    Breakfast Sammie
    Bre B.

We've been to Jiggers so we figured since we were in the area we'd try Jiggers south (now Karie's kitchen). For me the highlight was my virgin Bloody Mary. It was HUGE!! Delicious, flavorful, spiced but not overly so. A meal in itself. My friend had a burrito Sammie which looked good. I didn't try it. The grits were soft and creamy but lacked flavor, they were very bland. The bacon cheddar waffle which was really good. Also very bland though. The home fries were hard and overcooked/rubbery. I'd definitely return for another Bloody Mary.

Bloody Mary can you tell the original from virgin?

It's not named jigger's anyone, same owner just name change(Karie's) I feel there is a story there. The food was good but the Bloody Mary was amazing. They have virgin options ( my friend had that option). I had breakfast burritos so good. Egg,bacon, cheese on a waffle sandwich my friend said was good. The place was cool. Had a great vibe with in and outside eating areas. The service is great and friendly. Will be back.

The food and service was excellent. Our waitress also had a great sense of humor. Everyone was very busy, but was still kind enough to make coffee to go while we waited for a table outside. I highly recommend the Bloody Mary once you get a table!

Talk about hidden gem of NK! Came here to try it out and was so happy that I came! A variety of delicious options and I will be coming back with my family! I had the banana bread French toast and it's a chocolate lovers dream! The coffee and orange juice were both delicious! Bought some muffins to go so I'll see how they taste but they're so beautiful . Everyone is very welcoming, especially Carrie, and so ready to help even during lunch rush hour! They're not opened on tuesdays just so that you can plan your visit!

This restaurant is now called Karie's Kitchen. WOW WOW WOW! This was an amazing brunch! The blood Mary was loaded and spot on! The lobster Benedict was perfectly seasoned and fresh! The steak bomb Benedict was seasoned perfectly and delicious. It was busy, but the service was fast. Great covered patio and nicely shaded. We will be going back for a second time before heading home.

Stopped in for Sunday brunch about 10 AM. Got out about 12:10. Definitely NOT worth the wait for unremarkable eggs, bacon and toast. Here is our story: There was a 45 minute wait, which seems to be normal for most places around here. We got our table at about 11. The waiter set us up with coffees, came back and took our orders. All good. There are only about 10 tables here, 6 on the deck, maybe 3 inside. I counted 4 servers. After about 30 minutes I started noticing things. There were two empty tables and it took about 10 minutes to fill them. There was no food coming out. Not a single table had food and none was coming out. I decided I'd write this review while I waited as we were now pretty annoyed, especially when our server told another table they didn't have enough waitstaff. What? 4 servers for 10 tables? I drank my coffee, waited, waited some more. After about 20 minutes I walked up to the counter and asked for another cup. After another 20 minutes (40 minutes from when we sat down) food did start to come out...just not ours. Somehow we got shuffled back in the queue. Another 5 minutes and our food finally came out. The breakfasts were nothing to write home about, nothing special. Just eggs, bacon and toast. Certainly not something to spend 2 hours to get.

We were out again for a random weekend drive, this time down to Newport and back. As has recently become our habit, we stopped for lunch on the way home. Coming up route 1A through North Kingstown, we saw a big sign saying nothing but "Restaurant" so I hit the brakes. What we found was Karie's Kitchen (formerly Jiggers South). This quaint little farm-to-table eatery is a hidden gem. Emma, our server from Idaho by way of Michigan was pleasant and engaging. She explained the owner Karie's culinary philosophy of locally sourced Rhode Island ingredients supporting fellow small businesses in the Ocean State. I had one of the lunch specials: Cup of Chowder with the Fish 'n Chips plate. This decision was in no small part due to Emma's description of the lightly fresh Haddock. Dad's choice was cemented when he learned that breakfast was served all day. Lunch was delicious. The chowder was creamy with the right mix of clams and potatoes. The haddock was indeed quite lightly breaded allowing the flavor of the fish to come through. If I had to find some criticism I would say the tartar sauce was a bit heavy on the mayo and light on the pickles. On the way out, we actually found the "Karie's Kitchen" sign. Karie -- You need a better sign! But thanks for the great lunch!

Great neighborhood spot near Wickford (North Kingstown). Cute outdoor space and beautiful enclosed patio seating. The staff was so friendly and offered us samples of their homemade muffins. The menu was updated and we tried the breakfast burrito, stuffed French toast, and waffle sandwich. Everything was delicious and we can't wait to go back soon!

What an awesome find while staying in Newport RI. We wanted some place outside of the touristy area of Newport where you didn't have to pay for parking. This place was about 20min away in a small quiet town of North Kingston. The service was so friendly, everyone was friendly and the food just amazing. We plan to go back before we head home, it's that good. The portions are more than enough and we didn't have to wait long. The lobster bene was so so good. My family enjoyed their meals as well. We were all very happily pleased. It's open only for breakfast and lunch and breakfast is all day. The venue was different but charming. I totally recommend this place.

I kicked things off with a Cove Punch, a magical mix of a couple different kinds of rum and fruit juices... so basically a healthy smoothie, right? It was absolutely delicious and exactly what was needed on a hot day! For appetizers, we ordered the Calamari Balsamic and the Watermelon Feta Salad. Dang... both were incredible! The calamari was cooked perfectly, and the watermelon feta salad was something I'd never had before. Sweet, savory, refreshing... both are absolute must-orders. Next up was a cup of the New England Clam Chowder. You can't go wrong with a classic, and this one didn't disappoint. For lunch, I went with the Wickford Lobster Roll... WOW! Served warm with melted butter, the only correct way to eat a lobster roll in my book. It was packed with lobster, buttery, and absolutely delicious. If you visit, this is a must-have! Others at our table ordered the Fish Tacos and a Hamburger, and everyone cleaned their plates. That's always a good sign. The service was outstanding, friendly, attentive, and always there when we needed something without ever feeling rushed. If you're arriving by boat or just looking for a fantastic waterfront lunch, put this place on your list. Great food, great drinks, great service... what more could you ask for? Cheers!

Wickford on the Water has a prime spot with water views from their deck and side windows. In summer this place if full most days due to it's location. Recently we stopped in for lunch. The street side of the building is a dining room, while the water side is a bar area with bar seating and high top tables. Single men's and women's rooms are in the hallway connecting the two spaces. Wait to be seated by the hostess. On our visit, the hostess sent us down the hall to 'see Angelo' in the bar as the dining room was full. Angelo let us pick a table and brought menus. We placed our drink order and spent a good deal of time looking over the menu. Angelo was patient and gave us plenty of time to decide. Their website has options for ordering pick-up or delivery through door dash where you can view those menu options, but not 'just the menu' as a stand alone page to preview. It was a sunny, cold day and I decided on the short rib shepherds pie and a side salad. The salad arrived first. It was very lightly dressed with fresh lettuce and brittle croutons. The shepherds pie arrived in a casserole, hot from the oven with cheese melted over the potatoes. My first bite was potatoes. They were tasty enough with the melted cheese on top. No need for salt or other seasonings. My second bite had a mere hint of meat in an oily sauce under all those potatoes. After eating a quarter of the dish and finding very little short rib, I began to move the potato out of the way to access the meat. This revealed an inconsistent, thin film of meat at the bottom of the bowl. I do love potatoes, and these were tasty, however, for that price, I expect more protein. The restaurant was quiet during our visit. They have a nice mix of relaxing, current music playing in the background. The restaurant and restroom were clean. Deck dining and bar, in warmer weather, is a nice option and the menu offers a variety of food choices from apps to entrees. Staff are competent. Parking is on-street and in the local public lot nearby.

Our most recent visit on Saturday was disappointing due to several service issues. We had a reservation for four people and were told by the hostess that our table was occupied by guests who had just received their entrées, so we were welcome to grab a drink at the bar while we waited. No problem...however, after waiting about 40 minutes, we checked back in only to discover the hostess had confused us with another party that happened to have the same name. She asked if our party of eight had arrived, and that's when we realized there had been a mix up. While mistakes happen, it would have been appreciated if someone had checked in with us sooner so the issue could have been resolved sooner rather than later. Once seated, the food was excellent as always. The service continued to feel a bit off tho. Our server was pleasant, but could have checked on our table more frequently. When we were ready to leave and asked for the check, it took quite a while for him to return and collect our payment. When guests ask for the check, it's usually a sign they're ready to head out, and a quicker check in would have been appreciated. By the end of the meal, we had spent over two hours at the restaurant, much of it waiting, and ended up needing to rush to our next destination. What was most disappointing was that nobody acknowledged the reservation mix up or offered any sort of apology for the inconvenience. We still enjoy JB's because of the location, views, and food are great. This visit, however, highlighted some service issues that if addressed, would make the overall experience much better.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the fact that most everyone was appropriately dressed for a tea time experience. The big highlights for me were desserts and scone. The scones were warm and not at all dry. My only critique was that the chicken salad sandwich had far too much bread, could barely taste any of the filling. Desserts for the day were a Salted caramel bon bon, Strawberry frosted Donut macaron, and Lemon cheesecake petit four. Everything tasted excellent (except the lacking chicken salad sandwich) and was well prepared. I thought the experience was well worth the money, definitely recommend. We came to celebrate my birthday, so they lit a candle for us which was cute and appreciated! The menu is posted online in advance, so you know what you're getting. I enjoy eating many different things in small bite-sized portions and I thought all of the food tasted good. The portion is a full meal, albeit it's mostly carbs and sugar. That would be my one critique--it's a bit too sweet and there weren't enough savories. Price-wise, it was $50 per person. I really like that the price is inclusive of taxes, service, and tips. The photos show food at $100 for two people. It was filling, but a very sugary filling. The decor is cute, but some details could have been better. For example, the tea cake tower is black and modern-looking and honestly, not cute or matching. Some light piano music softly playing in the background would have been nice. The customer service is fine. We did street parking and while we came at a rather odd time, we still got a bit of traffic due to construction. Overall, I really enjoyed tea time at Sweet Marie's and would consider coming here again for a special occasion!
