Vet visit #1 Sunshine Veterinary Care
    Casey I.

I'll never bring my dogs back or recommend this place! I brought my new puppy in for a health certificate, as I was moving states. I suspected she had a UTI, so they did a urinalysis. The vet tech confirmed she had a UTI, gave us antibiotics. We didn't get the health certificate to fly. We made another appointment a week later. The vet tech ran another urinalysis and said she was clear to fly. I filled out the information about my flight. The vet tech messed up the health certificate 4 times! I had to call the clinic twice to correct the information. The 4th time I went in person and there were still mistakes on the health certificate. I haven't seen the actual vet at any point. I fly my puppy up the next week. 2 days later, I realize she still has symptoms of the UTI. I took her in to the vet and they ran another urinalysis, ultrasound and x-ray. She still had the UTI, plus protein in her urine. She had urine crystals present. The vet recommended antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and prescription food for the UTI. She had blood work done because the UTI isn't responding to the antibiotics. I'm taking her in next week for a urine culture. So far, I've taken my puppy back to the vet 3 times after Sunshine Veterinary Care. All of the visits have been for the same issue. Sunshine Veterinary Care cleared my puppy to fly when she was still sick! That is disgusting! If my puppy died on the flight I would've sued Sunshine Veterinary Care for their negligence! Sunshine Veterinary Care bills totaled over $800, for 2 visits. Additionally, the vet visits in the new state are over $1,110 in one month because of Sunshine Veterinary Care's negligence!

Ample parking. Entrance to main lobby on the right.

Easy and convenient same day appointments. Called at 8am and seen at 3pm. Vet office is spa-like & not busy. Front desk nurses Crystal and Emily were very friendly, sympathetic and attentive. Dr Lee was knowledgeable, thorough and polite to our chihuahua. Prices was very reasonable than other vet clinics we have been. Extremely recommended. We will be back again.

Dr Z and Team are always so professional and courteous. We trust them with our most important furry family members. Thanks you guys!

Happy and healthy thanks to Dr. Z! My 15 year old baby still grumbling away

Dr. Z is amazing! So glad we switched vets and that we are going a place that actually cares. We found him after going through a crisis with our fur baby and instead of dismissing my concerns and saying that he was on his last legs and refusing service or refusing to help out our baby, he was all hands in and was trying to get the best care for him that we could. Dr. Z is attentive, informative and is very kind and accommodating to our work schedule when we were trying to get treatments. The staff is also great and very helpful! Can't recommend them enough! Wow! I am truly impressed with Doctor, Staff and assistants. You can tell they really care for pets and to just want to rinse your pocket like other vets in Diamond bar... My 13 year old came in for blood work and rabies vaccines. Arturo and Doc did amazing with tiny. Thank you to all who helped us today!

Dr Z and his staff are super amazing and caring not just towards animals, but to us owners as well! I've been taking my pets to see Dr Z for 3 years now and love how he takes the time to explain my pets' health (he's also a great artist!)

How much is an allergy test and a blood test for shih tzu? Also what's the price for the visit?

How much do dog x-rays cost?

$325, but patient's may or may not require sedation dependent on the pet's issue. (ie. a patient with a knee or back injury would definitely require sedation as not to aggravate issue any further during the xray process and joint manipulation)

How much you charge for rabies vaccines? And how much you charge for a six years old , 4.5lbs female dog spayed surgery?

Rabies vaccines cost $25 here with us. Small dog spay procedures generally range between $520-$580.

We brought in an older dog who was already quite sick, and after an emergency illness we had already invested several thousand dollars into his care. We love our dog deeply, but we also have real responsibilities -- including mortgage and college tuition payments -- and we appreciated being treated with respect as we navigated those realities. Dr. An carefully explained the test results, recommendations, and multiple care plans, each with different options and price points, without pressure or judgment. I felt completely comfortable being honest about our priorities, our budget, and our goal of making sure our dog is comfortable and cared for with dignity. Of the three to four veterinarians I've visited in Diamond Bar, Dr. An stands out as one of the most honest, empathetic, and genuinely helpful. The dog who died was a rescue and he could be reactive to dogs. I brought him in with a muzzle always. On February 20th., he was walking and fell to the ground. He could not walk and had little movement in his left front leg. Dr Chao, who was lovely, saw him, xrayed his leg and said he had osteoarthritis and sent him home with Carprofen and Gabapentin. He continued to limp and was lethargic as well, I thought from the medications. I called to ask and they did return my calls. I heard about an injection called Líbrela and gave it to him per Dr Otterson and the tech gave it to him. He continued taking his medications. I ran out of the Gabapentin and called to place an order. 48 hours later, it was still not ready even though their policy was to refill it within that time. I was told when I went in to see if it was ready that everyone was busy, should they stop surgery. Later that day, I had the medicine. Subsequently, a couple of weeks passed and my dog was vomiting, urinating a lot and not eating at all so I called and got an appointment with Dr Chao for April 24 th. My dog would not get out of the car, I later discovered his mobility was failing, and I asked the techs for help. They put a leash on him and pulled him inside. My dog lost 12 pounds in 2.5 weeks and not much was said. Dr Chao gave him an anti nausea shot, a pack on his neck for dehydration and an appetite stimulant and special food. At no time was I told to take him to a hospital to put him on IVS. It was difficult to get him home. My dog never ate another morsel of food and I went out and bought smoked salmon, peanut putter, hamburger, ice cream. He had no interest in food, toys nor me. I called and Dr Otterson called back a couple of hours later and told me to bring him in for a glucose test. I asked her if this could have been a reaction to the líbrela injection and she outright dismissed it saying it was given almost 3 weeks beforehand. I said he had a kidney panel just a few weeks ago and told her now he could not walk and appeared weak. I called and spoke to Dr Otterson who told me to bring him in for a glucose test. I told her about his condition. She did not say to bring him to a hospital with these symptoms b. He refused to look at me and lost interest in everything. At 2am Sunday, hours after my phone call with Dr Otterson, I heard him hyperventilating as if his organs shut down and he was suffocating. I put him in a sheet and took him immediately to an emergency hospital. They came into the car with a stretcher. I could tell my sweet boy was dying and made the painful decision to let him go with me by his side and as peacefully as possible. I never found out what the diagnosis was. Dr Chao did try to call and left a message with speculation and I asked not to call me since I was in such pain after seeing my dog struggle. I wrote an email outlining my concerns and asking for a partial refund since he needed to be euthanized shortly thereafter. No one responded to the email about a refund. I had spent a couple thousand dollars since February, with medications, without a sound diagnosis. Speculation in a diagnosis helps no one, especially the animal. It is my belief that this facility 'failed' my dog. The techs and vets did not seem to like my boy so much. When he was X rayed he had to be sedated even though he came into with a muzzle. One tech mentioned it took 3 of them to do the XRay as if it was a problem. They mentioned countless times that my dog was overweight, which I knew, and when he lost 12 pounds rapidly said nothing. They did send a condolence card. My objective here is to tell about my own personal experience only. I have no opinion on whether you should use this veterinary hospital. It has taken me more than a month to write this review, and I have thought hard about it and believed that for myself but wanted to simply share my own factual experiences. My dog was so loved and I continue to miss him every day. I am grateful to have been there when he passed and that he did not die on his sleep b

She started to sneeze a lot yesterday and it looked like she was trying to get something out of it. Since our regular vet didn't have any appointments, I scheduled a same day visit at Grand Animal Hospital. The doctor (an Indian female, though she never introduced herself or gave her name) examined my dog very briefly which literally just a couple of seconds and said she wanted to order an X-ray and bloodwork to check her white blood cell count. I asked if she could check inside my dog's nose for a possible foreign object. She said she couldn't because it would require putting my dog under anesthesia. I then asked if an X-ray would show a foreign body, and she told me no, it would only show structural issues, which was not my main concern. However, shortly after, she contradicted herself and said the X-ray could show a foreign object. She also said the bloodwork would show inflammation, but my dog's nose was already visibly swollen inside and bleeding, so inflammation was obvious. When I tried to explain that the inside of her nose looked swollen, she interrupted me and said, "there is no swelling, everything looks normal," without even properly examining her. My dog is a Pomeranian with Alopecia X (hair loss), which is a very common condition in this breed. When the doctor saw my dog has no hair, she looked suprised. The doctor seemed unfamiliar with it and suggested my dog must be mixed, which is incorrect. I also mentioned that my dog has itchy skin on her sides, but the doctor ignored this concern and instead just said she didn't see any fleas, which makes no sense since my dog has almost no hair. At the end of the visit, she said a nurse would bring an estimate for the X-ray and bloodwork. When the estimate came out, there was an additional test for upper respiratory infection that the doctor had never mentioned. The total estimate was around $1100 for only x ray and 2 blood work. This is the most expensive hospital ever. Overall, I felt like the doctor did not listen to my concerns, did not perform a proper exam, and was more focused on ordering tests than addressing the actual issue. Because of this, my husband and I decided not to proceed with any of the recommended tests and left. Unfortunately, the visit still cost $59, which felt like a complete waste given the lack of care and knowledge. The nurse was nice and waiting time was quick.

I visited on January 30 for my cat Elliott to consult about dental issues and a possible tooth extraction, and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Choi. He arrived about 45 minutes late and did not initially apologize. We understood delays can happen and moved forward with discussing our cat's condition. However, when we asked about the risks of a tooth extraction, his response was, "Well, any cat can die here, we don't know," delivered with no empathy or reassurance. He then brushed off several of our questions and quickly asked if we had anything else, making the interaction feel rushed. Later, he mentioned our cat might have an eye condition. When we asked for clarification about what that meant, he told us, "You can Google it," which was shocking and unhelpful. We were considering proceeding with this clinic for a $1,000-$2,000 extraction, but this experience left us uncomfortable. I've never encountered a doctor who seemed so dismissive, lacking compassion and clear communication, especially during a short appointment that lasted only about 10 minutes. This veterinary clinic apparently used to be a privately owned clinic which is now corporate-run. Regardless, there is no place for doctors to lack the basic empathy and compassion to provide care to animals. This experience truly left me speechless. After visiting another doctor at another clinic who was truly compassionate and made our concerns feel heard, I decided to proceed with dental extractions there. I would advise not consulting or visiting this clinic!

Jax had a long history of worsening mobility problems, limping, weakness, pain, trouble standing, and documented masses. In 2024, a cytology sample from a mass came back limited/nondiagnostic, but I was never made to understand that this meant a serious tumor process had not actually been ruled out. Later, Jax underwent surgery for removal of masses, and I eventually learned there was "no way to know" what those masses actually were because definitive histopathology was never completed. Over time, the records continued documenting concerning findings including suspected neoplasia/mass, worsening hind limb weakness, enlarged lymph nodes, mobility decline, and progressive pain. In August 2025, abdominal and hind limb X-rays were performed while Jax was already struggling with worsening weakness and mobility decline. Looking back now, I seriously question whether the underlying tumor process was adequately recognized or escalated at that point. In November 2025, Jax became extremely sick and weak. A lot of the focus appeared directed toward suspected pancreatitis and diabetes management. After seeking a second opinion, another veterinarian documented severe pelvic limb weakness, muscle wasting, neurologic decline, and a large femoral mass. The veterinarian who later performed Jax's euthanasia documented massive tumor-related swelling involving his left pelvic limb and concern for neoplastic disease including possible nerve sheath tumor or sarcoma. What completely haunts me is how Jax died. During his final days, my dog was crying in pain, struggling to move, and suffering in ways I will never forget for the rest of my life. I had to make the devastating decision to euthanize him at home because his condition had progressed so severely that he could no longer walk without suffering. After another veterinarian questioned aspects of the treatment approach and documented the large mass findings, I've requested a refund and tried to get answers regarding how Jax's condition progressed to such a severe state. I never received meaningful clarification from Dr. Dunbar. I have since submitted a Veterinary Medical Board complaint along with supporting medical records, imaging, second-opinion evaluations, and euthanasia documentation for review. Please advocate hard for your pets, request copies of every diagnostic report, and seek second opinions early if something does not feel right.

While I didn't get everyone's names, every staff member I interacted with was so sweet, friendly, and reassuring. It truly gave me a sense of security knowing they genuinely cared and were there to help my cat. Dr. Singh was very helpful, straightforward, and honest throughout the entire visit, which I really appreciated during such a stressful situation. One thing I especially appreciated was how transparent they were with pricing -- they gave quotes for everything, broke down every charge clearly, and provided an itemized receipt at the end. I was met with both good news and bad news, but I'm incredibly grateful that I still got to walk away with my baby. Thank you all so much for your care, compassion, and help during such a difficult time. I would truly recommend this place to anyone needing urgent care for their pet.

Horrible Experience! I wish I could give a 0 or a negative…read morestar review! We brought our 14 years old cat to this "emergency" clinic at 10:20PM. A lady came out not to greet us but told us that they close at 11PM due to new management and this is place is sold to another company. The doctor was seeing the last patient of the day and was referring us to another clinic in Glendora. We told her to please ask the doctor to take a look at our cat. We are willing to pay double the visiting fee. She went in for about 5 minutes and then another gentleman came out and told us the same thing. The clinic was sold and we close at 11PM now, etc. I took out my phone and showed him that it's 10:27PM. He said they wouldn't have enough time to do procedures to our cat. I told him our cat is old and he can't handle that much pressure anymore going to Glendora.. Long story short, this place has last call like some high end restaurant and I'm guessing everyone wants to get off work right at 11PM. Good luck with the "new management last call clinic". Getting off work is their first priority and not saving pets lives!
