My dining companion & I met some out-of-town friends here for dinner, as it was halfway between where they were staying in Middletown & where we live in Northern RI. The menu & reviews looked promising. I'm glad we had reservations, as they were packed on a Saturday night. I was pleased that we were seated within 5 minutes. I was also pleased that their huge booth fit 4 of us comfortably & they were happy to add a chair at the end for our 5th guest. A basket of warm rolls was immediately placed on our table. The large menu had something for everyone in every price range. We started with drinks, all of which were good. My companion & I shared a bottle of Clean Slate Riesling ($33) which we enjoyed. She & I both ordered the baked sea scallop special, which came with 2 dinner sides for $24.99. The scallops were delicious but I would have been happier if my baked potato & steamed broccoli had been cooked just a few minutes longer. They were edible, just not quite as soft as I prefer. Our friends enjoyed their meals... citrus swordfish (also one of the specials), French onion soup & salad, and a chicken salad sandwich. My companion & I shared a piece of lemon meringue pie for dessert, which was good. It wasn't as big a serving as at some restaurants, but it was enough. I have no idea of the cost as prices are not listed on the dessert menu, a practice I dislike. I also didn't like the fact that I asked for a fork as I don't like eating cake or pie with a spoon & was told I couldn't have one as they were all needed. Our friends enjoyed their peanut butter pie & coconut cake. Our server was adequate. We had to chase her down to ask for water, lemon, etc. I understand she was very busy but a smile would have been nice. I do appreciate the fact that we were not rushed out, and we were allowed plenty of time to catch up with our friends. Also, the hostess was gracious enough to take a photo of our group as we were leaving the restaurant. This restaurant used to be the Country Inn on Market Street in Warren. They have a decent sized parking lot, although it seemed barely sufficient for the amount of volume they do. I would rate this restaurant a 3.5 if I had that option. Will I return? Probably not. read more

I had the tuna steak special (not special at all a complete What a disappointment and not inexpensive. It was not appetizing looking light pink it looked like the type that comes in a vacuumed sealed plastic (IT HAD TO HAVE BEEN FROZEN!) it had no flavor it was tough and dry. The asparagus was burnt on the ends and the 4 small potatoes were BORING. The server offered a replacement. I was not expecting much no matter what I ordered. She could only recommend the chic parm and spaghetti. It was lousy not spices not an onion or piece of garlic in it. read more

First time ever for this restaurant, even in its former life. Passed by many time before and the parking lot was always full. We finally stopped by for lunch after an appointment in Barrington and we weren't disappointed (and the parklng lot was still full!) Staff are pleasant (Ellie our server was great - great personality!) We started with Clam Chowder (husband's fave) and i had Apple Butternut Soup - delish. Our mains were Grilled Swordfish for him and Chicken & Waffles for me. Portions were plentiful. The restaurant itself is modern with plenty of seating. Menu has something for everyone. read more

Had another great meal, got the salmon and shrimp with broccoli and rice pilaf. So good. Kale soup my favorite. The pop-stickers very tasty. Mom and aunt got somewhat the same but different sides. They stated they enjoyed. Service was great very friendly and attentive. The place still has that country inn feel. read more

The wait was long(ish) but it was worth it. (I'd recommend a reservation though!!) Food was delicious and the servings were plentiful. I got the chicken and waffles which was enough for dinner and lunch the next day-- the waffles were SO GOOD (some of the best I've had) and the sweet potato fries were delicious. My friends got burgers which they loved. The tables are big and spaced out and comfortable. Ambiance is good and somewhere in between classy and casual. Totally recommend! read more

My husband and I came here recently for dinner. I was in the mood for a lobster roll, and being gluten intolerant, I was happy to see that they offered gluten free breads and buns on their menu! Plus, I saw good reviews, so I figured it was worth a try. My husband and I both ordered lobster rolls and spicy margaritas. The lobster rolls were $30, and while we got an okay amount of meat, it tasted unseasoned and bland, and we both expected more from it. The margaritas were $15, and I ordered mine with pineapple. It was just pineapple syrup, and unflavored. It wasn't bad, but it was just okay. Both food and drinks just didn't seem to have much effort put into them, and lacked flavor. Our overall experience from the food and the service was just okay. Not bad, not good, but mediocre. The restaurant itself seemed clean, and they had a lot of regulars who clearly loved the place, but we just were expecting more. read more

Ellie was such a sweetie and was very patient through my family's many needs!! XL margs were yummy and desserts were great.

The Palmer River Grille is on my way home from work and I go there a lot when I am not in the mood to cook. The staff is great very friendly and the service is great. Most of the time I sit at the bar and it's full of nice people and they also have an area with a fireplace which is nice. The menu has quite a bit to choose from and the food is always good with nice sized portions. read more

I've been here a few times and always have enjoyed the food and cocktails. My best friend really likes this spot, so I always get a gift card for her family to use as part of her Christmas gift. I ran in on Christmas Eve for one and they had me in and out so fast. The service here is always wonderful. It made my life less stressful and i so appreciate that! read more

Came for lunch on a very busy Sunday. Our server in the lounge was doing double duty as a bartender and was extremely friendly, funny, polite and professional. My aunt and I started with calamari which was cooked very nicely and flavorful. We both got steak tips a la mama. I found the steak to be cooked nice and with great flavor. It was served on a bed of a very large portion of potatoes, peppers, and onions with lots of paprika. Very Portuguese style. It was also served with some steamed spinach which had very generous garlic. While super tasty, I would had preferred a bit less garlic and oil on the dish. I definitely didn't dislike the dish but would get something else next time. We had grape nut pudding for dessert and was SO good. It was not overly sweet and seemed just right with the balance of custard and grape nuts. It was delicious and an extremely generous portion. The menu was really expansive and diverse. A really great assortment of seafood, meat, chicken dishes, pastas, sandwiches. Truly something for anyone here. They also had not 1 but 2 pages of specials with everything ranging from steak tips, to clam boil, to lasagna. This is a great stop for groups due to the sheer array of options to pick from. The decor inside is very modern and spacious and nicely done. I honestly had not been here since it was a prior establishment and while it has the same "bones" of the old place, they also opened it up and modernized it. Look forward to coming back here sometime again. read more

Service is excellent! Food - expensive and disappointing. I have been to this restaurant a few times celebrating different occasions. I went today again - disappointed again. I had a side salad. Just lettuce - tons of croutons - one slice of cucumber and a pepper. Ten dollars. I had an open face turkey sandwich - slice of white bread. One slice of turkey and lots of stuffing - mashed potatoes with way too much gravy, and I specifically asked for little gravy. 18 dollars. I left most of it there. read more

We have been a few times since moving to the East Bay. It has such a perfect ambience for Sunday dinners, family dinners, or just a nice date for my husband and eye. Very pleasant ambiance, meticulous service and attention from all staff. I would recommend a reservation! Now, for the food...excellent! Seafood, pasta, tender chicken. I could not find fault with anything we experienced with each visit. We even took my elderly father who was quite impressed. Coming from a lifetime living in Cranston, I would say that the Palmer Grille is better than Twin Oaks! read more

I was definitely impressed after coming here for dinner a little while back. Previously it was a really good Italian restaurant called the Countryside restaurant which closed abruptly several years ago. It has much of the same layout as the previous restaurant had. It's mainly American cuisine with some Portuguese food and Italian food selections. The food was very good and reasonably priced. Staff was attentive and courteous. We all agreed we would come back, and I recommend it as well. read more

Food is always excellent. The service is always great. I've never had a bad meal there.

The bar side is awful when you have a bartender who is loud and irate your whole visit in. Witnessed bartender slandering and speaking disrespectfully to staff. I found it very rude and unprofessional. Her name is Jessica. read more

Food prep is sub par. Dry, skimpy, raw, Even take out is done half ass. Beets not double wrapped. Juice enters main meal's container. Your meal tasted like pickled beets. I complained, but they don't care. Place is going downhill and my money is to important to me when I go out to eat. I want quality. Not getting it here. Do not recommend read more

Had never been on our radar until a long time Warren friend said "one of his favorites". A huge place with lots of parking. Assume "new" or recently updated. Huge menu. We started with some cocktails - well priced at about $10. Split the "RIN style" calamari - well done. Entrees were the beef stroganoff (a daily special) and the stuffed shrimp with 2 sides. Both good and good sized portions. Good staffing. Recommended. Damages were $100 read more

Had Fish and chips tonight. The fish was dark brown, which means that they used old oil to fry the fish. It was absolutely terrible. Not my first time eating here either and not my first time being disappointed. It was very packed tonight at the bar. I was seated at a table. There were only two people on doing the best that they can. They should've had another person on to help them. I don't go so much as for the food, but I go for seeing my friends. The fish and chips were little to be desired. Actually gave me an upset stomach. read more

A comfortable family bar and grill specializing in local seafood and the proverbial "steaks and chops." Whether you're in a hi-top, booth or table the service is crisp and attentive. Interestingly, the bar area has couches and chairs that allows the Boomer/Gen X crowd to move their sweet nothings to a setting more conducive to conversation which BTW, could be had in the restaurant area without screaming or courting strep throat. My New England Clam Chowder was terrific and thick as a Narraganset fog accompanied by a Reuben that was Rubenesque in heft and prepared to perfection. Palmer River Grille is an easy five stars. read more

The atmosphere is nice, however the food is extremely lacking. I ordered the portabello melt, it was flavorless and weird with warm avocado on it. It was crispy and tasted like chemicals. I also ordered a cookie lava for dessert. It was stale and had no lava. The person I was with ordered a burger which they said was tasteless and messy. I wouldn't recommend. I hope they improve as the atmosphere is nice, and it could have potential. read more

It is a family style restaurant with big portions! The waiters and waitresses are all very friendly and the inside of the restaurant is clean and well kept. The crab cakes were made with REAL crabmeat and they give generous portions which is almost unheard of! Definitely recommend this place! read more

What a great meal tonight for Christmas Eve! There were 11 of us, and although we had a reservation, we were at 2 tables. Paige and Zach took very good care of us, and even had other tables. Calamari for an appetizer was very good, and arrived quickly, as did the drinks. We all had an assortment of entrees, from prime rib, pastas, and fish as well as some of their specials. We were able to order off the regular menu as well. One of our party received the wrong pasta dish, and they brought out the right one very soon after. She even got a dessert for the error! They even took care of my nephew who ordered his meal and received it immediately since he got called into work soon after arriving at the restaurant. It was a great experience at the Palmer River Grille on Christmas Eve. read more

I really enjoyed our entrees we had the chicken parm and the buffalo chicken Alfredo meal (it had a name I just forgot it ) We were seated near the register/ area where they put in the orders, and it seemed to be that the employees thought the wall was soundproof even with the open door area, we were hearing alot of their conversations right there. Sounded like everyone was having a good time and enjoys their job though! We also ordered two cocktails which were pretty mediocre but maybe the bartender on duty just wasn't the best. Overall I would absolutely come back and try something else but I don't think I'd order a drink here again. read more

Was driving by and stopped for lunch. Sat at the bar, had a wormtown ipa, tasty. Ordered the Reuben. It was delicious, many places make them so sloppy that you cannot pick them up. The fries are battered and very crispy. While watching the bartender, I wouldn't order a martini here, their glasses are not chilled and she doesn't fill them with ice before she mixed the drink. She'll learn someday. All in all, a fine quick lunch. read more
