We've been here twice and the first time was because our sons middle school had a fundraiser here so of course, we had to support it! Amazing service and delicious food! The bread was sooooo delicious it tasted homemade! We were sat on the left side and it was perfect because it was quiet and peaceful! Highly recommend you stop by this hidden restaurant in NK and try out anything!

Outdoor deck
Kerri L.

This spacious restaurant boasts large interior rooms and a newly built expansive outdoor covered deck with a large bar. This RI staple is known for its wide selection of pub food and decadent mouthwatering desserts. Sorely lacking though are gluten free options. I ordered strawberry avocado salad, and they accommodated my request for romaine lettuce in lieu of mixed greens. The avocado was the perfect texture and color- no brown spots which I appreciated. My son ordered a burger and fries. He said it was a run of the mill tasting burger. Our server was pleasant. She listened attentively to our orders but didn't clear the dirty dishes from the table. Ordinarily, that's not a huge deal but today there were bees on the deck so my empty pickle dish attracted them. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'll definitely be back. I just wish they offered gluten free desserts.

Mouse poo

I've been in the food business just shy of 30 years now, FYI. I've seen my share of dirty, sloppy places with poor pest control. I can spot mouse $hit a mile away... Wednesday night my family went to Gregg's in NK for a quick dinner. What we saw that night really ruined our appetites... it took 10-15 minutes for them to "find me" a White Claw in their basement only to have a mouse right on top. By the time they cracked it and it arrived, the water soluble poop already started to break down due to the carbonation. They told me that 3 different employees handled my beverage prior to me receiving it, and nobody saw this... In addition we were seated 70' from the nearest bar and we were literally swarmed with gnats/fruit flies. They built this outdoor patio then proceeded to neglect every single thing INSIDE the building. Look at those walls I gave the ownership and management an opportunity to fix this. The owner called me the following day and said I could come take a look at their pest control log and I agreed that I wanted to meet him in person very soon. He said he is 99% sure this is NOT mouse droppings. After him offering me a gift card to dine again in his establishment, I said no thanks, I said I was all set as my family no longer would eat there. After he heard this and that I didn't want a gift card, he promptly said "okay Paul, have a good day" and he hung up on me. Be very leary of eating at this place. Just saying.

Random what it should look like.

Their old Hollywood cake was probably the best cake I have ever had. I am absolutely obsessed. All of their desserts are fabulous.

We made a new friend before we even walked in the door, which says a lot about the vibe here. There was live music playing, and we wanted to enjoy it while still being able to chat, so we were given a great little corner spot at the bar. Mallory greeted us warmly and gave thoughtful recommendations after I asked a few questions about food intolerances. I really appreciated that. We started with the tostada nachos, which were very tasty and spicy. Then my beau enjoyed the fish and chips and a stuffie and I had the steak frites with parmesan truffle fries. Everything was flavorful and well prepared. We also enjoyed a few cocktails. The blueberry cucumber mule was delicious and I will absolutely be back for another. I made sure to save room for a liquid dessert and ended the night with the hazelnut espresso martini. It did not disappoint. Thank you for a really nice night out. We will be back soon.

I got the Big Ol' Burger and it was so good. Cooked perfectly, the special sauce was delicious and as you can probably tell from the photo, the fries were exactly what I was looking for. We didn't get any adult beverages but I was very tempted by the entire drink menu, so next time! Our service was also outstanding. Really everything was A+. Once I ordered my soda I took in the ambiance of the bar, new lights, and the rest of the restaurant. It's not a large building but they make every inch count. Now, the reason you're reading this review- THE FOOD. I ordered the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich with a Caesar Salad. The chicken (photo below) was perfectly cooked, topped with hot honey, slaw, pickles, and ranch then placed on a soft brioche bun. The meal was reasonably priced as well at $33 which included tip. I will absolutely be back to the Shanty next time I'm in town.

Yes, there is a bar, BUT it is also a treasured North Kingstown breakfast spot. We arrived on Saturday morning--not crazy busy, but busy enough that having only one server and the owner working at around 10 a.m. did not bode well. That concern quickly faded once we placed our orders. The owner was gracious and helpful and did a good job managing the pace. Our party of three ordered the French Toast TX style -- from a very finicky member of our party making specific customizations -- all accommodated with a smile, a Crow's Nest Benny, and, for me, Tres Quesadilla. Hands down, this was the best presentation of a breakfast quesadilla I have ever ordered. Why? Just look at the accompanying picture. The tortillas were cut into smaller, easier-to-handle, triangular pieces. Tortillas can be messy to eat. The salt potato home fries are probably one of the Top 5 I've ever had in my life. No, really. Very subjective, yes, but if you like your home fries crispy on the outside and not soggy on the inside, flavorful--then you might agree. There are high-top tables and regular tables inside -- plenty of light streaming through the place. You can even have breakfast at the bar. There's also outside seating. The foyer with the living-room-style seating is charming and cozy. I've already been thinking about going back for drinks and sitting in this area. If you don't mind a little drive for brunch and want to try something far from the madding crowd of Providence, this would be it.

Hotline Pizza started in 2020 taking orders exclusively through Instagram. No storefront, no sign,…read moreno walk-ins. You either knew, or you didn't. You got through in the first minute, or you weren't having any pizza. That kind of operation either collapses in six weeks or builds a following that argues about it on the internet for years. Hotline got the second outcome. They eventually opened on 211 Broadway in Providence, then shifted to 80 Frenchtown Road inside the Thirsty Beaver North Kingstown. On National Detroit Pizza Day, the RI: The Pizza State community held a meetup there. Hotline built a pizza specifically for the occasion -- the OG Detroit, one night only, not on the regular menu, not available any other way. Cup and char pepperoni, Wisconsin brick cheese, red striped in two lines across the top, Parmesan dusted over everything. You had to be in that room. The Thirsty Beaver is a lively sports bar, string lights, cold drinks, TVs running. Then the pizza arrived, and a room full of people who think seriously about this stuff went quiet for a moment. The edges tell you everything first. Detroit-style cheese goes all the way to the pan walls, where it caramelizes against the sides. That's not a side effect of the style, it's the whole point. The border (frico) on this is nearly black, crunchy, savory. The kind of thing you fight over. Wisconsin brick cheese is mild, buttery, and high-fat, and when it hits those hot pan walls it stops being cheese and becomes a dark, crunchy crust of its own. It also carries a sweet, tangy flavor that mozzarella doesn't have. The Parmesan on top added a second layer of salt and a different taste. Together they built a flavor profile that the average pizza doesn't usually offer. The cup and char roni was doing its job. Natural casing pepperoni cups and chars in the heat, crisping at the edges and trapping oil in the bowl of each piece. That pooled fat bleeds back into the cheese when you bite down. It's a little indecent. Nobody complains though. Then there's the dough. Hold a piece up to the light, and someone at the table did, because that's the kind of group this is, and you see a honeycomb structure, open and airy, like good focaccia pulled upward. The dough runs at 80% hydration or higher and is double-proofed, which creates an open, porous interior with a crackling exterior. The crust tastes buttery without any actual butter in the dough. That's what happens when someone knows what they're doing. Greg definitely knows what he's doing. The sauce was bright and herby, laid on top in stripes after the cheese. Sauce on top means the crust stays dry and the cheese anchors to the rim all the way to the last bite. It also cooks the sauce a little bit, renders it down slightly. It had enough acid and herb to cut through all that fat without flattening the taste out. The OG Detroit was a one-night pizza. It's not coming back in that form. But Hotline is at the Thirsty Beaver Thursday through Sunday, running 12 Detroit-style options, and if the OG is the standard they're working from, you should go find out what the rest of the menu tastes like. Some pizzas are worth building a night around. This one had 80 people nodding at each other in a sports bar in North Kingstown, smirking and reaching for another piece before the first one was finished all night long.

I had one regular espresso martini and two caramel espresso martinis, all excellent. The music selection throughout the night was fantastic, and the overall atmosphere was genuinely enjoyable. Between the drinks, music, and relaxed setting, I was having a great time and thoroughly enjoying the experience. Unfortunately, that pleasant atmosphere came crashing down rather quickly. My friend and I noticed several mice running around the restaurant. Not exactly something you want to see while enjoying a night out. The place was practically empty, with only four customers and the bartender present. Apparently, the mice figured they had free rein of the establishment. I understand restaurants occasionally deal with pests, but seeing MULTIPLE mice casually running around raises some serious questions about cleanliness. If they're this comfortable in the dining area, what exactly is happening in the kitchen? Needless to say, I'm incredibly glad I didn't order any food. Great martinis, excellent music, wonderful atmosphere, and apparently a thriving rodent community. Shame the mice had to ruin an otherwise fantastic evening.
