Came here recently for their luau and pineapple beer. Love a good theme! They had the place nicely decorated, a tasty BBQ food truck and steel drum music. There's indoor and outdoor seating and this place has a nicer vibe than a lot of breweries with more attention paid to decor and aesthetics. The outdoor patio seating is super nice. However, outdoor tables were not available when we arrived so we sat inside. Great service at the bar. Easy lot parking. I come here usually after hiking in the area. read more

Tilted Barn is a farm brewery that opened in Exeter, RI in 2014. It was originally in an old barn but moved into a newly built New England style post and beam barn in 2020. The barn and overall location is gorgeous. There's a bar, tasting room, mezzanine, small shop, and brew house in the back. There were a good amount of parking when we got there. It was packed though so I'm not sure if there are any surplus parking elsewhere. We went in March so it was a little chilly. We explored the outside which had plenty of seating and I'm sure a lovely spot in the warmer months. The beers were very good. I'm a fan of sours and they had a few on tap. A food truck came by also. We hosted our baby shower in their upstairs space and it was absolutely perfect! I didn't get a chance to thank the brewery personally but wow! They were just amazing. We had about 40 people and everyone fit and anyone who needed to overflow to the beautiful outdoor space or downstairs was totally happy doing so. First time here. I went there for a meet up with a group of people. The outdoor space was scenic and very relaxing. Live music on Sunday. Picturesque. Backdrop of a forest in the fall colors was just amazing. It is a self-service beer counter and bring your craft brews beer to the outside or sit inside the big barn. Very little in terms of food selection but can get some take out to bring with you for al fresco dining. We saw a food truck there for sandwiches and such. I am not sure if the food truck is there everyday or not. read more

I absolutely love this brewery. Not only is the vibe perfect, the employees, beer and atmosphere cannot be replicated! I come here fairly regularly, but I do love summer & fall at the barn the best. There's nothing better than taking in a crisp beer while watching the sun set here. The employees could not be kinder or more knowledgeable about beer. They always have wonderful options for food trucks. Their event space in the loft makes for excellent parties, the only downside is there aren't really any options for non beer drinkers, but even people I have brought that don't enjoy drinking beer would agree the place is still great to hangout at. read more

We were lucky to enjoy this brewery on a beautiful, sunny day so we got to enjoy the ample outdoor area. In addition to the great view outside, the interior of the brewery is quite a sight itself. The barn theme is evident throughout and the lighting from the skylights gives the inside a bright feeling. The beer was awesome with styles ranging from NZ Pilsners to barn lagers to juicy double IPAs. The bar tenders were attentive and the line for ordering was fast moving and organized. Been going to the barn since around 2015 where you'd anxiously await the week's latest drop and happily wait in line to get your allotment. They've come a long way from those days and not always for the better. The newer taproom is well designed and amalgamates modern building with old school barn charm. They have many available draft beers inside and even an outdoor rail with about 6 taps. I went there recently to try a specific wet-hopped beer (it is harvest season after all) and tried to get it at the outdoor pour station but alas it was only available inside. Once inside an obnoxiously loud beer tender was yelling about how there is "no line outside" and that they have "everything out there that they have in here." He seemed pretty mad when nobody left the line to go outside and I was a little put off since I knew that they definitely did NOT have everything available outside. It was fairly busy as it was a really nice day so I grabbed a couple pours and headed upstairs since it was the only area with seats available. I grabbed the last table and when my son asked me for the wifi password I couldn't find it on the tap list menus at each table but remembered it was written downstairs on the draft board. I sent my well behaved, seasoned brewery veteran son downstairs to get the password. While in my line of sight the entire time, not running or disturbing anyone he was harshly spoken to by a staff member since he was unaccompanied. Little did they know I was watching it all go down. This is not the first time I have had staff speak abrasively to me or my family but it will definitely be the last. I was once yelled at for taking pics of the bright tanks/brewing area because I wasn't "seated" up in the balcony. The beers are ok, 90% hazy brews. I can see why as most of their farmhouses, lagers, stouts, sours aren't that good. They do brew a decent DDH DIPA, but it's pretty much available at most RI stores now. The scenery is excellent, complete with hop vines and farm animals. Unfortunately, the vibe is just off. These places are usually casual and laid back but this one is controlling and semi-hostile at times. I can only imagine the ignorant people and attitudes that the staff have to deal with each day to make them so angry about me taking pics or my son entering a password into a phone without having a parent hold his hand. They should probably take an extra 30 seconds to assess each individual before assuming we are ALL like those ignorant types. read more

Please note, this is for service only. Well, the beer here is quite tasty, the service at the barn is very spotty, and sometimes just horrendous. For example, tonight, I drove up to purchase a four pack to go. There are no signs nor doorman to say that the store was closed that evening. I even checked the social media to see as they had just posted about an upcoming event next week. I went in and waited in line, only to be told 'oh, this is a private event and we are not selling beer tonight to people'. Again, no signs anywhere nothing on the door - nothing in the parking lot. I've run into similar situations with other events where there is little to no notification despite their website showing other events and then creating social media posts. If they're going to close the entire place, maybe let someone know via social media since you seem very active on it, or just put a sign up. Ridiculous. read more

Tilted Barn Brewery is a craft farmhouse brewery that opened in Exeter, Rhode Island in November 2014. It was founded by husband and wife Matt & Kara Richardson. The farm on which the brewery sits was originally owned by Kara's grandparents. Purchased in the 1950s, farming was never intended to be her family's primary source of income but rather a hobby. Throughout the years, the family ran a metal and woodworking shop and also raised animals and grew and sold Christmas trees. Fast forward to 2007, Matt and Joel Littlefield (Kara's brother) established 'Ocean State Hops' on the farm. They were the state's first commercial hop farm and supplied other breweries and homebrewers with their hops. Eventually the Richardsons had the idea to open their own brewery on the farm. They purchased the property from Kara's grandparents and converted the century old 'tilted barn' and attached horse stables into their production area and taproom. Not only were they Rhode Island's first farmhouse brewery, but they also opened when the state's craft beer scene was very small. The brewery was so successful that it quickly outgrew its location. A brand new 8,400-square-foot barn was built and opened on the property in November 2020. I recently visited Tilted Barn Brewery while I was cycling some of the excellent bike trails in the Providence area. I had explored Rhode Island's craft beer scene as early as 2014, but was never terribly impressed. Recently I heard that their scene had improved immensely and one name that kept coming up was "Tilted Barn". After visiting Long Live Beerworks in Providence (which I was very impressed with), I stopped at Tilted Barn on my way home. The grounds were just gorgeous! Not only was the barn very impressive with plenty of seating and a 1,800-square-foot mezzanine, but there was also plenty of outdoor patio seating with an outdoor bar and fire pits. Although the brewery doesn't offer traditional beer flights, they do offer short pours. The draught menu featured a variety of styles but many of them were my favorite: hazy New England-style IPAs! I sampled short pours of "Cactus", "The Other One", "The Chosen One" and "Maho Bay". Every single beer was superb! Along with Long Live Beerworks, Tilted Barn has shown me that Rhode Island's craft beer scene is turning into a craft beer paradise! I can't wait to make a return visit! read more

Alright, man, listen up! So we roll up to this joint after a super late lunch, 'cause according to UnTappd, they were supposed to open at noon. But guess what? The hours listed were all wrong, man! We get there around 3:15pm, but turns out they don't open until 4pm. Bummer, dude! So we're just hangin' around, waitin' like forever, man, but finally, they swing those doors open. And let me tell ya, the atmosphere is outta sight! It's like a huge barn-lookin' building with some nice, cool air conditioning inside. On the outside, they got tables with umbrellas and these chill Adirondack chairs everywhere. And get this, dude, it overlooks a meadow where all these vendors are set up for the weekly farmers market. There's even a BBQ and a chowder food truck, but I didn't get to try 'em out, man. Now, the staff, they're super nice and friendly. They're like the cool cats of the joint, spreadin' good vibes all around. So here's the beer situation, man. If you're gettin' your brews at the outside bar, they come in 16oz glasses, and they only have certain ones available. But if you head inside, they got a larger selection at the inside bar, and they serve 'em up in 6oz, 10oz, and 16oz glasses. So, you can totally go for smaller beers if you wanna try a bunch of 'em, you know? Like a brew-sampling adventure! And let's talk about the beers themselves, man. They range from very good to excellent. These guys really know their game! It's like they're playin' the beer symphony, hittin' all the right notes. I wish this joint was closer to home, seriously. I'd be there all the time, like a bee to honey! So, if you're lookin' for an awesome spot with killer vibes, great brews, and a cool farmers market scene, this place is callin' your name, my friend. It has been about 5 years since my original review. In that time my estimation of this place has dropped a bit. Why? They specialize in, and do one type of beer quite well; hazy IPAs. If you like hazy, heavy IPAs, there are several beers here that you'll enjoy. However, they are all relatively the same, with almost no distinctions between them. Also, in the past 5 or so years, my tastes have changed. I'm tired of hazy 'dank' (it's so dank, bro) IPA/DIPA/DDHIPA/TIPA...you get the point. There are better breweries in Rhode Island, with better variety and better beer. The general atmosphere at TBB is something of a mix between farm and daycare. I like that Proclamation set limits on when kids are allowed, and I'd like to see more places follow. This brewery has changed significantly. It used to be a place where you could talk to the brewer and owners, and now they seem to just be a production line pushing volume as fast as possible. read more

Beautiful barn theme brewery. I didn't expect any less than breweries in New England. The barn theme is really cool, a huge space to sit and enjoy the weather. The beers were pretty good. Some were a little too bitter for me, but they had good flavors and depths. I like their hazies. There's no food trucks except an $8 hot dog guy. Hey, when you want food you gotta just have it. We bought one! Lol. Tip: NO DOGS ALLOWED. The dogs running around their farm are their farm dogs. They are very strict on this rule. Leave little Fido at home. I know, I'm sad too because I love bringing my dogs to breweries, but I respect their wishes. read more

We came here for the first time this weekend. I downloaded the RI Passport Brewery app, which you should definitely do if you're a beer drinker. It lists all of the breweries in Rhode Island, so I've decided to try them all starting here. It's a large space shockingly located...in a barn! They're open sparse hours, only 12-8 on the weekend. We came at 5 and it was packed, and the people whose table we took said they had come at 2 and it had also been packed then. The barn features two levels, a full downstairs and a small balcony area where you can overlook the brewing facility. There is a large patio outside. As soon as that opens for the spring/summer, this will be and ideal spot to meet with friends and grab a beer. I ordered the Lawn Boy, a pale lager that tastes akin to a Miller Lite or similar beer. It was very smooth and drinkable, and for me, I like when a brewery has more than IPA's. They offer cans to go as well, so you can bring home some of your favorite beers for later. I will definitely be going back as soon as the weather gets warmer. read more

How have I never reviewed tilted ? We go there often so I'm surprised. This is a well known local brewery here with a huge following. They are a farm and started brewing beer. It started off with the tap room being in the barn but they Have since expanded into a two floor beautiful Building. When it's nice out there is a ton of space outside to bring a basket of food. If kids are your jam there is ample place for them to sprawl out and play. It's a very family friendly spot. They usually Have a food truck but your welcome to bring food in. They have a lot of iPas for all you hopheads out there. They generally have a stout and sour on also. The can artwork is beautiful to look and and a lot of them are named after their children and pets. Tilted barn is a great spot to hang out and grab a delicious craft beer. Spent a few hours there with friends and counted about 12 different children ranging from 4 or 5 years old to 14 or 15 years old running around screaming and playing and being kids. What a great little find! I read an article about the best IPA's in each state and the hubby and I had CT and MA covered already and we were going for a day trip to RI and put this on our itinerary! The Tilted Barn's "The Chosen One" was our goal. It was super cold out so while we did make a point to walk through the whole facility, it was SUPER packed! There's a queue to get the beer counter and there were lots of friendly, attentive and busy beer barista's (haha is that a thing?) There's beautiful space outside, lots of spots to sit and an open field. If you're not a fan of kids at a brewery, skip this one. On this cold day there were really nice fire bowls outside with a nice guy making sure they were full of wood and toasty warm. As for the beer my personal favorites of the day were the Boreal (I was disappointed they didn't have any cans of this the day we were there so check the website), and Black Jack. Confused. Are you a family friendly brewery, or not? Tonight was a record warm October evening with our friends and our kids. Amongst many others, our 10 and 13 year olds were playing on the field; they were unkindly spoken to for simply having a good time. They were NOT engaging in unsafe behavior, however, a staff person dressed as a witch appeared to be anxiously ready to wrap up for the night said that tossing the football was unsafe. It was a confusing message because we thought TB was family friendly. Not only were we disappointed by the staff's actions, the food truck sold out by 5pm.
