The rudest doctor I've ever met and the worst experience at a veterinary clinic. I've read similar reviews about this doctor Dr. Choi: avoid at all cost! I visited on January 30 for my cat Elliott to consult about dental issues and a possible tooth extraction, and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Choi. He arrived about 45 minutes late and did not initially apologize. We understood delays can happen and moved forward with discussing our cat's condition. However, when we asked about the risks of a tooth extraction, his response was, "Well, any cat can die here, we don't know," delivered with no empathy or reassurance. He then brushed off several of our questions and quickly asked if we had anything else, making the interaction feel rushed. Later, he mentioned our cat might have an eye condition. When we asked for clarification about what that meant, he told us, "You can Google it," which was shocking and unhelpful. We were considering proceeding with this clinic for a $1,000-$2,000 extraction, but this experience left us uncomfortable. I've never encountered a doctor who seemed so dismissive, lacking compassion and clear communication, especially during a short appointment that lasted only about 10 minutes. This veterinary clinic apparently used to be a privately owned clinic which is now corporate-run. Regardless, there is no place for doctors to lack the basic empathy and compassion to provide care to animals. This experience truly left me speechless. After visiting another doctor at another clinic who was truly compassionate and made our concerns feel heard, I decided to proceed with dental extractions there. We really like Dr Ahn, but unfortunately have to leave due to not ever being able to get an appointment with her. The last two times each of my pets has needed to see a doctor.,We were told they were not available that day. She was very good with both of them and I will miss her but my pets need to have a Dr's office that can see them the same day if needed. Absolutely awful experience. I've filed complaint against this place on the CA Veterinary board and I'm not the only one. After my visit, I later found out this place has a reputation in the neighborhood for being a ripoff. My cat has an early-stage heart condition with cardiogenic pulmonary edema. At the time she was only breathing a bit fast, around 40 breaths per minute, but otherwise acting normal. Instead of addressing the obvious issue, this clinic tried to push a bunch of unrelated tests and medications that would have cost a fortune. The X-ray clearly showed an enlarged heart and fluid in the lungs. Yet the vet refused to give even a basic diuretic. She said we had to wait for the radiologist report and even suggested it might be pneumonia. She also promised to call me once the report came in. Of course that never happened. Turns out she was off the next day and just never followed up. When I called the clinic, the front desk told me the vet wouldn't be back until next week. I asked what we were supposed to do next and requested a simple diuretic prescription. The vet on duty refused and told us to go to the ER. If it was that urgent, why send us home with zero treatment in the first place? Then they tried to claim that only a cardiologist can prescribe Lasix, which is flat out false. I spoke with a cardiology office and their nurse was shocked when I told her what happened. She even called this clinic herself to explain that any general vet can prescribe Lasix. They still refused. We ended up taking our cat to another clinic the same day. A regular vet, not even a specialist, looked at the exact same X-ray and immediately prescribed Lasix to treat the fluid. This place dodges responsibility, pushes expensive tests, and refuses to provide basic care. The receptionist was fine, but the vet's lack of knowledge and complete lack of follow-through put my cat at risk. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone with a sick pet. read more

I took my pet here and they tried upselling me with the total over $600. I only bought a few things and tried getting the other things elsewhere, online. I spent $200 for products they recommended but when I called the next day to get a vet approval for ear cleaner the rude secretary informed me the vet might do it and she kind of laughed she was incredibly rude. If people don't want to work then don't take it out on customers! I don't want to ever come back here. Also if I am low on money but can purchase the same thing online cheaper same brand then why not help the client. The point is to care about animals which are our babies. I do not recommend taking your animals here. read more

Their employees are friendly and helpful. I came back to ask some questions about my cat , who visited the vet during my business trip to oversea. They are so helpful to try to recall what's going on with my cat and even called me back when they find the nurse who helped my cat at the day. So highly recommended. read more

Update: Went to a new vet and they were able to instantly tell something was wrong with my cats kidneys by feeling them. This proves the vet at DB Clinic rushed the exam and doesn't know what they're doing. We ran a blood test at the new vet and unfortunately my poor baby has feline leukemia. Don't go here it's a waste of time & money. Who knows how many "bandaid" treatments and testing they would have done before actually getting to the root cause. read more

Dr. Choi is a very competent doctor, and most important for me is that he has a very good "bedside manner" with my dog- if you can imagine that. The staff is very friendly as well, and I am always left feeling that my dog is on track for a long life thanks to both the preventive and urgent care I get from Dr. Choi. Here's my experience. I hope this helps. I moved into Diamond Bar in 2018 and brought along my 9 year old German Shepard. I quickly looked for a vet that had good reviews and decided to come here. Last year (2022) my dog began to drag his legs and everything else that came with old age. I asked the Vet the question that every other pet owner would ask, "is he suffering." The vet suggestion medication and numerous tests. After paying roughly $1,300 for that visit, I left home with my dog and a bag of medication. Although the medication worked to ease the pain, I know there was not cure for old age. I made the difficult decision to euthanize my dog at home. However, I no longer had medication and I wanted to make him comfortable. I called the vet and asked for 4 days of medication to assure he felt no pain. To my surprise they said they would only do it with a visit. I explained that my dog couldn't make the trip so they suggested a "zoom" appointment. Given my dogs age and all the medical records they had on file, I thought this would be no hassle. I understand this is a business and they operate in making a profit. But given the circumstances, I can't understand how they couldn't make an exception for my dog and ease my grief. So, if you're looking for a vet that truly cares about your pet, this is probably not the place. read more

Well now that I left the place I only went in to help the little kittens get flea medicine. Ended up finding out they are sick and are in need of some medication. Well that's different she the vet did a very thorough job of explaining which is probably what turned out to be a miscommunication. Someone on the phone said I had an appointment at 9:00 and 2nd kitty at 9:30. But and this is a big BUT. I have to say that I noticed 100% that they are very thorough. They take the time to explain everything. Nothing gets rushed here So if that's a plus with you I think this is the place for you. My regular vet had a family emergency and is going to be gone a week maybe more. Is what brought me here. Otherwise I might not have had the experience. And they are very close to home. So I guess I got them all wrong. They're very thorough they make sure you understand completely everything that's going on with your pet which is always a plus I know. I went here for two separate dogs this month. Both of them needed urgent care and this vet was able to book me an appointment day-of. Dr. Choi was very friendly and professional and gave me a full explanation of what was happening with my dogs. Maricar, the vet tech was also very helpful and welcoming. One of my dogs is an aggressive large breed dog, and Dr. Choi and his staff were still willing to work with him, in a muzzle. They ran diagnostics quickly and safely despite my dog being difficult to handle. Both my dogs are healthy and happy now! Very happy with this vet and the staff. I do have a very timid silly cat and dr choi is his the very first and the last favorite vet ever, period. Due to his personality, every visit to any vet has been an absolute failure. But we finally found dr choi who reads cat language and make him peaceful in a vet clinic! I also like dr choi because he is a "caring, discussing, explaining" vet (not the "hectic busy, crowded, 3 minute examination" vet). It has not been very long since my last review, but credit is due. My dog had gotten her lower jaw stuck in her cage and was found at home while my brother in law came home on in his lunch break. He managed to pry her out and got me on the phone and I had him rush my dog to DBVC to see Dr. Choi. My dog was seizing on the way to the clinic and Dr. Choi rushed back from his lunch break to see my dog. I rushed to the clinic from work and was there until the clinic closed, due to the multiple seizures my dog was moved to the ER vet for the weekend. Dr. Choi went above and beyond that weekend.. he even went to the ER vet to discuss the situation with the vet on site and discussed with me the potential issues that may have arisen to cause all of this.. and also what treatment options I had. He would check in with the ER vet over the weekend and then with myself, and made himself available if I had any potential questions. It really made a difference to me to have a vet that would take the extra time to do all of this, without asking for anything in return. Thank you Dr. Choi, of all the vets I have ever taken my dogs to, you are definitely unique, and I am glad to have found such a caring vet as you to oversee my dog's care. read more
