Great little store. Good selection of beers (esp. Mexican style). Open all the time, friendly staff, occasional zany customers.

Great place! Used to swear by the place on Atwells, but these people are just as great and have way better prices!

My friend knows much more about wine than I do, so he was the decision maker for our wine choices and we ordered a 1/2 bottle of red which we both found to be very delicious. Of course, we had to try some food too and the small bites menu was perfect with something to satisfy nearly every taste. We opted for the meat charcuterie, and it was beautifully presented with enough for the two of us to share. There is also a cheese charcuterie on the menu, but unfortunately there is not an option for a combined meat and cheese plate. We sat, sipped, and tasted for a while and never felt rushed. The atmosphere was so comfortable and we'll definitely consider going back here again.

I didn't have the best time at Providence Wine Bar…read more This might sound a little haughty, but hear me out: I can drink wine at home. I can browse a liquor store & pick out a bottle that exactly fits my preferences, my mood, & my budget. I can bring it home & uncork the wine, checking the cork for freshness. I can pull out my special glassware & pour myself a glass of wine & enjoy it on my own couch. So why go out to a wine bar, if not for the wine? For me, it's for the ambience & the experience. Both of those things at Providence Wine Bar were lacking. The lights were too bright (overhead & fluorescent) & the music was too loud (& just bad). The employees seemed both bored & nervous, with not much to do to occupy themselves. I was one of the only people in the bar, so I felt like I was under scrutiny - I'm certain this wasn't intentional but it was unfortunately how it came across. I brought a book but couldn't focus because of the lights & the music. I even caught myself with my fingers in my ears, trying to muffle the sounds of 2010s hyper pop. I have nothing against 2010s hyperpop, it's just that there's a time & place for everything, & maybe that isn't at a wine bar at 8 PM on a Wednesday. I just wanted to be done with my glass of wine so that I could leave. All of that being said, I wish them the best. It seems like they need a good manager's touch.

I had a few items already in mind so it didn't take long for them to locate them for me. When asked about some very specific New York style Gin, they immediately told me that that was something they didn't carry but would be willing to source if I were to call ahead before visiting again. I really appreciated that offer and may take them up on that next time since Providence is still a much closer drive than upstate New York. I guess what really fascinated me about this place more than the wines stocked on the shelves was the fact that this used to be a purveyor/architect's office/storage where they stored their blueprints. As such, the shelves where all these simple fine wines rest on were once holding blueprints for buildings nearby. It made the whole store look extremely unique and similar to a library that had books up to the ceiling. I'll definitely be back to visit when in the area again. NOTE: They also carry a few nice NA beers and mocktails as well as drinks with THC.

It's located behind the first brick building in a sort of courtyard place up a ramp. Knowing that they were #107 helped. RiffRaff doesn't know what it wants to be. Is it a bar? Is it a bookstore? It wants to be both and successfully does neither. The place lacks a coherence to it. It's starkly divided into Bar an Bookstore, and the lighting is abhorrent on both sides. They want you to read here, but there's only seating in the bar area, which is pitch black except for an ugly neon blue sign. So I don't know how one could do that without straining their eyesight. I'm not a drinker, so I can't tell you about the bar, but the selection of books was sad and clearly curated for a very particular audience. Which is fine if you're boring. I'm boring. I like the occasional high brow literary BS. But I also like to see things explode and for there to be monsters. None of that here because RiffRaff is too cool, apparently. Book prices seemed reasonable, but nothing was interesting to me. Also, it was too hot in there and they were playing some awful nonsense bass music that was just thumping and made everyone talk too loud. I probably won't come back here unless I'm meeting up with someone. RiffRaff would do so much better with real lights and an open concept vibe and more books. I don't want to sit and read or write in a dirty bar.

The next day, I received a call from Curtis informing me that unfortunately they do not have Le Berceau Blanquette de Limoux Brut in store, but they were putting in an order and can let me know when it arrives. I was not in a rush so I informed Curtis that I can wait. 8 days later, Curtis texted me that the Le Berceau Blanquette de Limoux Brut was in. I walked in and I informed the cashier that I was here to pickup an online order. Curtis was also behind the counter and he jumped in and asked are you Stephanie? I said "Yes! That's me." He said he got a whole case in so I purchased another bottle. The next time I was at Campus Fine Wines was for a Yelp event. Most recently, I went back to purchase a bottle of one of the wines we tasted at the Yelp experience. I was looking around the store for the bottle and Howard approached me and asked if I needed help with anything. I said I was looking for the Benito Santos Saiar Albarino 2023. He showed me exactly where the bottles were. All the staff at Campus Fine Wines are really friendly and welcoming. Campus Fine Wines has a great selection and I trust them to have good wines.

They're knowledgeable, fun, & very willing to work within your budget & taste preferences. For a relatively small store, they have quite a varied selection of wine. I popped in to the store last night while I was waiting for my sushi order to be ready for takeout just down the road. Imagine my unbridled delight when I saw a section of the refrigerated wines labeled as "Wine For Sushi & Spicy!" I actually laughed out loud. Precisely what I was looking for, & didn't even need to ask. I went with a Grüner Veltliner & it was, as expected, delicious with my sushi. Thank you, Campus Fine Wines, for your excellent selection, great staff, & always having exactly what I need.
