the 8 week program with Chloe. I and everyone who knows my dog can see that the difference has been night and day. Chloe is a AMAZING trainer. She really takes time to learn about your dog and what challenges you face. My dog has separation anxiety and none of my previous dog trainers really addressed it. She really guided me on how to combat this issue, and it really worked. Chloe also hosts some dog socials/pack walks so that she can help you with interacting with other dogs. I rescued a young hound mix (Kylie) and knew right away she needed training and I needed to find a trainer that would teach me how to effectively train her. However, I was at a loss on what kind of training to do and then there was the question of finding the right trainer. I spent over 8 months reading about training methods, looking at YouTube videos, Yelp, other dog training sites and reading all the reviews. I even consulted a trainer, but I kept coming back to Rooted Dog Training. I am so glad I did, the time and research paid off! I learned, through Chloe's balanced training, how to use the tools to communicate with Kylie. How important consistency and structure and rules are to get the results you want. Deciding to take my rescue dog Bailey to Chloe was the best decision I have made for Bailey. Bailey was a very aggressive little poodle mix. I could not have people over without boarding him. He would bark and carry on when we were on walks. I had taken him to two other trainings... nothing really worked. But after six lessons with Chloe, Bailey is a well behaved, obedient dog. Now when we walk my neighbors comment on how Bailey is so much better and such a good little dog. I was a little hesitant about some of the tools that Chloe includes with her training; the e-collar, prong collar and crate training. But I was desperate since Bailey had escaped his harness and chased after my neighbor. But Chloe worked with me to understand the purpose and benefits to Bailey of using these tools. She answered all my questions and discussed with me all my concerns. Now both Bailey and I are confident using these tools and enjoying the benefits. I would highly recommend Rooted Dog Training. Thank you, Chloe, you are best!! read more
