We were house sitting in Providence-thought we would give it a shot. I was confident it would be amazing because when we dined-in the attention to detail was very present. I was right! I'm not sure that I have ever ordered take out this good. When you get food delivered, you have to be reasonable and accept that 1. Something might be forgotten and 2. It just won't be the same as eating it then and there. I have to say I did NOT not have to accept either one of these. Every single detail was there and the food was just as hot and fresh as it would be if we were dining in. The pizza- The crust is absolutely delicious ...so thin and crisp in all the right ways. The toppings are strategically placed with perfection. You get all flavors described in every single bite. I have had the Buffalo and Pink vodka... don't know how I'll decide next time! The wings- Get them. It doesn't matter what flavor, I have had four now- all delicious. They are even kind enough to split your order into two flavors! How awesome is that?! Words cannot express the experience I had with hosting a retirement party at The District. I decided to rent the bottom of the restaurant and the owner was more then excited to assist me. She had plenty of staff that was able to serve food to all my guest, bartend and also assist us in anything else we needed. Jenn (the owner) checked in frequently but also allowed us to enjoy our time with family and friends. The food was phenomenal we started off with pizza and wings which went beyond expectations. The main course was chicken Parmesan, salmon, salad, potatoes and meatballs. Everything was phenomenal, our guest frequently commented on how delicious the food was. I for sure will be having them cater future events for me! The other plus was they were helpful during our set up and allowed us to bring in a comedian during that time as well! Wow, what a wonderful addition to the Richmond street restaurant scene! I came here for lunch with my best friend to grab a bite to eat before we headed out on a little road trip. There has been a lot of hype online about this new place called the District and I needed a good spot for lunch, I took the chance and ended up having one of the best lunches I have had in a while. From the ambiance to the service, the cocktails to the menu.... The District knows what's up! We were told to come and have wings and their pizza is good so we will see. Ok food came , wings that the boy ordered he liked them fine. I went to this little brunch spot with my family and I can't recommend it enough! First off, we called last minute to make a reservation and they quickly and easily accommodated us. The waitress was funny, great with the kids, and made sure we had everything we needed and checked up on our large party often but not in a hovering way at all. This is now one of my favorite places to go in Providence! They now have live music on Thursday night. The place can't get packed so it's best to call them reserve a table. The drinks are reasonably priced and very well-made. My favorite is the sweet potato fries. I have followed Jennifer around the city from sidebar to Pearl to Mezzo and now to DISTRICT, her own place! Super classy place, the food is on point. It can get quite busy but the service never slacks. She's got a good team there and you can tell that the employees really respect her and love working for her. It shows in the way they treat their customers. It's a great after show spot and anybody who's anybody in the city will be here on any given Friday or Saturday night. My only Precaution is be careful with the parking. Only park in their lot or the street, any other place will get your car towed. read more

Yes! Went here for my bday dinner because it got the best pizza review from RI food fights 2nd year in a row. ALL of the food we ordered was delicious! The wings are cooked really well and crunchy. We tried the Thai peanut. I recommend those! The tater tots have a special sauce on them that almost reminded me of Big Mac sauce yum. The pizza is cooked really well, not mushy. Food was great - they gave calamari three different ways. We chose the one with the Thai peanut sauce. It was fried and tossed in the sauce. Different and yummy. A little sweeter than expected and perhaps a little heavy on the sauce but really liked it. Went with the penne alla vodka, Undergrad salad with chicken and burger. All delicious. We went here on July 14th. This was the 105 + degree day . We didn't feel like the AC was at all BUT since it was an unusually hot day I can understand to a point. Well South Street definitely got a facelift! The place I spent a majority of my Friday nights for the past few years, has been reopened, renamed and rebranded, and I must say I likeeeee! The ambiance to start is amazing, its modern yet rustic, great light fixtures and open space. The double bars makes for a great flow of people and the service was impeccable. Greeted at the door, welcoming and accommodating, very different vibe from once before. On to the best part, the FOOD. Afraid to miss my go to wing spot I was hesitant to try but I must say they showed up and hit it out the park! I had the dry rub wings, flavorful and well plated. I was introduced to this place last week for a Yelp event, and was so impressed, I had to come back & try more! We were greeted by the same server we had at the event, Mike. He remembered us & made us feel so welcomed. As with the event, service was great & we had a blast with him. We were also greeted by one of the owners who also remembered us from the event, & she made us feel welcomed. We went for brunch & the food was great! They had a Bloody Mary bar, which I enjoyed thoroughly; they had just about everything you would want to customize your drink (except bacon...that would have been perfect). I had the tres leches French toast; holy good God, was that amazing! Hubby had the frittata; he thought it was a bit dry & needed more cheese...a stronger cheese that would have imparted more flavor. My daughter had the chicken & waffles; waffles were amazing, & so was the bacon maple syrup it came with. I do wish they offered a kids menu; it's a little too sophisticated for their palates. The inside is smallish, but not cramped. They have 2 bars, one in each side of the restaurant. Place is clean & has a simple, modern-rustic decor. In a nutshell, go here! Where do I begin? South Street was a big part of our lives, especially the hubby's. But it was also a big part of the beginning of our relationship. When we heard South Street was reopening, we had a lot of feelings about it and one main question (by the hubby of course) "will they bring the SS wings back". I think I really like this vibe!! The music was on point and the decor is very rustic/modern/clean. Love the brick wall and the opening to the kitchen. Now the real reason I'm reviewing this today..... Stopped in Saturday after a work event. To say hi to Justin and have 1 drink. I had a grapefruit something and it was delicious. The hubby stuck to Hibiki. I asked Justin how the food was and he said the pizza was amazing. Now, something you should know about us: There are a handful of people who's opinion on food we take seriously and Justin is one of these people. Amazing pizza and I hadn't had it?! We must order a pizza. As the hubby slipped away to the rest room, I secretly ordered a surprise pizza, because who doesn't want to be surprised by a beautifully perfect pizza?! It was truly amazing! The crust was airy but very crispy. The cheese seemed to be slices of fresh mozzarella and the pepperoni was perfectly crisped. When I say the pizza was amazing, it was truly perfect. Now I had had a few drink prior to this glutinous treat, but I will be sure to return and have this pizza fully sober. Where do I even start? From beginning to end, this was a fantastic experience and with such a new establishment. The staff at the District have it all figured out. The decor is fun, the atmosphere is perfect for either meeting friends for drinks or sitting down for dinner. And the food... one plate was better than the next. I highly recommend the meatball appetizer and any one of their amazing pizzas! They usually have a groupon for $20 for $12 or something close to that which is helpful. I have been there once before and enjoyed it. Today we went for lunch and I got the Turkey wrap and my girlfriend got the DA sandwich which is grilled chicken with brie, apples, and other items with truffle fries. The sandwich was good, the truffle fries were really good. My Turkey wrap was a boring selection admittedly by me and was decent until I took the last bite. There was a thick, hard piece of plastic in the wrap that I had to spit out. I understand things happen when cooking but it could have been much worse. Such a cool spot! It's small and quaint and the ambience is personal. My husband and I went and very much enjoyed their live music, service, truffle fries and cocktails. The only reason I am giving it a 4 star over a 5 is because our sandwiches were dry and lacked some flavor. I ordered their take on a phillysteak sandwich. If it wasn't for the meat being so dry it would of been perfect. My husband ordered their meatball sub and it was just lacking some flavor. Stopped in for brunch this morning after weeks of wanting to try this place out. One of the owners, Jennifer, stopped by to say hello and our server Ashley was great. My wife had the Tre Leche French Toast which was so good she claims it will ruin all other future French Toast for her. I had the Jambalaya Grits, which a re e two of my food lives combined into one brunch meal. The Jambalaya was good, particularly the Shrimp and the Grits were solid (I have grown accustomed to a cheesy grit). I also ordered a side of potatoes which came with both sweet and white potatoes (I am not a fan of sweet potatoes so I need to improve my reading skills since they were clearly mentioned on the menu) which were excellent. Very clean and bathrooms are nice and big and clean! It gets warm due to the half open kitchen concept so keep that in mind! But def a gem! I really hope they stay around awhile. The pizza is thin crust made under a brick oven and full of flavor! The district dip is a spin on artichoke dip and it's really great served with warm garlic bread instead of chips! Soooo goood ! Small place but doesn't feel crammed. Also the parking is decent. Most of the time I've come it's been at night so the meters don't run but during the day you'll have to either use a meter or there is a very close by garage? Parking isn't really a big issue though honestly sometimes we have chosen this place because you can park close and not feel like you have to walk far after your belly is full ! Great spot! Least thing I liked so far on the menu is the tots which is crazy i grew up loving tots but they just were alright- try them loaded up. It's better then just regular tots in my own opinion. Trendy ambiance with dressy vibe when you walk inside, they do have a sign outside with dresses that are not accepted. Certainly not a dive bar. Good food options although mostly standard pub fare. Got the dry rub wings and calamari both of which were pretty good. No drinks list but a full bar is available. Service was average. There's about 7 to 8 beers on tap. Overall good place to stop by for lunch if nearby or if you're coming with a date; probably not the best place to stumble into or to have a casual drink. Prices are in the $$ range. read more

What's my favorite brunch in providence? This place. So many amazing things about this cute little restaurant and I'll try and point them out. First of all; the building is nicely maintained. The decor is very cute and has a rustic (yet sophisticated) aesthetic. It's a bit crowded but that's because others recognize how incredible the food and service is. They have some cool drink choices.. a build you own bloody for $7, and a pour/mix your own mimosa for $20. I thought the bloody mix was decent, could have been a bit spicier, but they had various hot sauces that helped with that. Overall, I think the mimosa is a better deal based on how much alcohol you probably get for the price. For food, my guest and I got the chicken and waffles, and Eggs Benedict. Both were absolutely incredible! Both were so filling. I think the winner was the Eggs Benedict though. It was a Cajun twist on a classic!! The service was superb. Jen, the owner, came and asked us how our meal was and we said we were pleased. We just casually mentioned that we were going to try the French toast next time, and she allowed us to try the French toast as a compliment. That's how quality restaurant owners do it! The food was fine enough but I was really disappointed with my experience at The District. My friend was visiting Providence and we were bummed about another restaurant being closed on Sunday. We still wanted good ol' American fare and we saw all of the positive Yelp reviews, so we thought we'd try out The District. Upon first glance at their draft menu, I was already disappointed. There was really a lack of variety and interesting beers, with only Narrangansett lager and Foolproof Grotto as the local options. I ordered a beer, which tasted sweeter to me than I remembered. I took a look at my pint glass and noticed the rim crusted with an opaque white "glaze" that definitely was not supposed to be there. I was pretty grossed out and let my server know. He responded with: "Oh that's just ice on the glass." After explaining to him that it couldn't be because it tasted sweet, he brought me back a beer with a clean glass and said, "Okay, yeah, I took a look at it under the light in the back and you're right, there is something on your glass." I was confused by his statement because the crusty white stuff was pretty obvious no matter the lighting you were in. I also wasn't aware there was anything that needed to be confirmed. I ordered a burger, which was good, and their fries are always extra delicious and crispy. But, honestly, my appetite was basically ruined after the beer. I originally was going to give an extra star for the food, but actually the dinner was pretty run of the mill and standard. I felt like the prices were a teensy bit high for what you were getting. In the end, what most bothered me wasn't that my glass was dirty or that I tasted something that wasn't beer. It was that my server didn't believe me and didn't bother to do anything to remediate the situation (except bringing me another beer after confirming (twice!!) that I was telling the truth). The vegetarian breakfast sandwich was more successful. Service was very good but I originally tried to make a reservation based on advice from Yelp (BTW, there was no wait for brunch when we went). Their website says to call (ew) or fill out a web form to request a reservation. They don't ever respond to the web form and instead are on OpenTable.
