Big tavern style sports bar. Friendly staff. Delicious food. 10 of us dropped in on a Saturday night. Olympics on all over the TVs. Drinks, Apps, and Dinners all came out quickly, without error. Jack was amazing. Took all the orders without ever writing anything down and made no mistakes! Great spot, would go again in a minute.

This may very well be my new favorite spot in south county! Super friendly staff, loads of parking, weekly specials like half price apps and $6 cosmos on Monday. Can't wait to go back! A lively bar area as well as a quiet diningroom. Brussel sprouts were super yummy!

We went for a burger on our way home from the beach area. Started with the buffalo cauliflower. It was ok. Nothing to write home about. We've had better but we've also had worse. I did love the blue cheese crumbles with it so it wasn't just liquid. We both got the southwest burgers. Could've used more guac on the burger and seasoning on the meat, but it was good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back there. But I would also probably look for a different place to eat being in the area as well.

Went to the Back 40 on a Saturday Afternoon. Good place for a Burger and a Beer. I must say the Burger was tasty, the service was good. There where 3 of us and we were all satisfied. Prices are moderate, one thing to consider is it can be very LOUD, so if you are looking for quiet, this is NOT your place. The Burger was so good, I will definitely go back! I'll give it a 4.3 for the TASTY BURGER!

When you walk in to an establishment and it has a smell like a 30 year old Applebees I should've turned around. I went to back 40 when they 1st opened and loved it, the ambiance, the food, the service. I moved away and decided to try it again as I always love their pulled pork nachos! What a disappointment the nachos had no cheese and the pulled pork was dry, the cheese sauce used to be so good but it tasted like jar cheese whiz. The server looked like she was on something very aloof and stand offish. The shepards pie was tasteless and all potato, and the tater tots were awful. Sorry back 40 but you've been downgraded to 2 stars, I will not be back

    Mac and cheese

Ordered take out, boneless chicken bites were very dry with very little sauce, ranch was warm and was not good - would not recommend. Mac and cheese was very creamy, really good.

Second visit. Love the ambiance. Comfy bar seating. Hooks under the bar for your bag are always welcome! Staff are lovely. This time we ordered sandwiches off their seasonally changing Fall menu: chicken sandwich and salmon burger. It took way too long for the food to arrive for the half dozen guests currently in the restaurant, only a few of which were waiting on food. Maybe the kitchen guy is working alone? The chicken was very crispy. The spicy sauce was tasty, but more would have been welcome. The side of fries were warm at best. First taste of the salmon burger was that the salmon had gone bad. The marinated onions have a strong vinegar flavor. My upgraded Ceaser salad wasn't mixed well with the dressing so some of it was a clump of dressing while another was no dressing at all. Didn't eat most of this meal. I still like the ambiance and would like to return, but I'm not sure I'd order food here again. Maybe an app? My top shelf vodka soda was ten and a half. Draft beer was six.

Boneless buffalo chicken tenders and short rib nachos.

Stopped for lunch on Sunday, service a bit slow to start but once started was very attentive. There were four of us had some delicious cocktails and short rib nachos and boneless buffalo chicken tenders both were delicious and more than plentiful. Planned on ordering sandwiches but after the apps we were all stuffed. Had to wait a bit for the server to come back and also to get our check but overall good place.

The smoked pork noodles was heavy and had a high level of spice in part of the dish, would recommend to mix it well to evenly distribute. Hotline Pizza started in 2020 taking orders exclusively through Instagram. No storefront, no sign,…read moreno walk-ins. You either knew, or you didn't. You got through in the first minute, or you weren't having any pizza. That kind of operation either collapses in six weeks or builds a following that argues about it on the internet for years. Hotline got the second outcome. They eventually opened on 211 Broadway in Providence, then shifted to 80 Frenchtown Road inside the Thirsty Beaver North Kingstown. On National Detroit Pizza Day, the RI: The Pizza State community held a meetup there. Hotline built a pizza specifically for the occasion -- the OG Detroit, one night only, not on the regular menu, not available any other way. Cup and char pepperoni, Wisconsin brick cheese, red striped in two lines across the top, Parmesan dusted over everything. You had to be in that room. The Thirsty Beaver is a lively sports bar, string lights, cold drinks, TVs running. Then the pizza arrived, and a room full of people who think seriously about this stuff went quiet for a moment. The edges tell you everything first. Detroit-style cheese goes all the way to the pan walls, where it caramelizes against the sides. That's not a side effect of the style, it's the whole point. The border (frico) on this is nearly black, crunchy, savory. The kind of thing you fight over. Wisconsin brick cheese is mild, buttery, and high-fat, and when it hits those hot pan walls it stops being cheese and becomes a dark, crunchy crust of its own. It also carries a sweet, tangy flavor that mozzarella doesn't have. The Parmesan on top added a second layer of salt and a different taste. Together they built a flavor profile that the average pizza doesn't usually offer. The cup and char roni was doing its job. Natural casing pepperoni cups and chars in the heat, crisping at the edges and trapping oil in the bowl of each piece. That pooled fat bleeds back into the cheese when you bite down. It's a little indecent. Nobody complains though. Then there's the dough. Hold a piece up to the light, and someone at the table did, because that's the kind of group this is, and you see a honeycomb structure, open and airy, like good focaccia pulled upward. The dough runs at 80% hydration or higher and is double-proofed, which creates an open, porous interior with a crackling exterior. The crust tastes buttery without any actual butter in the dough. That's what happens when someone knows what they're doing. Greg definitely knows what he's doing. The sauce was bright and herby, laid on top in stripes after the cheese. Sauce on top means the crust stays dry and the cheese anchors to the rim all the way to the last bite. It also cooks the sauce a little bit, renders it down slightly. It had enough acid and herb to cut through all that fat without flattening the taste out. The OG Detroit was a one-night pizza. It's not coming back in that form. But Hotline is at the Thirsty Beaver Thursday through Sunday, running 12 Detroit-style options, and if the OG is the standard they're working from, you should go find out what the rest of the menu tastes like. Some pizzas are worth building a night around. This one had 80 people nodding at each other in a sports bar in North Kingstown, smirking and reaching for another piece before the first one was finished all night long.

Before going, I noticed several reviews mentioning that the food lacked flavor. After eating here, I'd have to agree. We started with the Strawberry Burrata appetizer. The burrata itself was good, but the strawberries tasted like they came from a can or pie filling instead of being fresh. It's the middle of summer, so that was disappointing. The focaccia served with it was fresh, but completely unseasoned and bland. A little olive oil, herbs, or flaky salt would have made a huge difference. For our entrees, we ordered the pasta special with chicken, peppers, and "broccolini" in a garlic sauce, along with the short rib grilled cheese and garlic Parmesan chips. First, the dish didn't contain broccolini--it was regular broccoli. That's not a huge deal, but the menu should be accurate. The penne was undercooked, the red peppers tasted like they came from a can, and the broccoli seemed straight from a frozen bag. The entire dish arrived tasting like it had been reheated in a microwave rather than cooked to order. There were only a couple of other tables in the restaurant, and they had only been open for about an hour, so that was surprising. On top of that, the dish was very bland. The short rib grilled cheese was actually the highlight of the meal. The short rib was tender and flavorful, and the sandwich had a lot of potential. However, the plain focaccia made it a little dry, and it really could have used some type of sauce or spread to bring everything together. The garlic Parmesan chips were stale, bland, and also seemed pre-made. To top it off, the menu clearly advertises that kids eat free all day on Mondays, yet we were charged $8 each for our kids' penne with red sauce. This restaurant has the potential to be really good. The ingredients and menu ideas are there, but the execution falls short. Fresher ingredients, cooking food to order, more seasoning, and a little more creativity would make a world of difference.

I had the gluten free mac and cheese with grilled buffalo chicken and it was so good I had to dig in before even taking a photo. The flavors were spot on and the pasta was cooked perfectly.
