They usually have different food trucks outside each week, which is fun if you're in the mood to try something new. There's also a small food menu inside, though it's a bit limited if you're just looking for snacks. The cashier who took our orders was friendly, the space was clean, and it wasn't too crowded, which made the experience even better. I'd definitely come back again!

Moniker Brewery is a craft brewery that opened in Providence, Rhode Island in January 2021. It was…read morefounded by business partners Bryan Benedict, Jeff Goodno, Ben Estes, Ted Pease and Jean Lombard. Benedict left a career in IT in order to turn his craft beer hobby into a full time job. He worked as a sales rep and brand manager for a wholesaler before becoming the director of marketing and sales at Connecticut-based Beer'd Brewing Company. He dreamed of opening his own brewery, so he partnered with Goodno, who had 15+ years of experience working for breweries such as Taproot, Victory Brewing, and SOME Brewing. Estes, who had formerly worked at Proclamation Ale Company and the Guild, was hired as the head brewer. Pease and Lombard, who had experience with tax laws and other skills, were the last partners to come on board. They set up shop in a former auto body. Benedict chose the name "Moniker" to strip away the focus on brand egos and instead focus entirely on the taproom experience, the community, and the beer. The brewery became notable for their wide repertoire of beer styles, even earning praise from Hop Culture Magazine. In May 2026, Moniker purchased Ravenous Brewing in Cumberland with plans to rebrand it as "Moniker North". I recently visited Moniker Brewery while I was passing through Providence. They had been on my list for a while. The place was small and cozy but inviting with a decent amount of indoor seating. There is also patio seating outside, but it was a little too wet and chilly on the day of my visit. I pulled up a seat at the bar and looked over the draught menu. There was a nice eclectic mix of styles. I ordered a sampler flight which included "L.H. Czech Dark" (Tmavé), "Midnight Rodeo" (Dark Mexican Lager), "Blinded by Nostalgia" (IPA), "Stay Cool Drink Moniker" (Hazy Pale Ale), and "It's Called Sightseeing" (Bourbon Barrel-Aged Tripel). The latter was my favorite! Between the eclectic mix of styles and the friendly space, I really enjoyed my visit to Moniker. I look forward to when they open their new larger space.

There's also a menu of snacks, flatbreads, and sandwiches if you're feeling hungry. Situated right on the water in Fox Point, you can grab a table with a view of the river, sit right at the bar, or find a spot near one of the TVs to catch a game. Pro tip: On the first Thursday of every month, they have a First Thursday punch card where you can collect stamps and save them up for prizes! They do have a parking lot, which is awesome, but it fills up very fast and parking in the area can be tough once the lot is full. The service is always friendly and attentive, they have really helped me make selections when I wasn't sure what to order in terms of beer. They usually let you try something if you're not sure if you're going to like it before you order which I appreciate because I can be very picky. I typically get a flight when I'm there because I like to try the different beers and I really love their Pilsner probably most of all. They do a good job with IPAs and their pumpkin beer is good, not too sweet, which is what I prefer. I think they excel the most at German style beer. I appreciate that they typically have a variety of beer as well as hard seltzers and also wine so that I can bring most friends even if they don't like beer. They also sell craft soda for those who don't drink alcohol. So there's usually something for everyone. I can't really speak on the food because I don't typically order food when I'm there, but it always smells good. Additionally, they have been known to participate in fundraisers for nonprofits and that is always an A+ in my book.

It's definitely one of the better brewery locations in the area. Now let's talk about the beer. Is it good? Yes. Is it great? Not really. I've had several of their beers and while they're all pretty solid, nothing has really blown me away. My favorite is the Juggernaut Double NEIPA. That's my GO TO when I'm here and probably the beer I'd recommend trying first. Overall, Apponaug is worth checking out. The beers are decent, but the location is what really makes this place stand out. Would I go out of my way just for the beer? Probably not. Would I come back to have a few beers along the river on a nice afternoon? Absolutely.

Reyes Liquors has an appropriate selection of booze given the neighborhood…read more By appropriate, and suspending judgment (to each their own), here's a sample list of the very wide variety of selection and quality you can find here: Foolproof, Colt 45 malt liquor, Shipyard, Arbor Mist, Peak Organic, Sutter Home White Zinfandel, Moët & Chandon Rose Imperial, Casillero del Diablo, Jäger (ok fine. I judge the Jäger). I personally think you'll get a really bad hangover from a lot of the options here (esp. the wine), but the craft beer selection is surprisingly good and I love the mix-a-six. What I don't like about this place is that sometimes the pricing seems out of whack with alternatives, the price labeling can be better (there's been times I'd have to wait in line to get the register to scan an item to understand cost), and the parking situation can be a major cluster with patrons haphazardly blocking the road and private lot (common sense people, TRIPLE parking on the street and sidewalk and/or blocking the lot entrance in your car is rude!). I like Reyes Liquors just fine, I just wouldn't feel compelled to make a special visit if I wasn't already in the neighborhood.
