I had scheduled what I thought would be a smooth transition day after my vacation to take Yogi to the groomer, but lo and behold, we discovered a possible ear infection. I couldn't believe I had packed my post-vacation schedule like that--you just never anticipate adding an emergency vet visit to the mix, but with pets, you truly never know! I was so worried about Yogi, but the team at Sunset Veterinary Center were absolute lifesavers. Even though they were extremely busy, they completely accommodated us and managed to squeeze Yogi in right away. To make a stressful situation so much easier, they were even kind enough to watch and care for him while I ran out to handle my other pre-scheduled appointments, keeping him safe until I was done. While I was away, Dr. An called me and clearly explained everything over the phone after thoroughly assessing Yogi. He confirmed that Yogi did indeed have an ear infection, and both he and his fantastic team discussed his ongoing health and medical needs with me. The entire team was incredibly professional, kind, and accommodating. They took all the stress right out of the situation and made sure my sweet boy didn't have to go another day without being treated. Thanks to them, he is now resting easy. The great service didn't stop there, either. The next morning, the staff followed up with me just to check on Yogi and see how he was doing. I'm truly grateful for the entire staff here. My sister in law found this place when we were looking for a second opinion for my sweet boy. My baby is 12yrs old and had an underlying cancer. The dr and vet techs were always so sweet and gentle with anything they did and any news they had to deliver was done in a gentle manner and always provided reassurance and multiple options for me to decide what was best for my baby. You can tell they are passionate about what they do. My dogs health suddenly declined so badly where we had no chose but to put him to sleep. The doctor was kind enough to come in on his day off because all my family only had one day they could all come in for this. I recently started bringing my dogs to Sunset Veterinary Center. The office shares a large parking lot with several businesses, but I never had any issues finding parking. The facility is also very clean and welcoming. I really love Dr. An and his team. They are all very compassionate, knowledgeable, and informative. I appreciate that they are honest and recommend necessary tests and treatment plans, without adding unnecessary things. Initially, I needed an exam for my dog, Sora, who has a corneal ulcer. Dr. An was also able to hear that she has a heart murmur that other vets haven't heard yet. I was thankful that Dr. An is thorough and checked everything and not just the eye. Very shortly after, my second dog, Riku, suddenly fell very ill. I was very thankful that they were quick to send me any tests and information for specialty hospitals I needed. Dr. An and his team called to check on him constantly between our visits to see if he was improving. Dr. An and his team truly go above and beyond, and I genuinely feel their love for animals and their jobs. I'll start this off with I'm *very* picky about vets. Over the years I've had several very negative experiences with other vets from being dismissed to not getting proper treatment. Sunset Veterinary is THE place to go!! Not only do the staff always do a great job of making us feel special (remembering my dog and specific details about him), the quality of care is unmatched. They are never dismissive, they look at my dog as whole instead of just treating the symptoms they look for root causes, and if they're unsure about something they take the time to look into it and get back to us with options. On top of that, they're not pushy with treatment plans, they give a variety of options and always answer questions so you can make the best decision for you and your pet. HUGE BONUS, I came in one time and decided against some of the options (a B12 shot) and they asked if they could give it anyway, free of charge. To me, this gave me such confidence that they not only truly care about my pets well being, but that they don't just push treatments to get more money. I can't say enough good things! Really the only downside is they don't perform surgeries, I wish they did because I trust them so much and it's hard to find such quality care. read more

After having a horrifying experience at a different vet with a dog we were fostering, I lost all my trust in veterinarians. I didn't feel safe bringing my babies anywhere, but I heard this place was different. They were right!! From the moment we entered, the entire experience was streamlined, with good communication from both the staff and the vet. We were placed in a room right away and I noticed that the rooms were really clean. They even provide a towel on the cold surface (attention to detail!!) while other vet clinics just have my dog sit on the cold metal table. Dr. An is truly an amazing vet. He took the time to explain my dog's possible diagnoses, we went through every small detail on his xray, and Dr. An even left me ample time to ask any lingering questions. I understand that in the medical field (for both humans or animals) sometimes it's difficult to give each patient enough time, but Dr. An never rushed us and made us feel so cared for and heard. He is a wonderful vet who does his job not for the money, but because he wants to help anxious pet parents feel better in a stressful time. The vet techs/staff also went above and beyond to help me with my pet insurance as I was not familiar with how it worked. I did not once feel like they suggested any nonsensical treatments, and they repeatedly reassured me that I'm free to choose whatever feels right or is within my budget. As a student, it's difficult forking out hundreds of dollars for unexpected bills, but I had no regrets at the end of the day because I felt like my dog got the top quality care he deserved. One last thing I love about this clinic is that they follow up with you for free!! The previous vet from hell (Chino Hills Animal Hospital) we went to had not spoken to us at all after a $5000 2 night stay and refused to speak one sentence to us unless we paid another $100 for visit fee. After experiencing that, coming to Sunset was like a breath of fresh air. I spent $$$$ at other vet locations who misdiagnosed Tubby, and charged me ridiculous amount of money for medication. When I finally changed to Dr. An at another location he was working at, he wanted me to try out a different type of food and simple methods to see if things would change. They deserve all the stars in the world! This review comes with a heavy heart. My son Kobe has just recently past. I started to go to SVC when they first open I believe back in 2022. I was so frustrated with my baby's skin allergies. I've been to multiple vets and did multiple blood test, tried multiple meds and nothing helped. It didn't help my son never likes to go to the vet. Until, I found Sunset Veterinary Center. The staff are amazing and wonderful. They are very friendly and love my son. He would go to the vet at easy. Before he would shiver and refused to go. Since he's been with Dr. An and his staff, he has been very happy and don't mind going to the vet. He knew the protocol of stepping on the scale getting his weight and entering the rooms. What I love about this office is that they don't push you for treatment. They explain things throughly and all mentions certain things can get quite expensive. My baby had the worst allergy. No matter what I do his skin was horrifying and I had no idea what to do. Mind you he was probably 11 years old. When I first visited SVC. Previously his skin was fine. So we did a blood allergy test. I was warned by Dr. A that an allergy test was costly and that the results aren't always accurate. Turns out my son was allergic to everything in this world besides corn, chicken and lamb. I tried to cut down everything from his diet. And that wasn't left with much. But we pulled through his skin started to look better under Dr. An's treatments. Dr. An is friendly and patient. Every time I comeback. I always make the joke. My son is allergic to life. Since he's allergic to everything and keep growing in age. He's about 13.5 years old. He always listens to all my concerns and have a treatment plan that is explained throughly. He doesn't upscale his vet services. He takes time out to explain each one and why it's needed. We've tried so many different meds and antibiotics because of my son's skin infection/ allergy. He also tells me oh this med Cetirizine is Zyrtec so you can buy this outside no need for me to prescribe since it over the counter. My son's favorite tech of all time is always Carol! She lovely and always baby's him. She always baby talk him. Which I guess that's why he loves her so much. She treats him well and gives him a lot of pets and affections. My son usually don't follow anyone. But he ended up following Carol every time. Whether it's to the back for treatment or into the exam rooms. That says a lot that Carol treats him so well. He's willing to follow her. Knowing she won't harm or hurt him. My sons's next favorite would be Terry. Terry has always been very nice and friendly. He's always very patient and treat my son very well. He sometimes follow Terry but not all the time. Sometimes I would need to help them walk him to the back. Terry also treats my son very well. Terry always helps me to trim Kobe's nail. My boy refused to let mommy do the cutting. All in all, his staff are amazing. They treat your pet as their own and show them love and affection unlike most vet places. Now the heart breaking part. Kobe has been having some problems with pancreatitis. I had to take him to an Emergency vet else where and when SVC was within office hours I brought him back to them. When I picked him up from the other vet Kobe wasn't really happy. When we go to the other ER bet he was anxious and restless. I dropped him off at SVC to be hospitalized around 9am. And picked him up at 4pm. When I picked him up from SVC he was full of energy. Very happy and excited. It was as if he went on a play date instead of being hospitalized. That's how much he enjoyed his time with every single person at SVC. Sadly, he had to be hospitalized at another ER because it was after hours and had passed on. However, I'll surely be back and recommend SVC to everyone for how much and truly they care about your pet. Highly recommend! I've been going to SVC for about 2 years, so everyone here is like family. I appreciate all the efforts they have made to help my son. I thank them for giving him an ease to go to the vet. It's been more than a year since we've visited but I felt the need to give credit to an honest vet who helped us save so much money on our dog. My Aussiedoodle had a gnarly accident while playing with another dog and had a piece of flesh tear out from his side. I am BEYOND happy that I found Dr. An and his amazing staff. They are the absolute best! We have an almost 8yr old Rottie and a 2yr old Corso who have inevitably gotten some injuries and ailments over the years. The staff at Sunset Veterinary has been extremely helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating when seeing and treating our boys. They're really good at recommending a more conservative (and therefore budget friendly) approach to start, then more aggressive treatment options if needed. They always follow up to see how our boys are improving and update us on their vaccines and any new relevant recommendations. I've dealt with some crappy vets during my Rottie's early years so I'm beyond happy to have found Dr. An's office and we are definitely here to stay. It's a noticeable difference in my dogs demeanor with this staff versus other past vets. Seriously cannot recommend them enough. We were brought to a room for some quick triaging and temperature check by Carol, then Dr. An came in after. Dr. An takes the time to really listen, assessed my pup and then explained options available, and any associated risks. He is very considerate and respecting of what you decide and there was no pressure to buy unnecessary services or products. Even when I opted in for certain procedures, they are very honest when they were unable to take a sample (due to my pup's anxiety) and removed the charge. Making a seamless experience, they are able to do some procedures right away in a back room. Well appreciated! It's hard to find healthcare practitioners that are as good as Dr. An and his team.
