We had an excellent time at Metacom Kitchen for family dinner on "mystery menu" Monday. Our server (Stephanie, maybe?) deserves an extra special shout out for her care & attention surrounding my dad's mile-long allergy list. Even when she seemed to be on the verge of the weeds, she still meticulously memorized every single thing kitchen needed to know about my dad's dietary restrictions. It was really a joy to dine out & not be on edge. Complex dietary restrictions can be incredibly limiting (we hadn't eaten out as a family in years!) but Stephanie & Metacom Kitchen handled it all with grace. We still got the fine dining, 5-star experience, even with a record-breaking amount of allergies & restrictions at one table. A few other things: - Loud inside - Makes group conversation a bit difficult. - Bar was very slow - Drinks arrived after courses were finished. Could've just been an off night. - Phenomenal duck breast - Maybe one of the best I've ever had. The dill? Excellent touch. - Tasteful music to match the ambience - I heard Hermanos Gutiérrez at one point - Nice. - Delightfully affordable. A true 5/5 stars. Thank you, Metacom Kitchen!

Came in for dinner with a friend who just moved to Warren. The food was AMAZING! I had a mocktail to start which was very tasty and an espresso martini for dessert both were also wonderful. The bartender was sooo friendly and helpful! We sat at the bar and really enjoyed the ambiance! We got there just before 7 and it wasn't very busy but by 730 it was packed! Parking can be tough. There is a small dirt lot across the street. When we were there it was 1/2 flooded.

This was our first visit to Metacom Kitchen. Since we moved to Bristol and we had a very nice dinner. Two of our group had scallops and they were very good. The others had the duck special and they said it was also very good. My meal of squid ink pasta was very good and the pasta was al dente without me requesting it which was a pleasant surprise. Overall a nice experience.

Who loves getting surprised by amazing food for a 3 course meal?? Everyone yep everyone. Go here on mystery Monday and get a 3 course meal for $35 and each course is a surprise! If you go with more people they try to give everyone something different to try so you get to see a lot of the menu! Tell them at first if you don't like something or if you have a allergy and they will look out for you. Amazing food, nothing I didn't like. The bass was seasoned so well and the dessert had pop rocks on it which make it a fun taste.

A dive of a French restaurant tucked away in Warren, Metacom is a surprisingly romantic space right on a busy 136. We've dined their twice and I would definitely describe the food as more fine dining than not - smaller portions, unique preparations. My blade steak came with celery root, for example, which I always love. Metacom does serve a burger but otherwise it is pretty foody. Good for date night. Service is charming.. UPDATE 4/9/20: we enjoyed Metacom's Pasta Kits last weekend and couldn't have been happier. My lamb bolognese was delicious and my wife loved her duck pasta as well. The Bordeaux and the tart for desert rounded out the meal. The kits were incredibly easy to prepare at home - Metacom provided video instructions and written instructions as well. Fresh bread with garlic butter, and it was a decadent backyard date night in trying times. Fantastic!

This place is still amazing. I went for their Mystery Monday promotion (3 courses, $30, the chef surprises you), and it was phenomenal. First off, the bread and butter is as winning as I remember. Whipped salted butter!! But that's beside the point. I told our awesome server, Steve, that I was allergic to almonds and had an aversion to cilantro, but gave them free reign otherwise (we verified that two people could do this and get different mystery dinners...to share and maximize our experience. They confirmed this). First courses: roasted cauliflower with carrot yogurt and a black garlic Worcestershire accent -- perfection. The leek and cheese ravioli with mushrooms in a duck sauce was lick-the-plate worthy. Our mains: hanger steak and rabbit two ways. I'm not a huge meat eater, but I didn't want to deprive my date by asking for vegetarian, so I have little to compare this to, but I ate them both and enjoyed them (shockingly even the rabbit--I heard the word "truffle" and that likely played a role! The sides accents were great and full of flavor). And dessert by any other name would not be as sweet as the desserts they gave us: one with hazelnut ice cream, coconut cream, and textured chocolate pieces, and one with raspberry frozen yogurt with marmalade, chocolate ganache, and crumbled pistachio. Chef Rick is the man. Please go there and be amazed.

When we stumbled upon Metacom kitchen we were surprised by the charming interior, way more upscale and well-conceived than the outside would have suggested. Overall the experience was very positive, from the prompt and courteous service, to the bread made in house, to the refined entrees, and experimental taste combinations. We started with a black ink infused Radiatore pasta topped with shrimp couscous, followed it with pork loin medallions with sunflower seeds and apricot risotto, and finished with a sublime chocolate extravaganza, while accompanying it all with tHe excellent coriander wings. The only reason for 4 stars (vs 5) is that sometimes (the pork cutlets being chief evidence) it seems that the striving for originality can come at the expense of flavor. Overall, a happy discovery.

Wonderful flavors, a strong food focus, and nothing too fussy. I would definitely come back here. Our bartender/server, Steve, was knowledgeable but not pushy, and helped us navigate toward the most memorable dishes. We had the coriander and sea salt chicken wings, which were full of unique flavors and were perfectly seasoned. The duck breast and thigh was excellent, with crispy dick skin and succulent meat that wasn't at all overcooked. This restaurant is one of the funniest in the Providence area. Why not discover this gem for yourself?!

They have a daily menu, and I've had some friends suggest this place as their favorite restaurant. We parked blocks away due to the lack of adequate parking. Once we walked in, we were greeted with pleasant smiles from the staff. The menu was short, which we attributed to a focus on quality. We ordered a French onion dip and a littleneck entree as an app for the table. We were served with lukewarm water, neither cold nor hot. The apostle John might have been somewhat disappointed (Rev 3:16). The dip was decent but was somewhat lacking in great onion flavor. But nothing to complain about. The little necks were served in a small bowl and lacked a bit of salt. Rather pricey for $26, but this place charges $6 just for bread and butter, so maybe it's just inflation? Enter the entrees. They apparently were short on chicken legs so they asked to substitute chicken breast. Two of us got burgers. First the $20 burgers, which were served with an aioli with no offer of ketchup or other condiments. In short, both burgers were terrible. Far worse than we make at home. It's always a disappointment when you realize you're paying all this extra for food you can make better at home. The buns were shockingly flat, like someone smashed them by hand. Or in a McDonald's box. Come to think of it, the flavor was similar, though overall the hamburger was somewhat bitter, salty and lacked an appetizing flavor. Wow. We all agreed they were terrible. The fries were also burnt and over salted. My daughter quit on her $30 chicken, so I tried it. The sauce wasn't bad, and it was served with a decent brocollini. But the chicken was some of the driest I've had in a restaurant, with no crisp skin and a uniformly poor texture. No wonder no one finished their entrees. And I hate wasting food. So, as much as we would have wanted to give this place a great rating, we just won't be back. The service, although with a smile, was slow and terrible. Our candle burnt out in the middle of dinner. It was never relit. Our glasses were empty halfway through dinner. No refills on the tepid water. The entrees took an hour and a half before they came out (we were warned the chicken could take 30 min). Generally a very disappointing experience. Hard to explain the rave reviews but our Saturday dinner was a sad bust. The cold wet madeleines they provided in a doggie bag didn't do anything to help. Oh well. Hope y'all have a better experience if you go here.

Bywater, we will be back!…read more Warren, RI has some great restaurants and I was surprised since I don't frequent this area much. But after this past weekend, I know I want to come back. We were having a lovely dinner in Warren and stopped into Bywater for a quick after-dinner drink. It was a bit cooler out but since they had no seats in the extremely limited bar area, we took the plunge and sat outside near their fire pits. They did not have many wines to choose from BTG which was disappointing. The one I had which was Cinsault was just ok. I had to dump out most of it since I did not enjoy it but that was my fault since sampling it I thought I liked it. My friend had the bartender make her a cocktail with grapefruit since they did not have pineapple. She was looking for a French martini but seemed to enjoy what they made her. My husband's espresso martini was very good I thought and light but could've used some bailey's. We already had dessert so we did not plan on anything else but I know I am interested in returning for dinner. The restaurant is very small inside but I loved the warm lights and decor. It was a very sexy and attractive vibe! If you are ever in Warren I highly recommend coming here for either drinks, dinner, or both. Dress warm if you plan on heading outside to sit near the fire...it does not give off that much heat! Cheers!

We ordered the mini stuffies, the hummus plate, and the fried pickles. The mini stuffies were a highlight. Loaded with Mello's chouriço and packed with flavor, they're a solid little bite. My grandfather set the bar pretty high for me on stuffies, and these came close. They have a different profile than what I grew up with; a little less bready, more chouriço forward, and the clam flavor takes a back seat. Not necessarily a complaint, they were just different from what I'm used to and were genuinely tasty. The lemon aioli on top was also a nice touch. The fried pickles were exactly what you want them to be. Crispy, well fried, and the breading actually stayed put while you ate them, which is more than I can say for a lot of fried pickles. They came with the same lemon aioli as the stuffies, which worked just as well here. The hummus plate was a bit of a letdown. We've had it many times before and it used to be a standout. This time the hummus itself was thick and pretty flavorless, more like a dense chickpea paste than anything else. The accompaniments were nice though and consisted of heirloom carrots, cucumbers, olives, cherry tomatoes, asparagus, pickled cauliflower, carrot, and a pepperoncini, all served alongside some buttery round crackers that were like a Ritz cracker's more refined cousin. The veggies saved the plate, but the hummus needs to find its way back. I suppose it could have just been an off batch and won't prevent us from trying it again. Cocktails were great, as usual. I had the Anana with scotch. I love pineapple and this has muddled pineapple and basil, pineapple juice, cracked black pepper. It's my go-to here and it delivered again. My partner went adventurous and ordered the Jungle Booby, which is built around tequila blanco and mezcal with campari, pineapple, grapefruit, lime, orgeat, and an absinthe spritz. The flavors were genuinely good, but the smokiness from the mezcal was a bit much for her taste. She followed it up with a glass of rosé and had no complaints after that. The cocktail wasn't the problem, it just wasn't her style. One of our favorite spots in Warren for a quick nibble, for a good reason.
