In the confusing one ways and stops signs of Warren is this cute rustic gem. Stopped by Saturday evening, greeted right away by the hostess and got a corner table with views of the World Cup Match. Started off with some drinks and love me a bit of a spicy marg, good little kick to it. Had the garlic parm wings to start and my girlfriend loved them, fried to perfection a wet based parm vs. dry rub. The turkey burger special by far was THE BEST TURKEY BURGER I've ever had. Perfect portion, seasoned well with some spicy kick and a good crisp bottom as well, I will never forget about that burger. Got the guac on the side to eat with my chips which was a nice touch. Every time someone convinces me to go here I am immediately reminded why I don't. I had heard a while back that the blonde girl with the lack of personality no longer worked here, so I figured things would be better. We came in, was greeted by the hostess, she was very nice. She told us we could go in the back and have drinks and an app while we waited for our table. Great! A waitress came by, took our order for drinks and app. She was very nice and cheery. We hoped to get her as the waitress. So far, so good right? We were sat and our nachos came out just as we just settled in which was good. I was disappointed that expediter didn't bother to get us plates or recognize that we needed them. She left before I could say anything so I had to flag her down for them. She did get them quickly. For some reason, the waitresses were all over the back table of loud girls. It appeared they were showering them with attention going back and forth all different waitresses. The place is incredibly loud, it was tough to have a conversation with my girlfriend while we. We tried several times to make any sort of eye contact with the staff to let them know we needed drinks and failed. Eventually, we stood up, walked over and asked a waitress for some waters. A waitress came to the table and gave us waters and asked if we wanted drinks but let her know we had already put them in. She seemed annoyed by us, even though we didn't do anything other than tell her we already had drinks in and that we may order some other things soon. Nobody ever came by to check on us even though they came every 2 minutes to gab with the back table. My girlfriend and I didn't really like the nachos. She felt the chili was burnt and I thought it was too salty. We were still hungry and going to ask for entrees, but we were so annoyed with feeling neglected that we decided to go elsewhere. I asked for a box for my food and the waitress said she'd be back and went and talked with the other table again for what seemed like an eternity. At that point we just wanted to leave and eat somewhere else. When she came back after a while I was like... Oh! There you are! And she took my payment. I hate not leaving tips, but I was aggravated. We shouldn't have to get up and ask for what we need. This was upsetting. read more

We stopped in today (Saturday) around 12noon and it was a thirty minute wait for a table. They do not take reservations, it is on a first come, first serve basis! They sat us in the lounge area to have a few drinks prior to lunch. Mozzarella sticks and the spinach dip were 15/10. My husband deleted his chicken sandwich within minutes. Deffinitely upgrade to the sweet potato fries- the regular fries weren't good. I saw a handful of reviews on the onion burger and it was alright. My only complaint was there were a few hard pieces in my burger, not the regular gristle that can be in burgers- I'm trying to avoid the dentist! ***On street parking only! read more

Updating my review because Square Peg deserves 5 stars. Since first going over a year ago it has become a regular spot for dinner almost weekly. Their changing specials menu is usually what I order off & have come to really enjoy the fish tacos. The pizza & burger are also pretty good & haven't disappointed. I try to always go to the side raw bar area because I find it's easy to sit at the bar or at the window & get phenomenal service from the bar tender in the area. Although the beer list isn't very long what they do have is usually very good as with the cocktail menu. read more

One of my favorites in the East Bay. The food is always excellent. I ordered a small garden salad. It was huge! A perfect addition to our not so healthy, but delicious mozzarella sticks. I highly recommend the PBR burger. You won't regret it. We sat sidewalk side last night. Braving the potential rain. We made it almost all the way through dinner w/ out a drop. Our server Laura was a trooper braving the showers to help us pack up & led us into the lounge as the storm surge increased. Service was great. Food always good. I will say, it is very loud dining inside, so if loud places are not your thing. I would choose to sit outside which is seasonably available. It's a good thing! Exploring Warren and decided to stop at the Square Peg for lunch. The first thing I noticed is the place was hopping! Always know if the locals eat there it's a great place! The tortilla chips were crisp and fresh and so was the delicious salsa, just the right amount of spice to give it a bit of a kick. I chose the fish tacos. The battered fish was crisp yet flaky, flavorful and cooked perfectly. The tomato and chili lime sauce was really delicious!! I also had an old fashion drink, that was good too. To be honest I was a little disappointed with the lack of vegetarian options. I feel like they had more creative options back in the day. They do have a veggie patty that you can have in place of their burgers, but the waitress told me that they were not made there that they are store bought. When you go out to eat and spend your hard-earned money, you want something that's better quality than a frozen veggie patty you can get from Shaws. My guy enjoyed the chili and chicken quesadilla he ordered. The waitress was very nice and attentive. The atmosphere has a nice, chill vibe. I just wish they had more options for me. read more

Fried pickles, tacos and margaritas here are a must! I love swinging by the Square Peg for some weekend food and drinks. One of the unique aspects of Square Peg that I enjoy is their side room that opens up into the street, where they have a second bar to entertain those waiting to be seated. 45 minute wait times fly by when you can watch some television, play some games, and have a margarita! We have an acquaintance who loves square peg for takeout. After much urging, and contrary to another friends caution not to go, we went for a late lunch on a weekend. When we got there it was significantly past noon, and the place was moderately full. We were told there would be a half hour wait despite many open tables, so we sat at the bar and hoped for the best. We quickly put in a drink order and then our starter and main course order and then the wait began. It wasn't long before the brussel sprouts starter was served, but they were really overcooked and greasy. They seemed like they weren't seasoned at all, and largely depended on the dipping sauce to make them edible. After that it was close to a one hour wait till we got our entrees...just for lunch! While we waited, we had front row seats to the scene at hand. The bartender threw away multiple drinks he had made wrong...I wonder if the owner knows how much of their money he was just pouring straight down the drain. After that, a waitress with a nose ring disgustingly played with her nose ring in between folding napkins for customers. The worst was when three waitresses were loudly complaining about a table of baby boomers who were unhappy about the wait. The waitresses said rude and demeaning remarks about the customers "just wanting free food" and "they said they would post on Facebook about how bad the service was, I bet they don't even know how to use Facebook!" It's one thing to vent, but don't do it on the floor in front of other customers. By this time we had largely lost our appetite, but after an hour our food did arrive. The burger was ok with mediocre fries, and my tacos were heavy and oily with way too much mayonnaise based sauce. The chips on the side were tepid and heavy as well, leaving me feeling a little sick to my stomach. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. I see why our other friend cautioned us against this place and instead offered Tav Vino down the street to go to instead. Those are wise words and ones that I would recommend as well instead of going back to Square Peg. Prices were fine, but service, quality, and customer experience were so low, I truly question how they remain in business. read more

Came here as part of a group of 4 for some good food and drinks! Overall a pretty good experience with some caveats. Drinks were great! They definitely do not skimp on the alcohol and my old fashioned was really good. Not weak, finely mixed, and seemed like it had higher quality house whiskey in it. Their cocktail menu was nicely put together with a lot of unique and tempting options. The food was decent, definitely pub food and prices were reasonable (only $12 for a burger). 2 of us got burgers, 1 a chicken sandwich and 1 tacos. We split a chips and salsa appetizer, I thought the salsa was nicely made except VERY mild if you are more into spicy. The guacamole was good and the chips were awesome! My "peg" burger was good - super messy but tasty and cooked perfect, although nothing amazing. The fries were tiny (cut very short) and seemed a bit bland. Definitely worth the value however. One comment about the food, don't expect anything clean/easy to eat, or high end fine dining. This isn't the place for that. Lots of sandwiches, fried options and comfort food like nachos and tacos. Very casual. What kind of made the night a little disappointing was the service. We had an attentive waitress, but almost a little too much. I think the group of us felt largely rushed which was uncomfortable. Could totally have been a one time fluke though. So bottom line, if you want some good drinks, pub food (especially appetizers) and a warm atmosphere this is definitely a solid place to go! read more
