I recently moved to the area and decided to give West Passage Brewing a try on a busy Saturday night. The place was packed, which is always a good sign. Our server was excellent. She was friendly, engaging and patient with all of my questions. She even checked with the chef on a few things to accommodate my food allergies, which I truly appreciated. I didn't catch her name at the time, but my receipt says Carrie Ann - thank you for such great service! I had a delicious cocktail (even though the beer menu looked great too). The food is classic pub-style with a lot of fried options. My burger was really good and came on a nice gluten-free roll and my side salad was also fresh and tasty. Overall, I loved the theme and decor and had a great first experience. I'll definitely be back.

Been here a couple times and always pleased with the beer and service for sure. It's also really nice to have a brewery that also serves food open up at 11am! The layout and bar is also really nice!

Great atmosphere. The location is beautiful. TV's to watch some sports. Great beer variety and full bar as well! Service was great. Friendly and attentive. Food was great. Nachos for an appetizer were delicious. Beer flight has a great variety to choose from. Burger and "RI red" chicken sandwich were great. Fries were hot and fresh. Overall would absolutely recommend on all fronts!

Stopped in after a soccer game right up the road due to their convenient location. Facility was beautiful, bright and clean. We were promptly greeted and told we could sit anywhere since it was fairly quiet. Had a couple beers to start and they were on point for a place like this. The clam digger stout was my personal favorite as I'm pretty picky about my IPAs/hazies. It was nice to see a beer menu with some variety. Food was decent enough to complement the beer. I had the French dip. Beef was a little dry but had a nice au jus to reconstitute it. Wife had the nachos which were average and daughter had a chicken Caesar salad that was nice and crisp. Staff were friendly and attentive which made for an enjoyable experience!!

I had a pleasant evening with two beers, a plate of fried pickle and some wifi to finish off the day. The staff probably thought it was odd that I wanted to sit in a quiet space but hey, that's me. They opened up a second dining room and I enjoyed the peace and quiet with my laptop. The beers? Delicious. The fried pickles? Tasty but I'd suggest smaller pieces. The staff? Friendly! Definitely a worthy spot! Parking can be a challenge on a busy weeknight. I lucked out with what could have been the last open spot in the lot. Other folks were circling for a while. I was a bit hesitant to choose West Passage for a get-together with friends last night when I found out they didn't take reservations. Having 10 adults and 2 children at 6:30pm was a gamble, but they accommodated us right away. Food: We loved everything (pics posted), but the Gould Island Cheese Steak is a must-try. Drinks: The only complaint I have is the Scotch selection, they don't carry the typical ones like Macallan or Dewers. Balvenie was available, but you may prefer Jameson or one of their bourbons instead. Seating: There are high top tables and regular tables in the dining area, as well as a spacious bar and a ladies and men's room near the entrance. For functions, there is also a room to the right when entering. Service: Becca, our server, provided excellent service. I found her to be extremely attentive and friendly. Having frequented Gillians for years, it was sad to know this staple of North Kingstown was no longer there, but West Passage Brewery has renovated this establishment serving great food and excellent service for us. We look forward to making new memories there in the future.

Peanut Butter Whiskey steak burger with fries.

Be patient, but the beer and food are definitely worth it. We arrived just after 6 p.m. on a Saturday night (without a reservation) and the rooms were packed. We grabbed a high-top table in the smaller room and took a look at the beer and food menu on our phones as we waited to be served. The wait staff were clearly short-handed but the owner was extremely helpful and friendly. It was our first time at West Passage, so I wanted to try a flight of the darker beers so I had Full Keel Brown Ale, Accidental Red Lager, Deliberate Porter, and Clam Digger's Stout. All were very good. For dinner, we enjoyed the nachos as an appetizer and then burgers and fries. I tried out the Peanut Butter Whiskey steak burger and ended up taking half of it home because it was so filling. The peanut butter whiskey glaze might sound a little weird but paired with a raspberry sauce, onions, candied bacon, along with cheddar cheese and lettuce - it was delish! My only negative was that it took a long time for our drink order to be taken and for the food to arrive. But, as I said the wait was worth it.

It's the old Gillian's! and looks nothing like how it did. I only went once and it was dark with old decor. Actually, a dive bar at that. This place has a lot of light and modern decor. They accept reservation for large groups. Scott answered our call, was super friendly and easily made our reservation. FYI- they have been open for 6 months. We get to West passage and were seated immediately. We actually had our own room with a large TV showing college football. There were 7 of us. Scott came to say hi and low and behold he is the owner! Chatted it up with us then invited us to tour the brew area. Heck yeah we followed him. He broke every step down in the brew process. This guy is thorough and passionate. The brewery is immaculately clean! Really impressed. I shared food so I got to try a few things. Here is my pecking order of what I had in order of favorite: 1. Peanut butter whiskey burger-raspberry on a burger? No I am not going to like it... or I am! yes I am! It was the perfect balance of raspberry to all the other flavors happening here and it was delicious! 2. The med- This fig pizza is made like any other regular pizza where fig is spread like red sauce, with the fixing under the cheese and it was loaded with goodness. Maybe a little too much greens on top but loved the excessive nature of this pizza. 3. Chipotle BBQ wings- Decent flavor, plenty of sauce just wish the sauce was cooked into it a little more. 4. Tri-tip street tacos- lacked a bit of flavor. But their nachos served with them were super salty and crispy. Are these house made? Either way they were good. I ordered a girly drink. It was on the menu as a coconut/pineapple margarita but I swapped tequila for rum. Good size. Great flavor and first time I had ever had a coconut rimmed glass. Coconut was everywhere! Everyone else had beer. The reviews were good beer but can taste that it was fresh brewed. Need a little more age. I wish this brewery well and I plan to make a return. Best wishes Scott!

West Passage is clearly dedicating its efforts to brewing as it has some tasty beers. The food is mid and overpriced for the quality.

It was too chilly today to sit outside but the outdoor seating area and new mural look like a fun place to hang out with the water view right there (chairs don't look too comfy though, eek). The taproom has funky decor with local business stickers, horror movie memorabilia, mini toy machines, arcade games, and comfy bar stool chairs and armchairs. It's bigger in here than I imagined it would be. I got the Toasted Coconut Porter (love that it has a toasted note, you don't see that a lot). The first few sips were yummy but then it had a medicinal / syrupy note to it after that which I wasn't crazy about. The music is fun - heavy alt/indie/rock/emo vibes and ties in to the overall vibe of the decor and branding, I could see it being offputting to some if that's not your taste and you got a particularly heavy/screamy song, so head's up there. I like the vibe and want to hang out here again, so I'd try it again, although the types of beer they make aren't especially my favorites. Amazing location and will be fantastic to hang out once it's warmer!

Look for a small peaked roof entrance. If you enter this way, you will walk down a long hallway to the brewery entrance. Public restrooms are off this hallway. They are very clean. There are two rooms inside. A bar is located in the first room. Both rooms have a TV and seating. If you choose to drive around the end of the building, park by the beer garden entrance. There are porta johns located here (no smell, but I didn't check them out) for guest use if you choose not to go inside. A band sets up at this end of the garden, the bar is at the opposite end. Follow the business SM page for info on bands and food truck info. The beer garden is covered by sun sails, has some Adirondack seats, fire pits, heaters, picnic tables and a TV. Plus a small flower garden area running along the fence. Train tracks run just beyond the fence. At the time of our visit there were about nine beers on tap, plus a couple of canned/bottled libations. Prices are a bit higher than your local watering hole, but this is local craft brew and the beers are well crafted. They offer a few snacks, and the occassional on-site food truck, but no food service. This is a nice, chill spot to meet up. Call for info on watching your team.

The three things I look for in a brewery are an inviting (dog friendly) outdoor space, accessibility to some good food, and (of course) some quality beers. Tower Hill is two for three - I really can't comment on the food aspect, but they do link available BYO options that will deliver to the brewery. We just didn't order anything. The bartender was excellent - friendly and helpful and knowledgable on the beers offered. His opinions of the beers in the flight I tried matched my own. He definitely added to the overall experience. They're situated in a business plaza and their outdoor area is a row of parking stalls that they walled off and set up picnic tables, comfortable chairs, and corn hole with some outdoor carpeting that made the aesthetic a bit more inviting. They also have quite a few events on their calendar including trivia nights and live music which is what pushed them into the five-star range for me. I had to think about this rating since I live about and 8-hour drive from them, but next time we visit New England, I intend to try to convince Mama to make South Kingstown a waypoint so we can try the food options, enjoy the entertainment, and be able to more thoroughly enjoy the beer offerings without having to think about making a long drive afterwards. So yeah, if it ends up being an hour out of our way, I'll still try to convince her to add Tower Hill to the itinerary! My rating scale: 1 - Just don't 2 - You'll survive, but there are better choices close by 3 - Good choice if you're in the area 4 - I'd drive 30 minutes out of my way just to come here 5 - I'd try to convince my wife to drive an hour just to come here

The birthday boy enjoyed his free birthday beer (one of the many perks of celebrating at Tower Hill), while I opted for a flight featuring Boss Light, New Zealand Pilsner, Black Point & a refreshing passionfruit hard seltzer. It was a great way to sample a variety of styles & I enjoyed all of them. As if great beer was not enough, we were treated to live entertainment by a traditional pickin' & grinnin' acoustic jam band. Calling it a band hardly does it justice - there were at least 20 musicians! Guitars, banjos, fiddles, mandolins... the room was filled with incredible talent & toe-tapping tunes. It felt less like watching a performance & more like being part of an old-fashioned musical gathering. Between the delicious brews, the lively music & the festive birthday vibes, it was the perfect way to cap off the evening. We will definitely be back for another pint & hopefully another jam session! Highly recommend. NOM NOM NOM... well, in this case, SIP SIP SIP #YUM

These didn't seem available this time, so I ordered their Untapped-award-winning Peanut Butter & Jelly Sour - WHOAAAA! So delicious, and smelled and tasted exactly like the name, not a watered down faint whisper of peanut butter as many similar drinks have. I could see it being a little too sweet if you had more than two of these, but I loved it and wouldn't shut up about it, leading multiple friends to order one. This was unique and a must try, well worth its awards. My friend ordered a Bacon Maple beer that also smelled exactly like its name, but as a vegetarian I declined a sip since I wasn't sure if it had any real bacon in it. It was slammed and busy here, but our wait time at the bar wasn't too bad considering. The beertenders were pretty quick and friendly. Someone was throwing a birthday party and had a band playing, yet they were still open to the public. The acoustics in here are a little bizarre and echo-ey, so the band was unbearably loud. Luckily there were picnic tables and high top tables outside and it wasn't too chilly, so we headed out there. They brought out a few heat lamps which helped my friends that weren't dressed for the weather, and added a nice cozy atmosphere without any bonfire smoke smell. This would be a great area to hang for the fall! They had a food truck available which is always a great feature (Kroffle Kreations - I will review separately soon). There is a small parking lot that's been full every time I've come, but since it's in a far out industrial park area of town, people park on the sides of the road with seemingly no issues. Great little spot and very creative beers, with lots of events hosted! I'm looking forward to branching out into some of their other and darker styles of beer in the future.
